Tribal art and cultural fair from Aug 29 to Sept 4
Kochi: Gadhika 2025, a fair showcasing traditional art, cultural exhibitions and products of scheduled tribes, will be held from Aug 29 to Sept 4 at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.
As part of this, an organising committee was formed on Tuesday at a meeting convened by minister O R Kelu.
It is a significant responsibility of Kerala society to uplift the indigenous communities by keeping pace with the times, the minister said while inaugurating the committee meeting. Only by acknowledging cultural and social aspects of the scheduled castes and tribes could they rise alongside the general society.
The cultural diversity of Kerala is sustained by the tribal and scheduled caste communities. It is essential to introduce them to the broader society and ensure cultural integration, he said.
Promoting their artistic talents, medicinal knowledge and handcrafted products and bringing them to the general public is crucial, the minister stated.
Jointly organised by the SC/ST department and KIRTADS, the main attraction of the fair is the presentation of traditional arts from the tribal communities.
