Samsung Galaxy A36 5G review: A solid mid-ranger
3.5/5 Samsung has expanded its A-series lineup with the launch of the Galaxy A36 5G. Priced at Rs 30,999, the smartphone brings a mix of updated hardware and software support aimed at users looking for a long-term Android device. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and comes with One UI 7 based on Android 15. Samsung is promising up to six major Android upgrades, and has added other features like a 12MP front camera, Circle to Search, stereo speakers and a design that stays in line with Samsung's recent smartphones. In this review, we take a closer look at how the Galaxy A36 5G performs in daily use and whether it justifies its price tag. Samsung Galaxy A36 5G design and display Samsung Galaxy A36 5G follows a familiar design language but brings a few changes. It features a flat dual-glass design with a flat plastic frame. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+, while the back is glossy and reflective. We used the Lavender variant, which shows different shades depending on how the light hits it. While the back picks up smudges quickly, the glossy finish helps minimize visible fingerprints. The frame has a matte finish, offering a different look from Samsung's higher A-series models, where the frame has a brushed metal-like design. The phone is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance, which adds an extra layer of durability. On the back, there is a long black strip housing the cameras, which are the same ones found on the Galaxy A35. The earpiece above the camera also acts as a stereo speaker, complementing the one at the bottom. The bottom of the frame holds two microphones, a dual nano-SIM slot, and a second speaker. One thing to note is that there is no microSD card support this time around. The front of the Galaxy A36 is mostly occupied by the 6.7-inch AMOLED display. It offers a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (around 385ppi) and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is flat and has a small hole-punch cutout at the center for the updated 12MP selfie camera. In terms of display performance, the Galaxy A36 offers two refresh rate modes: Standard and Adaptive. Standard mode locks the screen at 60Hz, while Adaptive tries to keep it at 120Hz whenever possible, falling back to 60Hz during static content or video playback to save power. The screen looks sharp and colorful in daily use, though the lack of official HDR support is noticeable. Streaming apps like Netflix do not provide HDR content, but YouTube does offer HDR playback up to 4K. Display performance outdoors was satisfactory with adequate brightness levels to use even under sunlight. The phone also comes with an optical under-display fingerprint scanner. It works reliably for unlocking the device, though it could have been a little faster. Samsung Galaxy A36 5G performance Samsung Galaxy A36 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, built on a 4nm process. Our review unit had 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.x storage. There are also 8GB + 256GB and 12GB RAM options available. In day-to-day use, the Galaxy A36 handles regular tasks like browsing, messaging, watching videos, and switching between apps without much trouble. Casual gaming runs fine too, though heavier games might require lowering the graphics settings for smoother performance. Overall, the device delivers what can be expected from a mid-range smartphone and remains stable during multitasking. One UI 7, based on Android 15, comes pre-installed on the device. Samsung has promised up to six major Android upgrades and six years of security patches, ensuring long-term usability. The software experience is clean and familiar for Samsung users, with some useful additions. One new feature is AI Select, an enhanced version of Smart Select from earlier One UI versions. It can now analyze the screen more intelligently and offer actions like extracting text from images, making quick photo clippings, or setting wallpapers directly from photos you have open. Google's Circle to Search is also available, making it easy to search anything on-screen without switching apps. Samsung's native Gallery app includes the Object Eraser tool for removing unwanted parts of a photo. It works decently for basic edits, though it is not always perfect and results can vary depending on the image. The sound quality on the Galaxy A36 is quite good for its segment. The stereo speakers offer clear vocals, strong bass, and a decent high-frequency response. While it does not match flagship levels, it is more than enough for watching videos, gaming, and casual music listening. Samsung Galaxy A36 5G camera Samsung Galaxy A36 5G features a triple-camera setup at the back, similar to the Galaxy A35. It includes a 50MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro sensor. For selfies, there is a new 12MP front camera placed inside the hole-punch cutout. In daily use, the 50MP main camera delivers good photos in daylight. Pictures have a decent amount of detail, balanced colors, and a wide dynamic range. The sharpness is usually good, although in very bright scenes, we noticed some minor overexposure. Autofocus is reliable and fairly quick. Low-light photos from the main camera are usable, but they tend to lose some detail and sharpness. The camera app usually switches to Night Mode automatically in darker scenes, which improves the brightness and clarity a bit, but there is still some visible noise. The 8MP ultrawide camera is fine for casual shots. It captures wider scenes without major distortion around the edges. However, there is a noticeable drop in detail compared to the main camera, especially in low-light conditions. The 5MP macro camera is serviceable for close-up shots, but getting the focus right can sometimes take a few tries. It works best in bright light and from the right distance. The 12MP selfie camera is a solid upgrade. Selfies come out sharp with decent color reproduction in good lighting. Skin tones look more natural. In low light, selfies remain usable, though they can sometimes look a little softer. Samsung Galaxy A36 5G battery Samsung Galaxy A36 5G comes with the same 5,000mAh battery seen in the predecessor A-series model. In daily use, the battery performance is solid. With moderate usage — which includes browsing, social media, some gaming, video streaming, and regular calls — the phone comfortably lasts a full day, often stretching into the next morning with lighter use. The phone takes about 80-85 minutes to go from 0% to 100%. A quick 30-minute charge can get the battery to around 45-50%, which should be enough to get through several hours of use. Verdict Samsung Galaxy A36 5G, priced at Rs 30,999 (onwards), offers a familiar yet dependable package for users looking for a mid-range Android phone with long-term software support. With a durable design, smooth AMOLED display, stable day-to-day performance, and reliable battery life, it covers the basics well. The cameras perform decently in good lighting, though low-light performance leaves some room for improvement. Features like AI Select, Circle to Search, and promised six years of updates add extra value. Overall, the Galaxy A36 5G is a solid option for those prioritizing software longevity and a consistent user experience at this price. Galaxy M36 likely to launch soon, gets spotted on Samsung India site
Samsung may be close to launching the Galaxy M36 in India, as the smartphone has now appeared on the company's official support site. The listing doesn't reveal the phone's specifications but confirms its model number – SM-M366B/DS – and signals that the launch could take place in the coming this isn't the first time the Galaxy M36 has surfaced online. In April, the device was spotted on Geekbench, revealing that it runs on Samsung's in-house Exynos 1380 chipset. This is a notable change from the Galaxy A36, which features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, suggesting that the two phones might differ beyond just battery capacity — unlike last year's Galaxy M35 and A35, which were largely identical apart from the M35's bigger Geekbench listing further hinted at 6GB RAM and Android 15 onboard, with Samsung's One UI 7 skin expected on top. The phone also scored 1,004 in single-core and 2,886 in multi-core performance tests, offering a glimpse into its processing power. Graphics will reportedly be handled by the Arm Mali G68 addition to this, the Galaxy M36 has also been certified by India's BIS and the Bluetooth SIG, which usually suggests the device is in the final stages before an official launch. Given that the Galaxy M35 was unveiled in late May last year, a similar timeline for the M36 would not be surprising. With all signs pointing to an imminent launch, Samsung's Galaxy M36 may soon arrive in Samsung hasn't officially shared the full spec sheet, it could borrow some features from its Galaxy A36 sibling if we go by the previous Galaxy M device's strategy. The Galaxy M36 could offer a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits. For photography, we might see a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. On the front could be a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. Storage variants may include 128GB and 256GB, possibly with RAM going up to 12GB for the top Galaxy M-series is typically launched as an online-first offering, and the M36 may follow suit with an Amazon India exclusive release. In terms of pricing, the M35 was announced at Rs 19,999 in India. While the final price of the M36 is yet to be confirmed, it's expected to be positioned in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment.

Samsung's Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36, the latest additions to the A Series, have received a brand-new update that introduces the ability to trigger Gemini using the side button. This functionality comes with the May 2025 update and has been rolled out for the Galaxy A56 and A36, as reported by Sammy Fans. Essentially, this update enables users to activate the Gemini assistant using the side button on both the A56 and A36 models. To trigger Gemini, you can now choose which assistant the side button activates. In your Galaxy phone's settings, you can select between Gemini or Bixby. To launch it, simply press and hold the side button, and the Gemini AI assistant will spring to life. Previously, this feature was exclusive to Samsung's Galaxy S Series, such as the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung's Internet changelog also notes that Gemini now works with other Samsung apps, including Calendar, Notes, Reminders, and even Clock. You can complete tasks in these apps using Gemini. Additionally, you can ask Google Gemini to search for a particular YouTube video and save the results in Samsung Notes, as well as find sports team schedules and add them to your calendar. Samsung Galaxy A26: Is this mobile a good buy under ₹25,000? First impressions here
Samsung's A series smartphones are quite popular around the globe due to their powerful performance, advanced AI features, promising capabilities, and more. However, the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 are priced slightly on the higher side despite being mid-range phones. Therefore, to bring the right balance to its A series models, Samsung introduced the Galaxy A26, which offers similar features, a new processor, promising AI additions, and more at under Rs.25000. I have been using the Samsung Galaxy A26 for a couple of days to examine if it's worth the hype. Initially, I quite like the display experience with vibrant visuals, the camera performance is also decent, and it manages day-to-day tasks swiftly. If you are planning to buy this smartphone, then here's the Samsung Galaxy A26's first impression. Also read: Samsung Galaxy A26 vs Galaxy A36: Which mid-ranger should you buy? The Samsung Galaxy A26 comes with design refinement as it is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor. The smartphone is 7.7 mm slim, making it one of the slimmest smartphones in the segment. It retains a similar design profile as its siblings, the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56, but it comes with a plastic build. With Galaxy A26, Samsung has also made some compromises by removing the 3.5mm headphone jack and a speaker, which may not be appreciated by budget-conscious buyers. Apart from this, the smartphone has upgraded durability with an IP67 rating. For display, the Galaxy A26 features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. In terms of viewing and entertainment purposes, it produces pleasing visuals with vibrant colours and detailing, but its thick bezels may hamper your experience. Additionally, Samsung has not confirmed the smartphone's brightness, and it is not very bright to use in direct sunlight. Also read: Samsung Galaxy A26 5G with 50MP camera launched in India: Check features, price and more The Samsung Galaxy A26 features a triple camera setup that includes a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro lens. Coming to the camera performance, the smartphone captures decent daylight images with great detailing, but the colours appear faded. The smartphone also struggles to capture low-light images, and you may have to manage the exposure to get a lit image. While the camera has shortcomings, its macro lens works quite well in capturing detailed close-up portraits. The Samsung Galaxy A26 is powered by the in-house Exynos 1380 processor paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. In terms of performance, the Galaxy A26 manages day-to-day performance such as social media scrolling, browsing, chatting, and other tasks with ease. However, the smartphone struggles with heavy-duty tasks, and I also notice a slight stutter with longer durations. Yet the smartphone is smooth and quick with action, like switching between apps or running multiple apps in the background. Also read: Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge launch date, pre-order, sale, and more tipped- Details Coming to gaming performance, the Galaxy A26 provides decent gameplay with low to medium graphics settings. Therefore, if you are a casual gamer, then it should not be a problem. However, longer duration games on heavy graphics showcase frame drops and frequent lag that may hamper your gaming experience. Additionally, there is a slight overheating as well, but nothing concerning. The Samsung Galaxy A26 is backed by a 5000mAh battery that provides a decent battery life for basic tasks. The smartphone can easily last you an entire day with medium usage. The smartphone sports a 25W charger, and the charging time is daunting. It's not only with Galaxy A26, most of the Samsung phones have slow charging speed, where brands are providing up to 125W chargers. It should also be noted that Samsung does not provide a charger in the box, therefore, you have to keep an extra budget for the adapter.
