The former world champion triumphed after coming back from the brink of defeat in his semi-final, later joking: 'I was starting to think about the FPL deadline.'
Having won the final against Stuart Bingham by a scarcely believable 10-0, can he hold his form, both on the snooker table – where he is heading back towards the world's top 10 – and in fantasy football, in which he is an increasingly committed player?

'Certainly you're in a good place and want to keep it going,' the Chelsea fan told the Post, reflecting on a memorable trip to Hong Kong and previewing the coming week's Players Championship in Telford. As fate would have it, he has been drawn against Bingham.
'The law of averages says [after winning] 10 frames in a row … at some point that has to end.'
