Kim Soo Hyun–Kim Sae Ron controversy sparks over 10 police investigations; here's what we know
The scandal involving Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae Ron's alleged relationship during her minor years shows no signs of fading. Since the controversy erupted in February 2025, it has sparked numerous accusations, conspiracy theories, public backlash, and even shifts in careers. Yet, many believe what's been revealed so far is just the surface of a much larger issue. Currently, South Korean police authorities are investigating 10 legal cases linked to Kim Sae Ron, as per Edaily. Actor Kim Soo Hyun is also under scrutiny, suspected of having a relationship with Kim Sae Ron when she was underage. On May 19, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced in a press briefing that seven of these cases are being handled by the Gangnam Police Station, while the remaining three fall under the jurisdiction of the Seodaemun Police Station. According to Edaily, Kim Soo Hyun has filed seven legal complaints, while representatives of Kim Sae Ron have submitted three. Among these accusations, a significant complaint comes from Kim Sae Ron's bereaved family. They have accused Kim Soo Hyun of violating the Child Welfare Act and have presented evidence, including audio recordings, some of which were released in cooperation with the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute, also known as Ga Se Yeon. In response, Kim Soo Hyun has filed a counter-complaint against Garosero, accusing the platform of defamation and stalking. His legal team has also alleged that the audio recordings shared online were altered using artificial intelligence. Additionally, Bu Ji Seok, the lawyer representing the bereaved family, is facing criticism after being reported to the National Human Rights Commission of Korea for allegedly giving misleading legal advice. The case remains ongoing, with Kim Sea Ron 's family and Kim Soo Hyun caught in an increasingly complex mix of legal battles and public disputes. Authorities have confirmed that they are carefully examining all allegations and evidence submitted.

Kim Soohyun's Agency Issues Statement Following Kim Sae Ron's Family Press Conference
In light of more damning accusations made by Kim Saeron's family yesterday (7th May 2025) at the press conference involving the family's legal representative and YouTuber Kim Seui of Garo Sero Institute, Kim Soohyun's agency, has issued an official statement in regards to the accusations. On the same day of the press conference, GOLDMEDALIST rebuked all accusations made towards actor Kim Soohyun (김수현), stating 3 main points of argument, where they point out that the accusations made with proof were fabricated to defame him. Here are the highlights of the statement: GOLDMEDALIST's Position On The Audio Recording Claimed By HoverLab GOLDMEDALIST claims that the obtained audio recording of Kim Saeron (김새론) was fabricated using AI or similar technology. The statement also states that the audio provider who had given the recording to HoverLab had also approached them, demanding money, with an audio recording of the late actress making favourable comments towards Kim Soohyun. The agency also states that the perpetrator is not someone who could have had any contact with Kim Saeron, and investigations are well underway or the legitimacy of the recording. Their Stance On The Alleged 'Attack Photo' Mentioned By HoverLab GOLDMEDALIST rebukes the so-called 'attack photo' claimed by HoverLab and has presented that the photo can be easily found with a quick search on the internet. They claim that the attack is baseless and is completely unreasonable from a common-sense perspective. GOLDMEDALIST's Plan Response Towards HoverLab GOLDMEDALIST stands with their resolve that HoverLab has inflicted serious cyber attacks on Kim Soohyun. They have pointed out HoverLab's crimes of defamation, cyber sex crimes and evidence tampering. Minutes after Kim Sae Ron's family attorney, Bu Ji Seok, and Garo Sero Institute's Kim Se Ui held a press conference releasing an alleged audio recording of the late actor admitting to her 'physical relationship' with Kim Soo Hyun at the age of 14, the Queen of Tears star's agency, Gold Medalist, fired back with a lengthy statement. They called out the 'AI-generated' audio recording, while also suggesting that the individual, who claims to be a whistleblower and was recently attacked for holding sensitive details in the case, is a 'fraudster.' This person allegedly reached out to Kim Soo Hyun and the agency first, demanding a large sum of money. When denied, they took the recording to Garo Sero. Kim Soo Hyun's team dismisses Kim Sae Ron's recording as 'fake' The press conference held on May 7 featured an audio recording of Kim Sae Ron, where she allegedly discussed her sexual relationship with Kim Soo Hyun with an acquaintance named 'A'. She said, 'The first time I did it with him was during winter break in my second year of middle school. Thinking about it now, it was done to me. Not many people know about when I dated him in middle school, but they all reacted the same way. They asked why I just let him be.' Following this, the legal team representing Kim Soo Hyun, LKB & Partners, issued a statement clarifying that the recording was fake and believed to have been made using AI. 'The recordings were forged entirely, and Gold Medalist believes that the audio files were created using AI,' Soo Hyun's team said, according to MK Sports. They also revealed that the individual who allegedly provided the recording had two versions of the story. According to them, he tried to scam the Gold Medalist by demanding money in exchange for a file that supposedly had positive comments about Kim Soo Hyun from Kim Sae Ron. When the agency refused to cooperate, the scammer worked with Garo Sero to release the forged recording. 'The person who delivered the recording file has no connection to the late Kim Sae Ron. When the scam against the Gold Medalist didn't work, they conspired with Garo Sero to release a forged recording file. As mentioned before, Gold Medalist determined that the person delivering the file used AI, and is conducting technical verification of this and will share the results as soon as they become available.' Gold Medalist says, pictures of the attack 'can be googled' easily In the same press conference, Garo Sero also revealed that the informant who leaked the audio recording was brutally attacked in New Jersey. According to YouTuber Kim Se Ui, the attack was a planned assault by two individuals, one Korean and one Chinese. They further mentioned that the case is now being handled by the FBI. However, the Gold Medalist called these claims false and said that the photo was just something found online. ' The photo released can be confirmed through an internet search, which proves that Garo Sero and the informant are using a photo from the internet for their claims.' Regarding their next step, Gold Medalist said they are now fighting against a 'new type of crime using AI,' and called out Garo Sero's actions as a 'fabrication cornered with defamation, stalking, cybersexual crimes, and evidence fabrication against Kim Soo Hyun.' The agency now plans to 'file a complaint against Garo Sero for violating the Stalking Punishment Act and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilisation and Information Protection.' For the unversed, Kim Soo Hyun has already filed a lawsuit against Kim Sae Ron's family and two lawsuits against Kim Se Ui for privacy breaches and stalking earlier.
