Details have emerged surrounding the death of comedian Gary Little who died while on a hike in the Highlands. Rescue teams from Kintail and Glenelg were scrambled following reports of an 'overdue walker' in the remote Highlands on Friday August 15. Gary Little had been out near the Five Sisters of Kintail when he failed to return, prompting the search for him. Kintail Mountain Rescue confirmed that the body of Gary Little was located and subsequently recovered with the help of Glenelg Mountain Rescue Team, Police Scotland and HMCG Helicopter from Stornoway. The comedian had been booked to play in Aberdeen in October. On social media, Kintail MRT said: 'The team wish to extend our sincerest condolences to Gary's family and friends.' News of the 61-year-old's death shocked the comedy world as he was due to play several upcoming gigs, including dates in the Granite City and Edinburgh. Tributes have also been paid to a true Scottish stand-up star. A police spokesperson said: 'Around 11.20am on Friday August 15 we were made aware the body of a man had been found on Sgurr Na Carnach. 'The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course.'

Scottish comedian Gary Little was found dead in mountains in the Highlands on Friday. Little had been hillwalking on Five Sisters of Kintail in the Highlands when he failed to return home. His body was later recovered by Kintail Mountain Rescue, assisted by Glenelg Mountain Rescue Team, Police Scotland the Coastguard. The 61-year-old was a regular at comedy clubs in Scotland as well as the Edinburgh Fringe and Glasgow International Comedy Festival. Following the news of Little's death, tributes poured in on social media from comedy clubs and comedians alike, highlighting his comedic skill and 'joy he brought to the world'. An incredible comic, huge personality and friend to many. 'We are lost for words and he will be profoundly and sorely missed. Our thoughts go out to all his family and friends right now. 'There will be many a comic thinking about him tonight, telling stories and raising a glass. He would have liked that.' The Glee Club Glasgow added: 'Gary wasn't just one of Scotland's finest comedians, he was a true original. He had a huge heart, a razor sharp sense of humour, and a knack for making you feel like you'd known him forever. 'He could make an entire room feel like they were sitting with an old friend. He played our opening weekend, and was a permanent fixture at the venue ever since. 'It's difficult to put into words how much we will miss his presence, his humour and his friendship. We are deeply grateful for the years of memories, the countless laughs, and the privilege of working with him. There really was nobody else like him. We'll miss him more than we can say.' Ronnie Black branded Little a 'genuine legend of Scottish comedy', adding: 'I had the pleasure of watching Gary and Sean Locke on the opening weekend of Glee. I will never forget Gary spoke for 20 minutes about a frying pan. Never knew frying pans were so funny.' Jo Caufield said: 'What terribly sad news. Gary Little was a great comic and an amazing person to spend time with. We are all poorer for losing you Gary. 'I will truly miss seeing you backstage and never hearing that big mischievous laugh.' Raymond Mearns said: 'Big Gary was a colossal comedy talent who had that rare ability to alchemise pain, suffering and the difficulties of life into passages of great beauty. 'We will all miss him and take time to process what has happened but all of my memories of Gary will be hilarious and happy ones. The death has been announced of Scottish comedian Gary Little, who has been described as one of "Scotland's finest comedians". Little, who was due on stage this weekend in The Glee Club in Glasgow, was in his 60s, he rose to prominence in the early 2000s. He went on to perform regularly at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Glee Club in Glasgow, where the comedian was due to perform on Friday, confirmed his death on social media. It said: "Gary wasn't just one of Scotland's finest comedians, he was a true original. "He had a huge heart, a razor sharp sense of humour, and a knack for making you feel like you'd known him forever. "He could make an entire room feel like they were sitting with an old friend. He played our opening weekend, and was a permanent fixture at the venue ever since." Little never shied away from discussing his brushes with the law, he often drew from controversial personal experiences in his material - including his time in prison. Prior to his Comedian career, Little had spent time in jail on a drug dealing charge. His stand-up shows tackled themes of mental health and addiction. In 2024, he created a four-part stand-up series for BBC Radio 4 called Gary Little: At Large, which explored life "before, behind and beyond bars".

Gary Little, a regular on the stand-up circuit and a fixture at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, passed away this week, with news of his death announced on social media on Friday, reports The Record. Gary had been due to perform at the Glee Club in Glasgow on Friday and Saturday night. No cause of death has been confirmed but his sudden passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from fellow comedians and fans alike. Comedian Ray Bradshaw said: "Absolutely gutted to hear about the passing of Gary Little. A literal giant of the Scottish comedy scene. I lived with him two years in a row Australia. He was a wonderful man and helped me so much over the years. "This is my favourite photo of him. Just two weeks ago, Little, hailed as 'one of Scotland's finest comedians,' performed in Dundee for one of his final gigs at entertainment venue Number 57. Taking to Facebook upon learning of his death, the owners wrote: 'Some terribly sad news reaching us today, from all of our wider audience and of course the team here at Number 57 RIP Big Man ….you will sorely missed x' Little was next due to perform stand-up in Aberdeen in September before appearing alongside Raymond Mearns in Still Got It at the Gardyne Theatre at the start of November. After his death became public, shocked comedy fans and fellow performers also shared tributes, with Kevin Bridges writing on Instagram: 'RIP big Gary, very sad news.' More Trending The Some Laugh podcast also penned: 'We're absolutely gutted to learn of the passing of the legend Gary Little. 'Gary was one of the best stand-ups Scotland has ever produced, an absolute powerhouse of a comedian as well as a genuinely lovely guy with a heart of gold.
