Iowa football QB Mark Gronowski excels in Barstool Sports gauntlet
During his appearance on Barstool Sports' "YAK" podcast from their downtown Chicago offices on Thursday, Iowa football quarterback Mark Gronowski showcased his athletic skills in a multi-sport skills gauntlet. The "YAK" podcast, hosted by Kyle Bauer along with a rotating cast of other Barstool personalities and guests, discusses a wide range of topics that span from current events to personal anecdotes, often with humor and irreverence. The show airs every Monday through Friday at noon CT, across multiple podcast providers. As Gronowski and senior offensive lineman Gennings Dunker both visited Barstool Sports' Chicago offices as guests for a few of the company's podcasts, the Hawkeyes quarterback put his skills to the test in the "YAK" podcast's timed sports challenge. The challenge involved sinking a cornhole toss, scoring a soccer goal from about 30 feet out, bitting a baseball off a self-toss, throwing a football into a target, draining two 3-pointers from opposite ends of a basketball court, and finally answering one of the ten questions the postcast listed (Gronowski chose to name all eight planets in the Solar System). Following his attempt at the Gauntlet, Gronowski came close to setting a record time, completing all obstacles in 1:39:69, which placed him at No. 6 all-time in the podcast's record books. Gronowski transferred to Iowa in the offseason portal from FCS-level South Dakota State, where he passed for 10,308 yards and 93 touchdowns while holding a 63.5% completion percentage, to go along with 1,767 career rushing yards and 37 touchdowns on the ground. He would finish his four-year tenure at South Dakota State with a 49-6 record as a starter, a two-time FCS National Champion and National Championship Game MVP, 2023 Walter Payton Award winner (given to the most outstanding FCS player), and a 2023 First-team FCS All-American. While the various skills shown in the gauntlet will most likely have absolutely no impact on Gronowski's on-field performance, it does at least create a form of bragging rights and sense of pride heading into what could be an exceedingly successful Hawkeyes 2025-26 campaign. Gronowski and the Hawkeyes open their season on Aug. 30 when FCS-level Albany visits Kinnick Stadium for a 5 p.m. CT kickoff on FS1. UK Commits to Enabling DLT, Tokenization Work in its Wholesale Strategy
The U.K. government on Tuesday said it intends to enable the wholesale market to identify the best distributed ledger technology (DLT) use cases as well as roll out tokenization solutions. The country wants DLT - the blockchain technology that underpins crypto - to be utilized across different sectors in wholesale financial markets and create cross market groups "to take forward live activity," the country's Treasury said in a policy paper. A part of the plan includes creating a regulatory framework for crypto technology, something which is already underway as the nation sets out to be a crypto hub. The U.K. published draft legislation for the stablecoin issuers and exchanges in April. "For instance, on digital wholesale payments the government and regulators are open to proposals that innovate on existing forms of payment, such as tokenised deposits, and also new innovations such as stablecoins," said Treasury. The government wants to enable the sector to test solutions that tokenize financial assets and help digitize post trade processes. Worldwide, RWA tokenization has grown by 380% in just three years and reached $24 billion this month, according to a first-half 2025 report from RedStone, Gauntlet and U.K. regulators will also test using stablecoins - digital tokens pegged to assets - alongside other payment solutions in the new digital securities sandbox.

WWE 'Raw': Roman Reigns returns, CM Punk earns title shot
July 15 (UPI) -- Roman Reigns made a triumphant return to WWE to help out his cousin Jey Uso and CM Punk on WWE Raw. Uso and Punk were involved in a Gauntlet match on Monday to determine who will face World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at SummerSlam. Bron Breakker kicked off the Gauntlet by taking on Penta. Breakker and manager Paul Heyman were without their leader, Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins, who is recovering from an injury. Heyman, earlier in the night, refused to give an update on Rollins' status but stated that Rollins would not be relinquishing the Money in the Bank briefcase. Breakker defeated Penta with a Spear before taking on LA Knight. Breakker won the match after raking Knight's eyes and nailing him with a Gutbuster and Spear combo. Uso was up next against Breakker, who was joined by his partner Bronson Reed. Uso was in control of the match until Reed got involved, allowing Breakker to hit another Spear and gained another victory. Punk was the last competitor to enter the Gauntlet match and went to battle with Breakker. Reed once again got involved; however, Uso returned to even the odds. Punk was able to counter a Spear attempt by Breakker and landed the GTS to earn the three count. Punk will go on to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Breakker and Reed, upset at the result, started to beat down Punk and Uso until Reigns arrived onto the scene. The Original Tribal Chief delivered Superman Punches and Spears to both Breakker and Reed as the crowd cheered. Reigns then helped Uso up and shook his hand as Raw went off the air. Reigns was last seen in March following WrestleMania 41. SummerSlam will take place over two nights on Aug. 2 and 3. Rapper Cardi B will host the event. WWE superstars past and present John Cena arrives for interviews after a news conference for "WrestleMania" at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on March 16, 2018. WWE Pulls Off Biggest Surprise As Roman Reigns Makes Grand Comeback
Last Updated: Roman Reigns returns to WWE Raw, saving CM Punk and Jey Uso from Seth Rollins' goons. The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) pulled off the biggest surprise for fans during the latest episode of Monday Night Raw on July 14, as superstar Roman Reigns stunned everyone by making a comeback. A jam-packed crowd at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, couldn't believe their eyes seeing the former WWE Champion and Tribal Chief Roman Reigns return after months. Away from the spotlight since WrestleMania 41, Reigns got the whole arena erupting in shock and disbelief once his music started playing towards the dying moments of the Gauntlet match between CM Punk and Bron Breakker. The powerful wrestler stormed into the ring and rescued Punk and his cousin Jey Uso after Seth Rollins' goons, Breakker and Bronson Reed, started attacking them. The show closed with fans anticipating more of Reigns at the WWE with the marquee SummerSlam event at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, to be held in a few weeks. The rumours are that Reigns was always part of the company's planning for the SummerSlam in New York and thus returned with the Monday Night Raw in Alabama, drawing the episode to a fantastic closure while also providing a snapshot of what viewers can expect at the upcoming WWE special. Punk and Breakker had entered an intense fight in the final leg of the Guntlet match to determine who would face Gunther for the World Heavyweight title at SummerSlam. The two wrestlers gave each other a hard time, landing heavy blows on each other. Fans enjoyed the captivating showdown before Punk eventually came out triumphant. It is when Reigns arrived to everyone's disbelief. The music quickly died down as Reigns rushed to the ring to save Punk and his cousin, Uso, assisting him in standing up. Reigns even seemed to get along well with Punk, having previously had problems with him. What fans are now anticipating is one of the greatest events of the year, with a potential Reigns versus Breakker clash. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Roman Reigns Makes a Grand Return on Raw to Set Up a Probable Tag Team Match at SummerSlam
Image via 'The OTC' is finally back to rule his yard once again. On the July 14th segment of Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns made his grand return in the aftermath of the Gauntlet match to close out the show ahead of the first-ever 2-night SummerSlam. The former Undisputed Champion made his first television appearance after being taken out by Bron Breakker on Raw after WrestleMania 41. The crowd went bananas as Reigns made his way to the ring to settle his score with Seth Rollins' henchmen and rescued a battered CM Punk and Jey Uso in the process. Roman Reigns Takes Out Seth Rollins' Henchmen and Saves the Day In the show's main event, Gauntlet match, CM Punk punched his ticket to SummerSlam to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. And he did it by surviving the inhuman strength of Bron Breakker, who started the match and lasted for around 40 minutes. In the dying moments of the contest, Bronson Reed attacked Punk, after which Jey Uso ran out to make the save. As a result, Punk was able to hit the GTS on Breakker and pick up the win. However, the assault wasn't over. Breakker and Reed continued their attack on Uso and Punk. And that's when Reigns' music hit and 'The OTC' walked out to the centre with intent in his eyes. Reigns took out Reed with a vicious Superman punch and then took down Breakker as well. The 330-pounder attacked Reigns from behind, but Reigns converted it into a Samoan drop. He then took revenge by hitting Breakker with a Superman punch, followed by a spear for good measure. With the ring cleared, Reigns helped his cousin Jey Uso to his feet before having a staredown with Punk, who was still in the corner. The slow closed with Breakker, Reed, and Paul Heyman watching in horror as 'The OTC' and Uso stood tall. This segment pointed towards a bumper tag team match with Reigns and Uso probably slated to take on Breakker and Reed. Alternatively, it could be a singles contest between Reigns and Breakker, depending on how things unfold with just two weeks left until SummerSlam. With Seth Rollins out of the picture due to an injury, it will be interesting to see how this rivalry pans out.
