McDonald's drive-thru blocked off after car shot up in DeKalb County

DeKalb County police are investigating a possible shootout at a McDonald's. Officers have taped off the drive-thru window at the fast food restaurant in the 2700 block of Panola Road. A witness told Gehlbach that another car pulled up to the drive-thru and started shooting. Channel 2 Action News has reached out to DeKalb County Police to confirm if anyone was injured. Downtown Decatur getting multi-million dollar makeover

The City of Decatur says the city square will get a massive, multi-million dollar transformation. Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach was in the square on Tuesday where demolition is set to begin in the next few weeks. The current gazebo bandstand is set to go away and make way for more green space and a large stage structure with more grass area for concerts and performances. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Gehlbach spoke to parkgoer Fred Menegee who says he brings his terrier, Henry, to the public space nearly every day. 'Will miss it, but hope good things will come of it,' he said. The Decatur City Commission approved spending $8.5 million for the square at their meeting on Monday night. The money is funded from special purpose local option sales tax revenue. 'I think it's a good change. I think there's a lot of wasted space back here…and make way for audience up front here. Overall, think it would be very positive,' Menefee said. Part of North Ave is shut down in northwest Atlanta after a hole opened up in the middle of a lane. Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach got a close up look at the damage and spoke with a driver who got a flat tire after driving over it. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'It was literally five feet deep, I could stand in it comfortably,' David Kimbro said. The hole opened up in an eastbound lane around 8:30 a.m. near Coca-Cola headquarters in northwest Atlanta. Police and watershed crews coned off the lanes. 'None of us saw it. Might have seemed like a shadow, but we didn't see anything,' Kimbro said. TRAFFIC RED ALERT: Crash shuts down I-20 EB in Douglas County

A crash has shut down all lanes of Interstate 20 eastbound in Douglas County. The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. near the Thornton Road exit. Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach spotted a Ram 3500 truck that was split in half and at least two tractor-tractors involved in the crash. A Douglas County deputy on the scene said no one was injured. Gehlbach said crews are working to remove there is debris along the interstate that will need to be cleaned up before traffic can reopen. 1 dead and 6 injured, including firefighters, after house fire in Cobb County

A woman is dead and three of her family members were injured after a house fire in Cobb County on Friday. Channel 2 Action News learned that three firefighters were also hurt. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Cobb County Police and Cobb Fire & Emergency Services are on scene of a fire at 620 Oakland Drive. Officials confirmed to Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach that a woman died at the scene. The victim's husband is being treated for smoke inhalation and the couple's two adult sons had minor burns. Gehlbach also learned two firefighters were taken to the hospital and a third was treated on the scene. The fire is now out and the cause is under investigation.
