Virtual reality and games lead fight against addiction
TDT | Manama A bold push to combat addiction using virtual reality and interactive games took centre stage at the 'Maan (Together) for Security Awareness' exhibition launched by the Southern Governorate. Held under the guidance of His Highness Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the event aimed to deepen public engagement on community safety and drug prevention. Organised in cooperation with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, the exhibition was hosted at the Askar Sports Complex and featured awareness sections targeting youth. Visitors explored virtual reality simulations and electronic games designed to build decision-making skills and resilience among young people. A key feature was the anti-drug section, which highlighted the risks of narcotics and introduced the 'Recovery' programme, part of the National Anti-Drug Plan. The event attracted participants from various Interior Ministry departments and local communities, reflecting a broad push for neighbourhood-level engagement. Healthy city goals The exhibition also supports the Southern Governorate's effort to earn recognition as a healthy city, by aligning public safety initiatives with health and well-being strategies. Through creative and tech-driven outreach, the governorate continues to promote positive behaviour among youth and strengthen community-based prevention efforts.

New office for trafficking victims
The Ministry of Interior has established a specialised office under the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science to support victims of human trafficking. The office, aligned with international standards, provides a safe environment for victims to give testimony and includes a dedicated space for children. It aims to enhance cooperation with judicial authorities from investigation to prosecution. This step reflects Bahrain's commitment to combating trafficking in persons, in line with Law No. 1 of 2008 with Respect to Trafficking in Persons and the Palermo Protocol, ratified under Law No. (4) of 2004.

Bahrain: Multiple Arrests Made In Major Narcotics Seizure Operation
Several individuals of various nationalities, aged between 20 and 49, were arrested in separate cases for attempting to smuggle and possess approximately 14 kilograms of narcotics, with an estimated street value of over BD24,000. Carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, in cooperation with Customs Affairs, the arrest was part of the directorate's ongoing security efforts to protect society from the scourge of drugs and enforce the law. The directorate explained that upon receiving information about the incidents, investigations and search operations were conducted, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects, who were found in possession of the narcotics. Legal measures The seized substances were secured, and the necessary legal measures were taken before referring the cases to the Public Prosecution. The Criminal Media Division reaffirmed the continued activation of community partnership through lectures and exhibitions aimed at drug prevention awareness. It also urged the public to cooperate with security authorities by reporting any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking via the 24-hour hotline 996 or by email at 996@ assuring that all information will be treated with full confidentiality.

Palestinian Interior Minister Tours Key Security Departments in Bahrain
Palestinian Interior Minister Ziad Mahmoud Hab Al-Reeh visited several key departments of Bahrain's Ministry of Interior during his official trip to the Kingdom. At the Royal Police Academy, the minister and his delegation watched a documentary showcasing the international achievements of the Ministry's Military Step Measurement Team. He was also briefed on the Academy's academic and training programs designed to prepare security personnel to meet the highest professional standards. The visit concluded with a tour of the Academy's facilities. The minister then visited the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, where he was briefed on Bahrain's efforts to combat crime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. He also reviewed the latest digital investigation tools and forensic technologies and discussed opportunities for cooperation in training and experience sharing. His final stop was at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security, where he was introduced to initiatives aimed at fighting corruption, strengthening transparency, and protecting the national economy. The visit also highlighted the use of advanced systems to monitor suspicious online activities and analyze digital data. The tour underscored the ongoing security cooperation and the exchange of expertise between Bahrain and Palestine.
