Ministry recalls models of Toyota,Genesis and Mercedes vehicles

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in cooperation with Al Abdulghani Motors, Qatar's official Toyota dealership, has announced a recall of the 2019 Toyota Camry HEV due to the possibility of a fuel pump malfunction, which may cause the vehicle to stop functioning. The MoCI, in cooperation with Skyline Automotive, Qatar's Genesis dealership, has also announced the recall of Genesis GV80, GV70, and G80, 2023-2024 models, as some vehicles may encounter issues with the cluster failing to boot up. In addition, the Ministry, in cooperation with Nasser Bin Khaled and Sons Automobiles, the official Mercedes-Benz dealership in Qatar, has recalled the 2023–2024 models of the Mercedes S-Class, GLC, SL-Class, and GT. The recall is due to a potential issue in the high-voltage starter alternator's control unit in hybrid-drive vehicles, where the processor may suffer from sporadic overload. This could lead to function deactivation and result in an unexpected loss of propulsive power.(TNN)

2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe: 4 Reasons to Love it, 2 Reasons to Think Twice

Going back a few decades, a few German automakers began rounding off the rear seating area of their sedans to make them look more like a coupe or "coupé." They pushed the coupe narrative so hard that the styling scheme made its way to SUVs. The recently launched 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe debuted with that same design and a beefy engine under the hood. View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article The question is: are you willing to sacrifice a bit of your SUV's practicality and utility for style? Does this aesthetic choice help any of the vehicle's performance? This is one of the most expensive Genesis SUVs on the market, for now, and part of the reason is the whole coupe design. Let's have a look at some of the reasons why the Genesis GV80 should find a place in your driveway and a few reasons why some competitors might be better. As powerful as the standard 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo in the SUV is, the coupé only gets a pair of V6 options. The base model will come with a twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. While that's plenty of power, its twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 sibling receives an electric supercharger to sweeten the deal. It also features a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which works in conjunction with the supercharger to mitigate lag and improve efficiency. This setup makes 409 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque through the same 8-speed automatic transmission as the twin-turbo engine. The supercharged version is EPA-estimated at 18 mpg city and 22 mpg highway, while the entry-level twin-turbo V6 achieves 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article One of the things you need to know about Genesis is that they hired some of the best interior designers on the planet. That's no exaggeration, and many in my field agree as the attention to detail, quality, and visually pleasing touches are apparent everywhere. A massive 27.0-inch OLED touchscreen occupies a significant amount of dashboard real estate, but Genesis makes it look and function beautifully. Seat comfort is on par with the best-in-class, and passenger space is better than expected in the back. That's thanks to a conscious effort by designers to keep the back seat headroom reasonable, despite the "fastback" rear design. This means that adults have enough space in the back seat to avoid slamming their head into the vehicle's roof, which is an issue that some automakers haven't dealt with well in the past. The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe has a base MSRP of $79,950. This gives you all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard, with heated and ventilated seats clad in Nappa leather, Bang & Olufsen audio, and more. Stepping up to the E-SC MHEV increases the base MSRP to $85,750 and includes the more powerful engine, 22-inch wheels, carbon-fiber garnish, and more. While it's certainly not inexpensive, the GV80 Coupe offers a lot for the money, making it a compelling argument. The BMW X6, Audi Q8, and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, along with the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, can cost a lot more while offering less. Additionally, unlike many German automakers, Genesis doesn't "nickel-and-dime" consumers on options. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article While I fail to see the logic in slicing off the back of an SUV for aesthetics, I must say that the back of the Genesis GV80 Coupe looks well-balanced and pleasing to the eye. I noticed that several people at car shows and on the streets also found the look to be pleasing. I wish they had changed the nose to truly differentiate the coupé from the SUV, but the vehicle's overall character definitely gives off a nice curb appeal. The Genesis GV80 Coupe offers 30.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up and 62.1 cubic feet with the seats folded down. By comparison, the Genesis GV80 SUV gives you 34.9 cu-ft of cargo behind the second row and a maximum of 84 cu-ft when all seats are folded. You also lose the optional third-row seat. If the seats are up, you get a mere 11.6 cu-ft behind them. Missing out on that utility alone is enough for me to question the logic of the coupé's design, even though both the coupé and SUV can tow up to 6,000 lbs when properly equipped. It's heavy. With a curb weight that comes in over 5,100 lbs, hauling that much weight around corners takes BMW-levels of magic, and that's something Genesis has yet to fully develop. It's still a rocket, and both powertrains are outstanding for day-to-day driving, but the overall performance comes up a bit short. That's based on the testimony from several sources, not just mine. Fortunately, like the SUV GV80, it's quite serene to commute in and has a great highway ride. The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe is overall a good choice. I mean real good, as long as you're willing to make a few sacrifices. In my book, the regular GV80 is outstanding on its own, even without the supercharger and mild-hybrid system. The four-cylinder works great, and it's a much more affordable vehicle, but the Coupe provides a different body style with an even more impressive powertrain and an equally luxe cabin. Personally, the SUV would be my choice, but at least the brand offers customers the power of choice.

Baseball, Hot Dogs, And A Genesis GV80: How To Road Trip In Arizona

Genesis GV80 Kristin Shaw If you're a baseball fan but have never stepped foot in a major league baseball spring training facility, start making plans for next season. There's something special and magical about the spring training games, and you can find them in the Phoenix, Arizona area as well as several cities across Florida. One thing you're going to need, in either region, is a car to get from stadium to stadium. This year, I piloted a Genesis GV80 for spring break, and it got me and my family to the games in style and plush comfort. Several years ago, my family and I explored the Grapefruit League and attended eight games in six different ballparks over 13 days. It was quite the baseball gauntlet, especially since the games in Florida are spread out across the state. In Arizona, the ballparks are all roughly within an hour of each other. That makes it a lot easier to see more fields and more teams. My favorite home base is the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, located northeast of Phoenix in the posh Scottsdale neighborhood. Sloan Park, home of the Cubs, is only 20 minutes away and even the furthest fields are a pleasant ride from the Princess. This year, my family and I stayed in a Privado suite, one of the well-appointed villas that has its own valet and check-in station. The Privado section looks over one of the meticulously-kept golf courses on the property, framed by gorgeous flowers and rock gardens. It was an easy walk to the resort's eateries from our villa. I highly recommend La Hacienda for excellent margaritas and tableside guacamole; if you do, do not miss the spectacular flaming coffee for dessert, which combines tequila, coffee, cream, and cinnamon with a show of fire. The Genesis GV80 is a great match at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, holding its own next to alternative luxury rides driven by other guests. I even spotted a 90s-era Ferrari a visitor had purchased just weeks before (likely at the annual Barrett-Jackson auction nearby). Car and Driver rates the Genesis GV80 a 10 out of 10, and for good reason. The brand is part of the massive Hyundai Motor Group as the luxury arm of this growing company. Kia is also under the HMG umbrella, cranking out hit after hit like the Telluride and Sorento. Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia have launched creative and beautiful concept cars in past years, with no signs of slowing down. I'm particularly excited about the X convertible concept unveiled at the Los Angeles auto show two years ago. Psst, Genesis, let's see this one in production! Equipped with two engine options--a 300-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and or a 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6--the Genesis GV80 offers excellent handling around town and on the highway. While the V6 is markedly more thrilling during acceleration, fuel economy takes a hit from 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway with the inline-four to 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway with the larger engine. The Genesis GV80 SUV is road-trip ready. Kristin Shaw Inside the GV80, ambient lighting accentuates wood and metal trim for an elegant feel. A 27-inch display wraps across the dashboard, and the map graphics are crisp and clear. The wireless smartphone charger worked well as long as no other items were placed on top of phone (like earbuds or keys). At nearly 35 cubic feet behind the second row, there was more than enough space for our luggage for a weekend trip; we could have doubled our luggage allotment easily. I found the upscale Bang & Olufsen audio system to be immersive, with high-quality sound. Need a road trip tune suggestion? Try 'Panama' by Van Halen or for something newer, go with 'Stargazing' by Myles Smith. Last, but certainly not least, one of my favorite features of the Genesis GV80 is its extensive warranty: 10 years for the powertrain, a 5-year limited warranty, and 3 years of complimentary maintenance. All in all, excellent value starting at around $60,000 for the base model.

Shopping for a 2025 BMW X5? Here's What Experts Say You Should Look at Instead

Don't look now, but the BMW X5 is celebrating a quarter century as a luxurious two-row, athletic SUV. Its power and agility make it a righteous family hauler, one that pampers as well as pleases. It's offered as the rear-wheel-drive sDrive40i or the all-wheel-drive xDrive40i, powered by a turbocharged, 3.0-liter, inline-six-cylinder engine that sends 375 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic transmission. That package gives it a 0-to-60 mph run of 5.2 seconds, according to BMW. Need more speed? Consider the all-wheel-drive M60i xDrive, with its 523-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 mild hybrid, also hitched to the eight-speed with all-wheel drive and one second faster to 60 mph. There's also the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid with up to 40 miles of pure electric range, but that's reviewed elsewhere as it's a different animal. All 2025 BMW X5s require premium fuel and sport a towing capacity of 7,200 pounds. Some notable techy features include rear-wheel steering and Highway Assistant, a semi-autonomous driving system, in the M60i xDrive. Going off-road? The X5 has an approach angle of 25 degrees, a ramp breakover angle of 20 degrees, and a departure angle of 22 degrees. The X-Offroad package adds a wading depth of around 20 inches and a ground clearance of 8.3 inches. The interior features a mammoth curved display that includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a sizable 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. The updated user interface takes a step backward in ease of use, and the instrument cluster graphics are unnecessarily busy. The tech works well otherwise, and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot are standard. The cabin provides 106 cubic feet of passenger space and 36 cubic feet of cargo space that expands to 72 cubic feet with the rear seats stowed, which is typical of this segment. Its roof can also carry an additional 165 pounds of gear. But say all of your friends and neighbors drive an X5, and you'd like something different. Here are some different options that might fit your needs. The Genesis is riced below rival luxury automakers, but it does equal much of their luxury experience while undercutting their prices. That said, the Genesis GV80 wears its humble corporate origins in its base model and its unassuming 300-horsepower, turbocharged, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. Since when is a four-cylinder engine luxurious? It's better to opt for the 375-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 if you favor smoothness and refinement. Both engines come with an eight-speed transmission, all-wheel drive, and require premium fuel. Towing is rated at 6,000 pounds with trailer brakes. The 2025 Genesis GV80 has an approach angle of 19 degrees, a breakover angle of 18.5 degrees, a departure angle of 23 degrees, and ground clearance of 8.1 inches. The GV80's aftermarket roof rack is designed to carry up to 220 pounds. The interior is larger than most of its competition, with 108.7 cubic feet of passenger space and 36.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Opting for the 3.5T Advance trim nets a third-row seat good only for people you despise and reduces cargo space to 11.5 cubic feet. The GV80 comforts and coddles while delivering surprisingly adept handling. Its cabin is quiet, and although the interior trim is traditional, it succeeds in being something special, and that's what great luxury vehicles are all about. SUVS rarely get posher than Land Rover's Range Rover, and the Range Rover Sport is its shorter, two-row sibling. Model choices include the 355-horsepower P360 with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six mild hybrid powertrain, the 395-horsepower P400 with an inline-six, and the 523-horsepower P530's twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8. The P550e plug-in-hybrid and high-performance Range Rover Sport SV are reviewed elsewhere. All Range Rover Sports come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and an adaptive air suspension. An optional Stormer Handling package adds rear-wheel steering and a torque vectoring rear differential. The Range Rover Sport's smaller stature doesn't diminish its capability, proving perfectly competent when hardcore off-roading, yet delivering confident on-road athleticism and ride control with its air suspension. There's a seriousness to its feel, and a solidity that speaks to its capability. Towing is rated at 7,716 pounds, with a roof rack capacity of 220 pounds. Its approach angle is 33 degrees, its departure angle is 30 degrees, and its ramp breakover angle is 27 degrees. The wading depth is an impressive 35.4 inches with an equally as impressive 11.1-inch ground clearance. Passenger space is average for the class at 105 cubic feet, as is cargo space at 32 cubic feet, expanding to 66 cubic feet with the rear seats down. Its cabin, however, is positively posh. There's a 13.7-inch instrument cluster and a 13.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. The cabin's finishes are artfully sleek and modern, with an ambience that's unmistakably Range Rover. There's a Teutonic grandeur to the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class that, like the Range Rover Sport, is uniquely its own. Its quality is apparent through its use of fine materials that are rich but not flashy. It also has the roomiest cabin here, with 111 cubic feet of passenger space and 33 cubic feet of cargo space. The infotainment screen measures 12.3 inches, as does the digital instrument cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a mobile 4G Wi-Fi hotspot are standard. Like the Genesis, its trim levels start with the 255-hp, turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder GLE350, but why would you deny yourself? Better to choose the GLE450, with its 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder mild hybrid system and all-wheel drive. Why stop there, though? Go for the GLE580 with its 504-horsepower twin-turbocharged mild hybrid system. It yields a 4.3-second 0-60 mph run, 2.3 seconds quicker than the GLE350. A nine-speed automatic is standard on all trims, with both rear- and all-wheel drive models available. Towing is rated at an impressive 7,700 pounds. Heading off-road? The GLE-Class has a 25-degree approach angle, a 25-degree departure angle, a 17-degree ramp breakover angle, and a wading depth of 20 inches. Its minimum ground clearance is 8 inches. Overall, its performance is competitive, and it proves to be beautifully balanced, comfortable, and quiet. Some competitors are more athletic, others more cossetting. This one is Goldilocks—just right. It's no surprise that the Porsche Cayenne is the sportiest of this bunch. If you like to haul ass as much as you like to haul people and cargo, this is your SUV. It's the sports cars of SUVs, possessing the speed and agility you expect of the marque. The Cayenne is offered in traditional SUV, Coupe, and Hybrid models, with the latter two covered elsewhere. The Cayenne comes with a 348-horsepower 3.0-liter V6, while the Cayenne S has a 468-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. There's also a Cayenne Turbo GT, but that's in a far different class and covered elsewhere as well. An eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. Reaching 60 mph takes 5.4 seconds in the base Cayenne and 4.5 seconds in the Cayenne S. Towing is rated at 7,716 pounds. It has a 25-degree approach angle, a 22.3-degree departure angle, an 18.9-degree ramp breakover angle, and a wading depth of 19.6 inches. Its minimum ground clearance is 8 inches. The cabin size is slightly smaller than the others here, at 104 cubic feet, as is the cargo space, at 24 cubic feet, or 52 cubic feet with the rear seats stowed. The instrument panel features a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 5G WI-FI hotspot. A 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen is optional, but the 12.3-inch instrument cluster is standard. The Cayenne's smaller space should be expected in what is easily the sports car of SUVs. That a sporting car has this much space speaks to today's technology and what it's capable of. It's an amazingly fun-to-drive SUV. Despite not being the spry athlete it once was, the 2025 BMW X5 has an expertly balanced driving persona that falls somewhere between the Porsche Cayenne's extreme agility and the luxuriously indulgent Genesis GV80. It's certainly among the best in its class, but that doesn't preclude one of its rivals, which may be more appealing to you. The Range Rover Sport is a perfectly sized posh off-roader, yet one that can get down and dirty. The Mercedes-Benz GLE is easily the best balanced, with a harder edge and more artful interior than the BMW. But it's the Porsche Cayenne that will grab the hearts of driving enthusiasts. Which one is best depends on what you require in a midsize luxury SUV.
