Donnarumma's agent slams PSG for showing ‘zero respect' by axing goalkeeper from squad
New Delhi: Gianluigi Donnarumma's agent Enzo Raiola has revealed he was shocked after Paris Saint-Germain showed 'zero respect' by axing the Italian goalkeeper from the squad ahead of their UEFA Super Cup fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday. Donnarumma played a major role in PSG's historic treble campaign and his heroics in the UEFA Champions League saw the Parisians lift the coveted title for the first time in club history. At just 26 years of age, many are questioning the decision to let a player of his calibre leave. Reports suggest Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in securing his signature. 'We are shocked by PSG. There's zero respect by the club after four years together. PSG had made various demands. In the end, we accepted an offer lower than Gigio's current salary because he wanted to stay. Then they changed the rules, and at that point, we broke off negotiations to meet again after the Champions League final. We met again before the Club World Cup, and they confirmed their willingness to continue. We didn't expect what happened in the last ten days. "I understand the need to buy a new goalkeeper, but dismissing Gigio after everything he's done for the club is a huge lack of respect that I will assess with my lawyers. Beyond the fact that it was the coach who made this decision, he also works for the club, and my lawyers and I want to better understand their position," Raiola told Sky Italy. Donnarumma confirmed he will be leaving the club through social media on Tuesday, and claimed 'someone has decided' he is no longer a part of the side. "To the special Paris fans, from the first day I arrived, I gave everything -- on and off the pitch -- to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain. "Unfortunately someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team's success. I am disappointed and disheartened,' the goalkeeper wrote on Instagram. Earlier in the day, PSG boss Luis Enrique said he was "100% responsible" for the "difficult decision" to leave Donnarumma out of the squad. "Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, no doubt, and even better as a person but this is the life of high-level footballers. I am 100% responsible for this difficult decision,' Enrique told Sky Italy

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has reached an agreement to join Manchester City, according to reports in France. The Italy international says he has been left 'disappointed and disheartened' over the club's decision to sell him before the end of the summer transfer window. PSG have already signed a replacement for Donnarumma, with Lucas Chevalier joining from Lille in a deal worth €40 million (£34.6m) plus €15m (£12.9m) in add-ons. Donnarumma has now been left out of PSG's squad for their Super Cup final against Tottenham on Wednesday night as the 26-year-old attempts to find a new club. Both Manchester United and Manchester City have held talks with Donnarumma's agent, Enzo Raiola, over a possible move to the Premier League this summer. 'Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, no doubt, and even better as a person,' Luis Enrique said. 'But this is the life of high-level footballers. I am 100 per cent responsible for this difficult decision. 'If it were easy, anyone would do it, these decisions have to do with the profile of the goalkeeper that my team needs.' Paris Saint-Germain star Gianluigi Donnarumma has been linked with a sensational summer switch to Manchester United and his agent has already offered his thoughts on a switch Gianluigi Donnarumma's agent has already dismissed one potential rival to Manchester United by ruling out a switch to Napoli. The Italian goalkeeper faces an uncertain future with European champions Paris Saint-Germain. He has just a year left on his deal with the French giants and despite PSG chiefs attempting to tie him down, an agreement has yet to be found. That has opened the door to United, rivals Manchester City and Real Madrid. Reports have also suggested that that Donnarumma has been discussing the prospect of a move to the Premier League with his Italian teammates. Meanwhile, Donnarumma's agent Enzo Raiola has already denied that talks have been held with Serie A champions Napoli, who were also credited with an interest. Speaking to Radio CRC via Calciomercato, he said: "It's pure fantasy. I've an excellent relationship with Director Giovanni Manna at [Napoli], but we've never discussed Gigio. "It's an obvious question; many would like him, but only a few can afford him. He feels good in Paris, we're at the European champion club, so we have no complaints. We are working on a renewal [with PSG]." He added: "His mother is a huge Napoli fan, and she gets anxious watching their games. Gigio is connected to that.' Another side who have been linked with Donnarumma is former club AC Milan. The 26-year-old originally left the club to complete a free transfer to PSG in 2021. And Raiola has claimed that he would be open to a return to the San Siro. He said: 'I have never ruled out interest from the top Italian clubs, but there has never been a negotiation, let's see. He is still young, I have to squeeze him for at least another 10 years. 'At the moment, however, it is very difficult to see Donnarumma in the Italian championship, I'm not just talking about numbers but also about the sporting project. In Italy, beyond Inter who reached the Champions League final, there are Milan and Juve who are struggling, they are in the process of reorganizing: these factors are fundamental. "A return to Milan? Why not? We took Pogba from Manchester United to Juventus and then back to Juventus. There are no impossible things. Milan, even if it is not at its best, is always a very respectable club, which Gigio will always thank. They pampered and raised him, so Gigio will always have an important affection and gratitude towards the Rossoneri.' Donnarumma has already spoken out on his own future and refused to commit his future to PSG. He said: 'New deal or leaving? We will see what happens… I don't know. Still just 26 years old, Donnarumma has now added the Champions League to his CV which already boasts four Ligue 1 titles and the European Championship won with Italy in 2021. His future is in question, though, as his contract in Paris only runs until the summer of 2026, alerting the attention of interested parties. As one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, there would be no shortage of suitors for Donnarumma, with the likes of Premier League giants Manchester City and Serie A champions Napoli linked with a move. The possibility of a return to Italy with Napoli was put to the player's agent, Enzo Raiola, and while he noted that Donnarumma's mother is a fan of the club, the idea is fanciful. 'His mother is a huge Napoli fan, and she gets anxious watching their games. Gigio is connected to that,' Raiola told Radio CRC via 'He grew up as a Milan supporter, watching his older brothers in a Rossoneri shirt, but he never denied his roots. 'It's pure fantasy. I've an excellent relationship with Director Giovanni Manna, but we've never discussed Gigio.' Raiola also pointed out that there are few clubs who could meet his client's demands and that talks over a new deal with PSG are ongoing.
