Hypercar, hyper-price: Corvette ZR1X brings the thunder for over $200k

The Chevy Corvette ZR1X hypercar is all about the numbers. Zero-to-60 in less than two seconds, 233 mph top speed, 1,250 horsepower, 6.49.3-minute lap time around the 12.9-mile Nürburgring circuit in Germany. Now we know the number that will allow you access to those performance numbers. The ZR1X will start at $207,395 for the standard 1LZ coupe, making it the first Corvette to list at over 200 grand. A special edition Quail Silver Limited Edition will launch at $241,395 and be previewed at the Quail Motorsports Gathering in California on Friday, Aug. 15. The all-wheel-drive, hybrid-electric ZR1X and its sister, rear-wheel-drive, 1,064-horsepower ZR1 are the top-drawer models of an eighth-generation Corvette lineup that begins with the 495-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8-powered Corvette Stingray priced at $70,195. Two other models are available: the road-focused, hybrid E-Ray at $108,795 and the track-focused Z06 stuffed with the C8.R race-car's high-revving, 5.5-liter V-8 starting at $116,995. The ZR1X's nosebleed price is still a fraction of comparable European hyper exotics like the $3.7 million, 1,184-horsepower Ferrari F80 and $2.1 million, 1,258-horsepower McLaren W1 - not to mention the $2.7 million Mercedes AMG One hypercar that owns the Nürburgring lap record at 6.29.0 minutes. It is also about $120k cheaper than Ford's Mustang GTD supercar, which starts at $327,960 (the Mustang ran the Nürburgring in 6.52.1 minutes). In this supercar age of insane numbers, hypercar is defined as an all-wheel-drive sportscar making in excess of 1,000 horses. The ZR1X's Nürburgring time, set by Corvette engineer Drew Cattell, is the fastest lap produced by an American-made auto and the fastest lap recorded by a non-pro driver. Other ZR1X model pricing includes $217,395 for the 1LZ hardtop convertible. The ZR1X 3LZ coupe will start with an MSRP of $218,395 for the 3LZ coupe, and the 3LZ convertible at $228,395. In an indication of the ZR1X's play for exotic car buyers, the Quail Silver Limited Edition will be shown at the exclusive Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, California during Monterey Car Week on Friday, Aug. 15 - a long way from the next day's Woodward Dream Cruise, where hundreds of Corvette owners will cruise Motown's main street. The McLaren W1 hypercar is also making its debut at Monterey Car Week. The Quail Silver Limited Edition - exclusively available on the ZR1X 3LZ convertible - is a showcase for material finery including Blade Silver Matte, Corvette's first production matte finish since the 1960s. The color was inspired by the first-generation, 1957-59 Corvette's Inca Silver paint color. "Corvettes are the pride and joy of their owners - they honor its craftmanship and design as much as its engineering excellence," said Scott Bell, vice president of Global Chevrolet. "The ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition presents a highly exclusive option for Corvette customers looking for a collectible item." A "Limited Edition" plaque is included along the interior waterfall speaker, complete with build number. The interior is dressed in what Chevy calls Sky Cool & Medium Ash Gray with Habanero accents - a new color scheme available for all 2026 Corvette models. Other Quail Edition highlights include orange brake calipers, black exhaust tips and carbon-black mirrors. Under the skin, the limited-edition model shares the same steroid-fed drivetrain as other ZR1X models. The hypercar is essentially a combination of the technologies found on other C8 'Vettes: all-wheel-drive and front electric motor from the E-Ray; 5.5-liter, dual-overhead-cam engine from the Z06 amidships; twin-turbochargers like the ZR1; updated 2026 interior with more efficient, high-tech console. The result is a stratospheric 1,250 horsepower and neck-snapping acceleration for occupants coddled by a luxury interior. Production of the hypercar begins later this year at Corvette's assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Copyright (C) 2025, Tribune Content Agency, LLC. 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X Starts At $207,395, But The Quail Silver Limited Edition Is Even More

The first mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette is proving to be very capable at handling absurd levels of power, several specialized powertrain configurations, and never-before-seen-on-a-Corvette prices. That last measure is about to be topped, though, as Chevrolet announced prices on Wednesday for its newest ultimate 'Vette, the recently unveiled 2026 Corvette ZR1X. The cheapest ZR1X 1LZ coupe starts at $207,395, and the 1LZ convertible starts at $217,395. Those base prices increase to $218,395 for the ZR1X 3LZ coupe and $228,395 for the 3LZ convertible. Each of the aforementioned prices include a $1,995 delivery charge, but the most expensive and most rare 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X will be the Quail Silver Limited Edition. Chevrolet says the ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition is based on the 3LZ convertible trim, and it will be limited to under 100 units with the highest starting MSRP of any Corvette ever at $241,395 before delivery fees. (We assume it'll have the same $1,995 destination charge as the others.) Scott Bell, vice president of Global Chevrolet says, "The ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition presents a highly exclusive option for Corvette customers looking for a collectible item." With such low production numbers and such a high price, this might be the ultimate Corvette collector's Corvette. Read more: This Is Every Car Brand Killed By GM The Quail Silver Limited Edition Debuts At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering The Corvette ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition gets its name for two reasons: it debuts at The Quail on Friday, August 15 during Monterey Car Week, and it's painted silver. Not just any silver though. Called Blade Silver Matte, this is the first time matte paint has been offered from the factory on a Corvette. Chevrolet says it's inspired by the Inca Silver exterior color offered on the C1 Corvette between 1957 and 1959. Beyond the paint, Quail Silver Limited Edition Corvette ZR1Xs will include a new interior color scheme that will also be available on all 2026 Corvettes, Sky Cool and Medium Ash Gray upholstery with Habanero accents. They will all have limited edition plaques on the center-mounted waterfall speaker with their production number, as well as orange brake calipers, black exhaust tips, and Carbon Flash mirrors. As an optional extra, ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition buyers can opt for the ZTK Performance Package that includes higher spring rates and modified chassis controls calibrations, the ZR1X Carbon Fiber Aero Package, and Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tires. Performance Refresher The ZR1X's party piece is its hybrid powertrain, which combines a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 V8 that produces 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque with a front axle–mounted electric motor fed by a 1.9-kWh battery that produces 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. Combined, Chevrolet claims a total horsepower output of 1,250 jp, and a 0-to-60-mph time of less than 2 seconds, and a top speed of 233 mph. Chevy is swinging big with the ZR1X, even going so far as to compare its stats to the $3.7 million Ferrari F80 and the $2.1 million McLaren W1 in the press release. Chevrolet says that the 2026 Corvette ZR1X will be available by the end of this year, and that the Quail Silver Limited Edition will enter production next year. Chevrolet will also debut GM Design's inspiration for the future of the Corvette alongside the ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition at The Quail on Friday, August 15. Want more like this?
