Father charged after toddler fatally shoots sister
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Wichita father is facing criminal charges after his 3-year-old daughter allegedly shot and killed her 1-year-old sister inside their home, according to court records filed in Sedgwick County District Court, detailing the events leading up to the incident. Michael Tejeda, 24, was arrested in connection with the February 28 incident, in which his toddler daughter reportedly accessed his unsecured firearm and fired a fatal shot at her younger sister. Authorities responded to the scene after Tejeda called 911, frantically asking his daughter why she had pulled the trigger. According to court records, he frantically called 911, questioning his toddler about why she had pulled the trigger. The child's mother was not home at the time. She told police she received a FaceTime call from Tejeda, who informed her of the shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, she comforted her 3-year-old daughter, who repeatedly apologized. A forensic examination determined that the fatal gunshot was fired from an intermediate range of one to three feet. Investigators found the firearm in Tejeda's bedroom after he allegedly moved it following the shooting. A background check revealed Tejeda had a prior felony conviction for drug-related charges and was still under court supervision at the time of the incident. Tejeda has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting, two counts of aggravated endangering of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon. High Schooler in Wisconsin referred after bringing replica gun to school, no ongoing threats
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WFRV) – A report that a student in Wisconsin had a replica gun in their backpack at school led to a questioning and a swift investigation on Thursday. According to the Sun Prairie Police Department, the School Resource Officer was notified that a student at West High School had a facsimile firearm, a replica pellet gun of a Glock 19X in their backpack. Sheriff: 18, 24-year-old arrested out of state in connection to Wisconsin homicide The student fully cooperated with questioning from authorities and was joined by a parent at the Sun Prairie Police Department. An investigation into the incident determined that the replica was never displayed or used in a threatening way and no ongoing threat is perceived at this time. The student will be referred for possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds, as officials emphasized via the release that whether or not it's a replica, any weapon is prohibited on campus. Man arrested in Walton County with pistol and blade after trespassing
WALTON COUNTY, FLa. (WMBB) – The Walton County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Deer Run East after a resident reported that they confronted someone inside a fenced-in area of their property allegedly armed with a gun. An Everbridge notification was sent to nearby residents to be on alert and expect a large presence of law enforcement in the area. Walton Correctional K-9 teams, Office of City Marshal, DeFuniak Springs Police, and Okaloosa Correctional K-9 Teams were called to assist. One dead following crash in Liberty County After an extensive search, 47-year-old Christopher Miller was located by K-9 Teams and WCSO Sergeant. Officials said Miller was found carrying a loaded Glock 19 X and a blade. Miller currently has an active warrant out of DeFuniak Springs Police for theft and is also being charged with possession of methamphetamine, armed trespassing, and more. Police chase on foot through snow leads to two arrests in Warren
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Warren man is facing numerous charges after a late-night chase this weekend. According to police reports, officers were attempting to make a traffic stop on a 2012 Chevy Traverse that failed to use a turn signal at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The car did not stop, leading to a pursuit. Reports state the chase started southbound on Parkman Road and ended eastbound on Union Street, with the car stopping and two passengers getting out of the vehicle. After officers failed to arrest the driver due to snowy and icy conditions, a Taser was deployed two times. Each time, the driver was able to get back up and an officer reported that he appeared to have a firearm in hand, the report stated. The driver then fell and was apprehended, according to reports. No firearm was found, the report stated. A K-9 did find a Glock 19X in the backyard of a home in the 1600 block of Hamilton St., the report stated. The driver, identified in the report as Tayjhon Baugh, was charged with failure to comply with order, improperly handling firearms, obstructing official business, driving under a suspended license, signaling before changing course and having weapons under disability. The passenger, Rae'kwon Rodgers, was also taken into custody after a chase with another officer, according to the report. Rodgers was arrested on an outstanding warrant on a possession of dangerous drugs charge, and he was charged with obstructing official business.
