Where is ‘Weapons' filmed? Behind the filming locations of 2025's best horror.
If Zach Cregger explored the dingy basements of a Airbnb in Barbarian, he's going bigger with his follow-up effort Weapons. His new horror movie has US filmmaker rustling up the sleepy suburban town of Maybrook, a gloomy Pennsylvanian locale that feels like it belongs in a Stephen King novel. Weapons starts off on one such gloomy night in Newport, more specifically at 2.17 am in the night when 17 elementary schoolers step out of their house, their arms stretched out, transfixed by an invisible power of sorts. What happens next is a town crumbling into chaos. The school turn into a hunting ground for the missing children's teacher (Julia Garner). The liquor store attracts all sorts of eerie visitors. And a particular gas station hosts a blood-oozing, eye-popping altercation that is crowd-pleasing shlock at its finest. The burning question is: what happened to those children at 2.17 am? Once you know the answers, the question remains: is Maybrook, Pennsylvania real? Where did they film Weapons? It turns out that Maybrook is actually Atlanta, Georgia. Cregger's brief to production designer Tom Hammock was to create 'a small New Eastern town'. For inspiration, Hammock studied the communities outside cities like Philadelphia, Cleveland and Cincinnati. The production designer, who worked on Ti West's stylish gonzo horror X and the ultra-maximalist Godzilla x Kong films, stuck closer to reality with this one. '[Zach] wanted everything to appear as normal as possible. He wanted the audience to buy into this town as being the most normal place in the world.' Principal photography began in May 2024 in Atlanta, wrapping in July. But filming in midsummer in Georgia is a sweaty affair, especially on soundstages without air-conditioning. To combat the heat, dozens of yards of tubing were installed to supply A/C. Where is the real Maybrook Elementary school? Maybrook's local elementary turns into a disturbing sight after the mass disappearance. While classes resume, the school is shrouded in memorial flowers, photographs, and banners to commemorate 'the Maybrook 17'. This school from Weapons is actually Brockett Elementary in Tucker, a city in Georgia a few miles outside Atlanta. The school's mascot, a friendly-looking bobcat giving a thumbs up, looks reassuring after the gory chaos of Weapons. On the busiest days of filming, the production would be home to more than 170 children. Child labour coordinators were enlisted to keep the kids engaged when not filming. Now, coming to that gas station scene… While the trailers and promos of Weapons were deliberately ominous, the film didn't pull back from teasing that shockingly entertaining gas station scene. The one with a bloodied Benedict Wong running in a fit of unhinged frenzy and pinning down Julia Garner. They filmed that sequence in unnerving daylight at a BP gas station in Covington, Georgia. The Weapons crew filmed there for three days, utilising both the filling stations and the adjacent To Go convenience store. Hopefully, those blood stains on the forecourt got hosed down. Who stars in Weapons? Julia Garner, the Ozark actress who was last seen as Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: First Steps, leads the cast as Justine, the troubled teacher of the class that went missing. The cast also includes other MCU veterans like Thanos actor Josh Brolin and Benedict Wong who played the sorcerer Wong in Doctor Strange. Brolin stars as a grieving father driven to the brink of desperation while Wong plays the principal of Justine's school. Austin Abrams (Wolfs, Euphoria) stars as a homeless junkie who is chased by an adulterous short-tempered cop played by Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Fair Play). Newcomer Cary Christopher also shines as Alex, the only student in the class who doesn't disappear. Where can I watch Weapons? It's in cinemas worldwide now.

Nintendo pushes the Zelda live-action film for production improvements: Aims to get it right, not just fast
It looks like Link is taking the scenic route to the big screen. Fans waiting for the legendary Zelda live-action movie must hold on longer. But here's the twist — this delay might be great news. In a world of rushed game-to-film adaptations, Nintendo's decision to slow down could be the exact move that sets The Legend of Zelda apart. The new release date has shifted, but only slightly This is Miyamoto. For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it… Nintendo officially announced that the Zelda movie's release has been postponed from its original slot to May 7, 2027. The update was shared by Shigeru Miyamoto, who stated that the delay was due to "production reasons" and a desire to enhance the final quality. Nintendo wants to do it right — not just fast The announcement signals Nintendo's commitment to getting things right. Zelda is one of the most beloved franchises ever, so the stakes are too high for a rushed adaptation. Here's why the delay could be the best thing for the movie: Protecting the brand – After The Super Mario Bros. Movie smashed box office records, expectations for Zelda are sky-high. Here's what we know about the film so far: Produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Tone: Expected to be deeper and more epic than Mario's fun-filled adventure Style: Full live-action, promising cinematic storytelling and high fantasy Delay isn't just for polish—it's a smart strategy The six-week delay may not just be about quality. Fans on X and Reddit also suggest this could be a strategic move to avoid clashes with other big titles like Sonic 4 and Godzilla x Kong. Why this move could pay off? Prime summer debut: May offers a strong slot with reduced competition from Marvel and other blockbusters. Brand protection: As the Super Mario Bros. Movie proved, timing and polish matter when adapting primary gaming IP. With names like Shigeru Miyamoto and Wes Ball leading the project, fans can expect a movie filled with high fantasy, cinematic visuals, and the magic of Hyrule. From Link's heroic quest to the secrets of the Triforce, this delay could mean we're in for something unforgettable. And if that means waiting a bit longer for a film that feels like Zelda — it might just be worth it. To stay updated on the stories that are going viral follow Indiatimes Trending.

Streaming platform Netflix is set to axe a huge number of shows from its list including Batman Begins and Godzilla x Kong during the month of June amid a mass cull Netflix is set to cut a string of TV shows and films in the month of June for those in America. The films that are set to leave a number of film buffs devastated include Batman Begins, which was released in 2005, along with The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. But the iconic franchises are not the only shows to face the mass cull by the streaming giant. So too are children's TV shows such as Alvinnn!!! And The Chipmunks and Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom. The shows to be cut on June 1 include 100 Days with Tata, which was released in 2021. This is followed by Batman Begins, Burlesque, Closer and Magic Mike XXL. Another string of shows on June 1 include Cult of Chucky, Den Thieves, Ted and Ted 2, and Two Weeks Notice. On June 11, Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story is being axed along with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire on June 14 and Carol on June 17. From June 19 through to the 26, Father Figures, American Sniper, Brain on Fire and two seasons of Signs will also be removed from Netflix. But this is not the first time the streaming platform has axed a number of shows. Back in November 2023, fans were left gutted at the removal of Shadow and Bone, despite the second series of the TV show being one of Netflix's most watched list. In addition, Six of Crows was also pulled. Taking to X, one fan wrote: "Shadow and bone cancelled no one talk to me omg just ruined my week." Another said: "I just woke up and Shadow and Bone has been cancelled by Netflix… I don't know how to process this except to say that…WE WERE ROBBED THE HEIST!!!!!" Meanwhile a third person penned: "Gutted to hear that Shadow & Bone has been cancelled. I thought the show was fabulous." And Leigh Bardugo, who is the author of both series took to Instagram to vent her frustration. She said at the time: "Friends, by now you've probably heard that there will be no season three for Shadow and Bone and no Six of Crows spinoff. The news hit me hard. I'm heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I'm also trying to hold onto my very real gratitude." She added: "Most authors never get to see their work adapted. Many who do end up regretting the experience. I'm one of the lucky few who can look at an adaptation with pride and tremendous joy. I am so grateful to our writers, our crew, and our extraordinary cast who are not just wildly talented, but genuinely good people." She went on to say: "Most of all I want to saw how grateful I am to the folks reading this – whether you found your way to the books first or discovered them through the show. " She continued: "The Grishaverse is a better place because of you and I am so thankful for every tweet, post, comment, review, artwork, fic, tattoo and cosplay that helped to make all of this possible. She concluded her post: "We're book people and that means we never stop imagining that magic can be made real. You are proof of that. Now, I'm going to go have a cry, and maybe a drink, and then see where the story takes us next."

Title announced for Godzilla x Kong sequel
'Godzilla x Kong: Supernova' is the new title for the ''Godzilla x Kong' sequel. Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O'Connell, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Sam Neill are set to star in the film, which will be released on March 26, 2027. 'I Am Mother' director Grant Sputore is to helm the movie, which has been penned by 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' writer David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green. Although specific plot details for sequel have not been revealed, Deadline previously reported the film will introduce several new human characters who will join the titular Titans as they face off against a new world-ending threat. Starring Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens and Brian Tyree Henry 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' followed the legendary Titans, Godzilla and Kong, as they joined forces to face a powerful new threat rising from within Hollow Earth - one that poses a danger to both their kind and the future of humanity. It was previously announced that 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' director Adam Wingard would not be helming the next movie due to scheduling conflicts. The Hollywood Reporter said at the time that the filmmaker's departure was amicable, and the door had not been closed on Wingard returning to direct another film in the Monsterverse in the future. Despite his exit, Wingard previously teased he had 'more story to tell' in the Monsterverse. He told Discussing Film ahead of 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's cinematic debut in March 2024: 'The whole idea that if you've done two movies, like, maybe you should just go ahead and do a third because, as you said, there's a trilogy in there. 'It just depends on how ['Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire'] does and how things kind of shape out. 'I do have more story to tell with these monsters, and I know where I'd go with it. I would be very excited to be able to come back on for another one if things worked out!' Legendary's Monsterverse launched in 2014 with 'Godzilla', followed by the introduction of King Kong in 2017's 'Kong: Skull Island'. The franchise continued with 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' in 2019, leading to the epic showdown between the two Titans in 2021's 'Godzilla vs. Kong'. The Monsterverse has since expanded to television, with the animated spin-off series 'Skull Island' on Netflix and the Apple TV+ series 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters'.
