Kendrick Lamar and SZA have been sharing the spotlight with each other on their current Grand National Tour, and the 'All the Stars' collaborators are bringing their A-list friends into the fold during select shows. More from Billboard Run-DMC's 'It's Like That' Reimagined By LEGO & Global Girls Crew as Women Empowerment Anthem Offset Deactivates Social Media Amid Ongoing Drama With Cardi B & Stefon Diggs The Game Picks His Top 100 L.A. Rappers: 'This My List, Punk!' Playboi Carti was the first guest performer, popping out for 'Good Credit' at the Atlanta show in April after Dot had been performing the MUSIC track solo since the tour's opening night in Minneapolis on April 19. Both Baby Keem and Kaytranada came out as surprise guests, performing 'Family Ties' and Teedra Moses' 'Be Your Girl,' respectively, during the concert at the 'Kill Bill' singer's home state of New Jersey earlier in May. While SZA performed her 'Consideration' collaboration with Rihanna from the latter's iconic 2016 album Anti at the Jersey stop, fans could only hope and dream that RiRi would one day join her on stage. The stars have also been spotted on the sidelines, as videos of Pusha T attending their Foxborough show went viral. After AzChike performed during the DJ Hed & Friends portion of The Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert on Juneteenth last year, he became the first featured rapper on GNX to pop out as a guest during the trio of shows in Lamar's hometown of Los Angeles in May, when they performed 'Peekaboo' together. Meanwhile, SZA brought out Lizzo and Justin Bieber during the other two LA nights to perform the remixes of 'Special' and 'Snooze,' respectively. Billboard rounded up all the guest stars who've popped up at the Grand National Tour, in order of oldest to most recent appearance. Dot brought out Baby Boi in the latter rapper's hometown of Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on April 29. The Interscope labelmates performed 'Good Credit' off Carti's Billboard 200-topping album MUSIC. 'Good Credit' reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the duo's other collaboration on the album, 'Backd00r' also featuring Jhené Aiko, peaked at No. 25. Lamar brought out his younger cousin Baby Keem to perform 'Family Ties' at East Rutherford's MetLife Stadium on May 10. The pgLang dynamic duo took over arenas three years ago when Keem was one of the supporting acts for Lamar's Big Steppers Tour. They also headlined Camp Flog Gnaw in 2023, when they were billed as 'The Hillbillies.' SZA had Kaytranada on the 1s and 2s while they performed his viral remix of Teedra Moses' 'Be Your Girl' during their MetLife Stadium tour stop on May 10. 'The OG of this song raised me . Kaytras version activates meee . Complex simplicity was so nuts . Humblest love to Teedra,' SZA wrote on X. Kaytra also DJed the after party for her Not Beauty brand that same night, which Lizzo and Ty Dolla $ign also attended. SZA brought out her 'best friend' Lizzo 'for energy and positivity' during her and Dot's first SoFi Stadium stop in Inglewood, Calif., on May 21. They performed their remix of Lizzo's 'Special' from her 2022 Grammy-nominated album of the same name. 'Special' earned Lizzo her first and SZA's second No. 1 hit on Adult R&B Airplay in 2023 and hit the top 10 of Rhythmic Airplay. SZA invited Justin Bieber to perform their 'Snooze' remix at their second SoFi Stadium stop on May 23. Bieber was featured on the acoustic version of 'Snooze' in September 2023, months after it was released as the sixth single from her 2022 blockbuster album SOS. 'Snooze' reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and won the Grammy for best R&B song last year. AzChike popped out to perform 'Peekaboo' with Dot in their hometown during the third SoFi Stadium stop on May 24. 'Peekaboo,' which samples Willie Hale's 1972 track 'Give Me a Helping Hand,' reached No. 13 on the Hot 100. 'Just shared the stage with my muthaf—king dawg, brotha, & the god damn goat tonight @kendricklamar. Hard work do pay off,' he wrote on X later that night, while sharing photos of him and Lamar on stage as well as of him and SZA backstage. Doja Cat camouflaged herself while appearing in the middle of SZA's outdoorsy set design to perform 'Kiss Me More' at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium on May 31. 'Kiss Me More' reached No. 3 on the Hot 100 and won both artists their first Grammy in 2022 for best pop duo/group performance. 'First time performing together in soooo long,' SZA wrote on her Instagram Story with the heart organ emoji. 'THANK YOU @dojacat.' Kendrick Lamar Called 'Hypocrite' For Performing With 'Deadbeat' Playboi Carti After Dissing Drake
Kendrick Lamar may have emerged as the perceived victor in his explosive lyrical battle against Drake, but not all fans are applauding his recent moves. Following his performances of searing diss tracks like 'Euphoria' and the chart-topping 'Not Like Us,' many praised Lamar for his sharp critiques of Drake's alleged image manipulation, questionable authenticity, and even his parenting. However, just days after the dust seemed to settle, Kendrick is facing backlash for what some are calling hypocrisy. The controversy stems from Lamar's Grand National Tour stop in Atlanta on Tuesday night (April 29), where he brought out Playboi Carti as a surprise guest. The two performed their joint track 'Good Credit,' featured on Carti's Music album. While the crowd in attendance may have welcomed the high-energy moment, critics on social media were quick to call out what they see as a glaring contradiction. 'I like Kendrick's music, but his personality screams hypocrisy,' one user posted after clips of Carti's appearance surfaced online. 'Call Drake a deadbeat and all sorts of, then go on to hang out and work with Carti, an actual deadbeat, and a domestic abuser with multiple cases.' Playboi Carti has previously faced public accusations of being absent from his child's life and has had run-ins with the law, including domestic abuse allegations—claims that make his partnership with Lamar a controversial choice given the themes Kendrick leaned on heavily in his disses toward Drake. Other fans took issue with what they saw as geographic pandering. Throughout his battle with Drake, Kendrick called out the Toronto rapper for using Atlanta as a cultural crutch—especially on 'Not Like Us,' where he took aim at Drake's perceived exploitation of regional scenes for personal gain. With Kendrick now performing in Atlanta alongside one of the city's most prominent artists, critics see a similar play. 'I gotta be honest bruh. That last verse on NLU really don't hit the same when Kendrick is doing the exact same sh*t before our eyes lol,' another fan wrote, echoing growing skepticism over Kendrick's own affiliations. While Kendrick Lamar may still hold the crown in his lyrical duel with Drake—at least in the court of public opinion—fans are making it clear that consistency matters just as much as bars. Kendrick Lamar Charts Multiple New Top 10 Hits At The Same Time
Kendrick Lamar scores multiple top 10 hits this week with Playboi Carti and Jhené Aiko, while ... More 'Luther' continues to dominate the Hot 100 and beyond. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - FEBRUARY 08: Kendrick Lamar performs onstage during the Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team 2024 Livery Reveal on February 08, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo byfor Cash App) Kendrick Lamar has spent the past year proving, once again, that he's not just one of the most respected names in hip-hop, he's also one of the most commercially successful. His 2024 single "Not Like Us" was an instant, massive hit, and has since become what may be his biggest chart success to date. That track alone has kept Lamar present inside the top 10 on quite a few Billboard charts this spring, and he's only added fuel to the fire since it dropped. In late 2024, Lamar dropped his latest full-length, GNX, and it was immediately clear that the project was going to be another high point in his already stellar career. Singles from the collection have continued to perform well months later. Now, as GNX continues to perform well, and 'Not Like Us' refuses to fall, Lamar is adding more wins to his already incredible run — this time, thanks to his work with another hip-hop heavyweight. This week, Lamar scores a pair of new top 10 hits on several Billboard charts, and he has Playboi Carti to thank for the boost. Carti, currently one of the hottest names in rap, rules the Billboard 200 with his new album Music. The set earns one of the largest debuts in recent memory, and the 30 songs included flood the rankings. Lamar, who is featured on two songs from the album, is now part of that chart takeover. As Carti conquers the Billboard 200, Lamar picks up multiple new top 10s across a slew of other lists. The biggest of Lamar and Carti's joint hits right now is 'Good Credit.' The tune debuts on eight Billboard charts, entering the top 10 on five of them. It performs best on a pair of genre-specific streaming rankings – the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and Rap Streaming Songs charts – where it opens at No. 5. 'Good Credit' also reaches the top 10 on the Streaming Songs list, which ranks the most-played tracks in the U.S. regardless of genre. It appears at No. 7 on that tally. It starts in the same position on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, where sales, streams, and airplay are factored into where a title lands. The duo also sees another collaborative track open on the charts this week, and this time, there's a third big name involved. Jhené Aiko joins them on the cut 'Backdoor,' which also debuts across several Billboard lists. 'Backdoor' launches inside the top 10 on three different charts this frame. It starts at No. 8 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and Rap Streaming Songs rankings. On the Hot Rap Songs list, the track narrowly makes it into the highest tier, starting at No. 10. Scoring a handful of top 10 hits in one week is impressive, but for Lamar, it's almost a commonplace occurrence at this point. With his new entries, the rapper has now charted 34 top 10s on the Streaming Songs tally. That is, impressively, the lowest number among the charts he debuts on this period, as he has now reached 40 top 10s on several of the genre-specific rankings thanks to his latest appearances. While Lamar is celebrating the arrival of multiple new hits, one of his older smashes is still holding strong. 'Luther,' his collaboration with longtime friend SZA, continues to dominate the Hot 100. That track remains in charge this week, and it's charting on more than a dozen lists at the same time.

Playboi Carti, rap's Nosferatu, sails into town with ‘Music' at Rolling Loud
Sunday night at Rolling Loud at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood looked like the biggest night of Playboi Carti's life. But for about 15 minutes in the middle of the set, his show nearly boiled over. On Friday, Carti — the gothic Atlanta emcee whose mix of extreme-metal sonics and disorienting trap music made him a Gen Z megastar—released 'Music,' his long-awaited third album. Carti rug-pulling the album last minute was a longstanding meme, so when the 30-track LP actually hit the streamers, fans were delirious. Rap's Nosferatu had finally sailed into town. With tens of thousands of fans packed into the main stage on Sunday night, matching Carti's cryptic but unhinged energy, the mood was intense. Mosh pits were inevitable, but Carti's are a breed apart. To Rolling Loud's credit, once things got heated, the promoters left no chance of disaster. A dozen songs in, the house lights went up, Carti left the stage and the screens told fans to back up, now in an effort to stop the crowd from pushing forward and crushing each other. 'We'll pay any curfew fines so Carti can do his whole set,' the organizers said over the loudspeakers as they pulled people out of the crowd. 'Everyone calm down and take three steps back.' Twenty minutes later, the show was back on, with the Weeknd crooning 'Rather Lie' and 'Timeless' surrounded by Carti's Opium crew while pyro and chugging guitars flared around them. Carti fans come for the chaos — is the rest of the music industry ready for him on the A-list? Since his 2017 mixtape debut, Carti has captivated rap fans for the feral intensity of his sound and his Suicide-riffing album art, facial piercings and occult mystique. He's not a technically-astute rapper in the way Kendrick Lamar is, but he's a visionary of smeared ad libs, freaky voices and inside-out timing. Kendrick loves him; Lamar guests on 'Music,' and calls Carti 'my evil twin' on 'Good Credit.' Much of the pre-show chatter was speculating if Lamar would pop out during Carti's set. He did not, alas, though it's fair to raise an eyebrow at Lamar vigorously co-signing a guy recently arrested for choking his pregnant girlfriend just weeks after winning Grammys for calling Drake a deadbeat pedophile. But Lamar is no one's moral savior, and if you think Carti's atypical in extreme music circles, well, we've got a burned church in Norway to sell you. What Carti brought to Rolling Loud was a volatile proposition — some of the most truly transgressive music to ever top streaming and Billboard charts, aesthetically uncompromising and veiled with real menace. Carti is to the TikTok era what Black Sabbath was in the '70s: bracing, wicked, new. This was Carti's first show since the release of 'Music,' and he got to most of it on Sunday. Long-teased tracks like 'K Pop' and 'Mojo Jojo' found their context in the red-lining churn and digital degrade of Carti's catalog. Cackling descents into trap hell like 'Cocaine Nose' and 'Evil J0rdan' flipped into plaintive, melodic singles like 'BackD00r,' which proved Carti can dip his keys into a songwriterly streak as well (there's a reason the Weeknd has him as an opener on his stadium tour right now). When Carti has more traditional rappers like Lamar or Skepta as a guest, or especially the Weeknd's keening romance on a hook, there's a hint of how generationally good this music could be if he put a little more ballast into his rapping and writing. The same goes for his live performances. Carti's famous for his misdirection onstage, only appearing in flashes on screens and hiding in a roiling sea of fog and flames. But there's a line between entrancing vagueness and just not being that present — there were long stretches where Carti seemed to leave the stage entirely while pre-recorded lead vocals still played. That was probably fine for this show to the faithful, and no one working today can match the mercurial strangeness of Carti's complete vision. But Carti clearly wants to be regarded as a defining, boundary-pushing artist of our time. He absolutely is, and he's smashing streaming records while doing it. His Rolling Loud set reaffirmed that one-of-one status — even if he can't coast on his plague ship forever.

Kanye West slams Kendrick Lamar's features on Playboi Carti's album MUSIC
Kanye West has publicly criticized Kendrick Lamar's involvement in Playboi Carti's highly anticipated new album, MUSIC, despite producing one of the tracks himself. On March 14, Ye took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his disapproval, writing in all caps, 'I DON'T LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC. HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM.' I DONT LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM — ye (@kanyewest) March 14, 2025 Lamar appears on three tracks—'Good Credit,' 'Mojo Jojo,' and 'Backdoor,' which was produced by West. His contributions add to a star-studded guest lineup featuring Future, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, and Lil Uzi Vert. The comments come just a month after Ye acknowledged Lamar's lyrical dominance, saying in an interview with Justin LaBoy on The Download that 'if you rap against Kendrick, you will lose.' Despite that praise, West now seems displeased with Lamar's presence on MUSIC. Carti's album rollout was not without hiccups. Originally slated for a midnight release, the project was delayed until nearly 4 a.m. ET. The album marks Carti's return after five years, following 2020's Whole Lotta Red, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. With MUSIC now out, Playboi Carti is set to perform at Rolling Loud California this weekend before joining The Weeknd on a stadium tour. Neither Carti nor Lamar's teams have responded to Ye's remarks.
