Kanye West slams Kendrick Lamar's features on Playboi Carti's album MUSIC
On March 14, Ye took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his disapproval, writing in all caps, 'I DON'T LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC. HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM.'

Lamar appears on three tracks—'Good Credit,' 'Mojo Jojo,' and 'Backdoor,' which was produced by West. His contributions add to a star-studded guest lineup featuring Future, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, and Lil Uzi Vert.
The comments come just a month after Ye acknowledged Lamar's lyrical dominance, saying in an interview with Justin LaBoy on The Download that 'if you rap against Kendrick, you will lose.' Despite that praise, West now seems displeased with Lamar's presence on MUSIC.
Carti's album rollout was not without hiccups. Originally slated for a midnight release, the project was delayed until nearly 4 a.m. ET. The album marks Carti's return after five years, following 2020's Whole Lotta Red, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
With MUSIC now out, Playboi Carti is set to perform at Rolling Loud California this weekend before joining The Weeknd on a stadium tour. Neither Carti nor Lamar's teams have responded to Ye's remarks.

Lil Yachty slammed over George Floyd lyric previewed during livestream performance
Rapper Lil Yachty is facing widespread criticism after previewing a song on streamer PlaqueBoyMax's channel that included a controversial lyric referencing George Floyd, whose 2020 death in Minneapolis police custody sparked global protests. During the August 14 livestream, the Atlanta-born artist — real name Miles McCollum — rapped, 'Put my knee up on her neck, I went George Floyd,' while others in the room nodded along. The line, which appeared to make a sexual joke using the circumstances of Floyd's killing, quickly drew sharp condemnation across social media. 'This is so ass dawg. You can do better than this,' one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Another asked, 'Mocking one of the most horrific deaths in American history… Why green-light an ignorant bar like this?' Several commenters compared the lyric to past rap controversies, including Lil Wayne's 2013 Emmett Till reference and his 2009 Rodney King lyric, while others called Yachty 'one of the worst rappers' to reach mainstream success. Stephen Jackson calls out Lil Yachty over George Floyd lyrics: "Put my knee up on her neck, I went George Floyd" -Lil Yachty — SAY CHEESE! 👄🧀 (@SaycheeseDGTL) August 15, 2025 Stephen Jackson, a former NBA player and close friend of Floyd, was tagged in multiple posts criticizing the lyric. One commenter wrote, 'We do not support bunk gibberish like this in the community. All blessings to King George Floyd, his family, and everyone against this disrespectful nonsense.' Floyd, 46, died after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for over nine minutes during an arrest. The incident, captured on video, prompted nationwide and global protests against police brutality and racial injustice. As of Thursday, Lil Yachty had not publicly addressed the backlash, adding to the ongoing debate about accountability and boundaries in music lyrics.

Cardi B drops '90s-inspired 'Imaginary Playerz' with JAY-Z sample clearance ahead of new album release
Cardi B has released her latest single, 'Imaginary Playerz,' on August 15, 2025, as the second track from her upcoming sophomore album Am I the Drama?, due September 19. The song channels '90s Hip-Hop, sampling JAY-Z's 1997 classic 'Imaginary Players,' with the rap icon personally approving the clearance. Speaking in an X Spaces conversation earlier this week, Cardi explained that Jay-Z himself signed off on the sample. 'If he didn't approve it, I probably wouldn't even feel a certain type of way neither,' she said. 'But I'm glad that I came hard and he loved it.' She later revealed the approval text from her manager arrived at exactly 4:44 p.m., a nod to both his 4:44 album and her personal angel number. Determined to honor the iconic beat, Cardi delivered sharp-edged verses, declaring her dominance with lines like: 'Cardi B, every song platinum, I'm not the other b####… Whatever you was gon' pay hеr, you gotta double it.' The accompanying music video doubles down on the luxury vibe, featuring scenes aboard a private jet and yacht—imagery that helped fuel fan excitement. Within hours of release, 'Imaginary Playerz' trended at No. 1 on X (formerly Twitter), with praise for bringing back a raw, classic rap energy reminiscent of Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown. One fan wrote, 'This type of hip hop is missing in today's music… Cardi bringing some of that real rap energy back,' while another declared, 'OH CARDI B CHEWED THIS UP — SHE'S SO BACK OMFG.' bWith Am I the Drama? set for release on September 19, 'Imaginary Playerz' is positioning Cardi B's return as both a nod to Hip-Hop history and a bold statement of her place in its present.
