This can't be real! We just gave this new TCL Mini-LED TV 4 stars in our review and it's $900 off right now

If you're in the market for a new display, I think I've found the perfect model slashed to all-new lows, one we just reviewed — and gave a four-stars. Right now, you can get the 65-inch TCL QM8K Mini-LED TV for $1,597 at Amazon. That's $900 slashed on this 2025 set we gave a recommended score to, but you better act fast. Amazon only has 9 left, so you don't have long before they're all gone. (For more sales, check out our guide to this week's best TV deals). The TCL QM8K is the flagship Mini-LED TV in its 2025 lineup, offering incredible brightness and superb color performance. Like most of TCL's models, it's also built on Google TV, netting you access to all the best streaming apps, and comes equipped with a range of gaming features that make it stand out. VRR is the big ticket item, but the QM8K can also play games up to 288Hz when playing in 1080p. Price check: Best Buy @ $1,599 We were stunned with the results for the TCL QM8K, especially against the competition. It's one of TCL's most advanced Mini-LED TVs to date, exemplified by its incredible color performance, motion processing, and higher brightness specs. In our review of the TCL QM8K, we gave it a recommended score at four stars, highlighting these advancements in tandem with its exceptional gaming prowess. One thing that allows the QM8K to stand out is its leveraging of Google TV. That means it comes equipped with some of the best streaming services and, most importantly, tons of free content. Google's always adding new shows and channels to its lineup, and TCL itself just added a more free content with a partnership with AMC. What excited me most about the QM8K was its gaming features. While it might skimp out on the coveted 165Hz refresh rate that other rivals are taking up in an effort to wrangle more gamers, including LG and Hisense, it does have a neat feature that allows it to hit 288Hz in 1080p. It does this via VRR, and it's a sick feature if you're a PC gamer, but don't expect to hit those highs on a Nintendo Switch 2. Even with our enthusiasm, the TCL QM8K isn't without some mishaps. It's biggest blunder is its rather middling audio, which is to be expected with most TVs these days and why we always recommend pairing them up with one of the best soundbars. The neat thing is the QM8K does have Dolby Atmos support and offers an ATSC 3.0 tuner, netting you access to Nextgen TV. But if the QM8K isn't quite what you're looking for in a new display and want something a little on the cheaper side, might I recommend this Panasonic Mini-LED TV from 2024. It's also a four-star-recommend from us and is loaded with tons of features at just $500!

Samsung Signs Up Multiple New Global TV Partners For Its Tizen OS Smart System

Samsung has revealed a major expansion of the licensing programme for its Tizen OS TV smart system that will see it being introduced on TVs from a host of new TV brands in multiple territories across the world. The most notable new additions to the manufacturers and brands licensing Samsung's Tizen OS for their TVs include RCA (Kayve Groupo) in Mexico, RCA (Treasure Creek) in the United States and Canada, Axdia in Germany, and EKO and QBELL (Ayonz) in Australia and Europe. Samsung's Tizen OS has greatly expanded its family of licensed TV brands. Given the truly international scope of these latest additions to the Tizen OS licensing 'family', and the fact that the list of new licensees includes prominent original design manufacturers, it's perhaps not surprising that Samsung also reveals in its announcement of its new licensing deals that its smart platform now includes tailored marketing kits and digital content toolkits for each individual region. Samsung also states that it's broadening Tizen OS's regional coverage, as well as introducing more affordable hardware solutions and working to improve app availability in every territory where its OS is now being adopted. These moves will all make it easier for regional partners to highlight what Samsung identifies as key Tizen OS features such as premium content access, fast performance and advanced smart connectivity. All backed by both enhanced access for any license partner to Samsung's specialized R&D support plus, of course, the trusted power of the Samsung global brand. Now into its 8th generation, Tizen OS's latest key enhancements include AI-backed advanced content discovery tools; integration with Samsung's TV Plus service of streamed TV 'channels'; expanded and enhanced cloud gaming support via the dedicated Gaming Hub section of Tizen OS's interface; and ever more seamless multi-device connectivity through Samsung's SmartThings protocol/platform. Given the explosion in the number of different content streaming services consumers now have access to, it's really not surprising that we're starting to see the smart TV interface world increasingly consolidating around a small number of large, well-established smart platforms. It's just impractical for relatively small brands to take on themselves, with their own home-grown smart platforms, all the necessary content deals and software technicalities associated with onboarding all the apps consumers now expect to find on a smart TV. Other major platforms also doing brisk licensing business right now include Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, Hisense's VIDAA system, Tivo, Roku and LG's WebOS. Samsung's latest Tizen OS includes new content finding features and an enhanced Gaming Hub. 'Tizen OS is recognized for its performance, reliability, and innovation,' said Jooyoung Kim, Vice President at Samsung Electronics. 'This year, we are focused on expanding our licensing program and creating diverse collaboration strategies for our key partners. We are serious about growing our global partner network and enhancing the ecosystem. By offering expanded regional support, an enriched app ecosystem, and tailored marketing resources, we aim to deliver even greater value to consumers worldwide.' Grupo Kayve's Head of Marketing & Communications, Jonathan Vera, adds: 'We are proud to expand our RCA TV portfolio across Mexico and Latin America through our partnership with Samsung's Tizen OS. The Tizen team provides comprehensive technical and marketing support, enabling an agile go-to-market process.' Samsung states that it expects 'many more' global brands to sign up to Tizen OS in the second half of 2025. — Related reading Roku Launches New Upgraded TV Range LG OLED And LCD TVs Are About To Get Easier To Use Freely Streaming Service Signs Up Two More Major TV Brands

Centre's losses from grey market TV sellers may swell to $2 billion: SPPL CEO

NEW DELHI: The Central government's losses from unregulated grey market television (TV) sellers may reach $2 billion (~₹17,200 crore) in the near future, according to Super Plastronics ( SPPL ). The Noida-based firm is the brand licensee of Thomson , Kodak , and Blaupunkt in India. 'Organised brands such as SPPL, brands, and OEMs have a huge challenge to deal with. The government may have to bear up to $2 billion of tax loss in the near future. The government is undertaking measures, but unorganised trade is causing significant problems,' Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO, SPPL, told ETTelecom . These grey market sellers, he said, primarily operate in the entry-level TV segment, where the top five market players have started coming under pressure. 'The government is also losing out on customs duties. The practices of unorganised traders are perfect for initiating regulatory actions by agencies such as the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED),' he added. Industry executives said such traders regularly import electronic components from countries such as China, assemble them in factories in locations such as Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, and sell unbranded televisions in rural markets, where consumer awareness about brand authenticity and related aspects remain low. Marwah said SPPL has a 6% share in the TV market, which has a volume of around 14 million units, and expects this to grow to 7% in 2026, supported by premium, large-screen models backed by display and audio innovations. Recently, Thomson launched new mini-LED TVs with a 108W speaker system comprising two integrated subwoofers, QD 4K displays, powered by Google TV, in the price range of ₹61,999 to ₹95,999. The top executive said the TV market remained stagnant in the first half of 2025, but the upcoming festival season, combined with the replacement cycle, may drive recovery in the July-December 2025 period. 'One of the key reasons (for market stagnation) is due to the purchases that happened during the COVID pandemic. I think there was a saturation in the market, and there was no disruption in technology. Now, the time has come. The replacement in the market will start from H2 2025,' he said. Counterpoint Research has projected that the Indian TV market may grow by a modest 4% in 2025, with a recovery anticipated in the second half following a sluggish start to the year. 'Due to the ongoing economic uncertainty and inventory issues across top brands, the market is likely to remain slow with a premiumisation trend as buyers begin to value performance and quality alongside affordability. The demand for premium and large-screen TVs will continue to rise, while shipments of smaller 32-inch TVs are expected to decline further,' Anshika Jain, senior research analyst, Counterpoint, told ETTelecom . The research agency said that artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled smart TVs remain in the early stages of adoption, with major players gradually offering advanced features such as adaptive picture and sound, as well as multilingual voice assistants.

Vizio TVs are set to be sold exclusively out of Walmart — but they'll have a new name

Vizio TVs are in line to become a private-label brand on Walmart store shelves by year's end, which means they'll exclusively be sold out of the retailer's two mega storefronts, including Walmart and Sam's Club. Bloomberg broke the news late last week after reviewing an internal company memo. Walmart will fold Vizio into its assortment of 90 other store brands, though it's unclear if it will be renamed onn, Walmart's already existing TV brand. Vizio's move into the private-label sector is in accordance with Walmart's $2.3B acquisition of the TV maker, officially sealed in December of last year. It's no secret that some of the best Vizio TVs are also some of the best budget TVs on the market, and they're bound to get even cheaper as a Walmart private-label brand. Bloomberg's reporting provides no indication of pricing or the expected rollout date, except for a late 2025 timeframe. Various models, like the Vizio Quantum Pro and Vizio V-Series sets, are available to purchase at alternative retailers outside of Walmart, including Target and Amazon. But it's not just the physical TVs themselves that Walmart is after. Where other TV makers, like Hisense, TCL, and Sony, rely on Google TV or Roku OS, Vizio is a unicorn. It makes and runs its own TV interface, called Smartcast, which Walmart bet $2.3B on in its push into the TV shopping experience. So, while Walmart moves Vizio into a private-label brand, Vizio's Smartcast, which is already being integrated onto existing Walmart onn displays, will be the beating heart of the buyout's success. Increased advertising and shoppable TV experiences, wherein consumers purchase goods straight from their displays, will be the real breadwinners for Walmart. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. More ads and in-your-face shopping experiences might not be the most exciting turn of events, but at least this will inevitably lead to the advent of cheaper TVs from Walmart. Onn TVs, while some of the worst displays on the market, can cost as much as $90 to $300. With Vizio's performance gains, they'll be worth considering.
