"Operation Sindoor is India's prestige, don't mock it": BJP leader Gourav Vallabh slams Punjab CM Mann

New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gourav Vallabh on Tuesday strongly criticised Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his recent remarks on Operation Sindoor, accusing him of mocking an issue of national importance. While speaking with ANI, Vallabh said, 'What kind of things is the CM of a state saying? This is not a comedy show. You are the CM of a state. You are speaking like social media trolls... Operation Sindoor is the prestige of India, don't mock it. You are the CM of a state, and the people of your state and the entire country expect some seriousness from you...' Earlier on Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stirred a controversy after he said that the BJP has turned 'Operation Sindoor' into a joke, asking whether this is a 'One nation, one husband' scheme. 'Did you not see the kind of fun made of Sindoor? What is this - one nation, one husband scheme?' CM Mann said. The statement drew swift and sharp criticism from the BJP, with Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu taking the lead in condemning the remarks. In a self-made video, Bittu said that the country will not forgive Bhagwant Mann for the words he has used. 'The statements show how cheap and vile things the Aam Aadmi Party and their Chief Minister can say. The NDA government at the Centre has defeated Pakistan, and you are not able to tolerate it. Will you say anything to show that you stand with Pakistan? The country will not forgive you for the words you used against PM Modi today,' he said. BJP leader Fatehjung Singh Bajwa also slammed the Punjab CM, calling his remarks 'shameful.' 'This is very shameful. Comedians look good on stage, but Bhagwant Mann does not understand the value of the CM's chair. What kind of joke is this? ... I think it is shameful for the CM to joke about such a thing,' Bajwa said. On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. After India's strike on terror infrastructure, Pakistan responded with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and the International Border, as well as attempted drone attacks targeting civilian areas along the border regions. In response, India neutralised Pakistani air defence apparatus, radar infrastructure, and communication centres, and inflicted heavy damage across 11 airbases in Pakistan. After this, on May 10, an understanding on the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced. (ANI)

Congress has tradition of crushing talent, Shashi Tharoor is facing this problem: BJP's Gourav Vallabh

As Congress continues to fume over the Central government giving a key role to Shashi Tharoor in diplomatic outreach delegations after Operation Sindoor other than the four given by the party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gourav Vallabh said the grand-old party has tradition of crushing merit and backing 'bootlickers' and the Congress leader is facing the same problem. Gourav Vallabh said, 'Congress has a tradition to crushing merit and talent and backing their bootlickers. Even Shashi Tharoor is facing this problem because they did not give his name.' 'Congress did it because he contested the election against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. I don't understand how they can fall so low that they are sabotaging their own party leaders,' he said. Congress has said that it was asked by the government to submit names of four MPs for the all-party delegations to be sent abroad to explain India's stance on terrorism from Pakistan and it nominated Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. It accused the Centre of not consulting the Congress before naming Shashi Tharoor to lead a government delegation. The party said it was 'dishonest' and 'downright mischievous' to first ask for nominations and then not include them. Meanwhile, the row does not seem to die down easily as Shashi Tharoor, too, has accepted the government invite to lead the delegation. He cites 'national interest' a 'matter of duty' as a citizen of India. Without acknowledging the Congress disapproval on the inclusion of his name but in a clear response to the party concerns, Shashi Tharoor asserted that only 'national interest is above everything else'. Shashi Tharoor said, 'As I have mentioned, it is a very great honour. As a citizen being called upon to serve the nation at the time of crisis, is a matter of duty for all of us. At the same time, it is an honour that I have been asked to lead a delegation and I look forward very much to playing my part.' 'I have always said that when my services are required for the nation, I should not be found wanting and I had no hesitation in accepting the kind invitation of the government, which to my mind is nothing to do with politics and everything to do with our country's national interest. National interest, in my mind, are always above everything else.'

BJP, Cong welcome govt move

New Delhi: The NDA government's planned diplomatic initiative of sending multi-party MP delegations to major world capitals to expose Pakistan's role in the recent Pahalgam terror attack and to rally global support against cross-border terrorism has won support from both the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress. Leaders from both parties praised the move, describing it as a constructive step toward strengthening India's global position and countering Pakistan's narrative. BJP leader Gourav Vallabh said the initiative reflects national unity in the face of terrorism. "This is a very good initiative by the Prime Minister, involving all political parties. A delegation comprising MPs from across party lines will visit various countries to highlight how Pakistan-sponsored terrorists targeted people in Pahalgam based on their religion. When India's political voices speak together on an international platform, it will help form a unified global front against terrorism. It will strengthen India's position globally and enhance our leadership in diplomacy, business, and international affairs," he said. Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal also welcomed the government's plan but urged greater transparency. "We support the international efforts taken by the government. However, the government should also inform citizens about which countries the Prime Minister has visited over the last 11 years and whom he has met. Additionally, it should be clarified how many nations have publicly supported India's position," he said. According to sources, the planned delegations will serve a dual purpose — briefing foreign governments on the facts surrounding the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 civilians were killed, and providing clarity on 'Operation Sindoor'. The operation, officials maintain, targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied territories and did not harm civilians. The move is seen as a direct response to growing efforts by Pakistan to internationalise the Kashmir issue. It also comes in the wake of past remarks by US President Donald Trump, who had suggested mediation on Kashmir - a proposition India firmly rejected, maintaining it is a bilateral issue.
