Shortage of teachers hits edu in schools: Raj Cong chief

Jaipur: Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra said govt schools are witnessing declining enrolments due to insufficient teaching staff. He highlighted that the education department currently has 1.25 lakh unfilled teaching positions, and shortage affects both Hindi and English medium schools across the state. "The education department of Rajasthan is running in a completely passive mode. Due to the failures of the department, the education system of the state is going downhill. The entire academic session passed, but schools did not get teachers. Due to the shortage of teachers, enrolment is decreasing across the state," said Dotasra in a post on social media platform X. He added that 32,139 posts of senior teachers are vacant in the state, along with 8,174 posts of principal, 5,867 posts of vice-principal, 20,431 posts of lecturers are vacant, and about 17,500 posts of Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools are also vacant. "The achievements of the department's minister have been only baseless statements, insulting teachers, blaming the previous govt, sports kit scam, closing schools, depriving the poor of English education, reducing enrolment, taking U-turns on decisions, not providing uniforms to children, and ruining the education system of Rajasthan," added the state Congress president. Reacting to the statements, the education minister Madan Dilawar, while speaking to TOI, said that teachers were recruited for 30,000 posts and work is underway to fill posts of 50,000-60,000 more teachers this year. "The Congress president is right in saying that 1.25 lakh posts are vacant in the education department, and we are working to rectify the mistakes made by the previous govt. The posts are vacant due to the decisions taken by the previous Congress govt, and recruitments are being done regularly to fill all the posts," said Dilawar.

BJP & RSS bending rules to win civic polls by any means: Gehlot

Jaipur: Former CM Wednesday criticised state govt for making changes to the structures of and urban bodies that he called "arbitrary" and a "flouting of all rules and regulations" in the delimitation process. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Gehlot alleged that and are employing various objectionable and arbitrary tactics to secure victories in the panchayati raj and urban body elections. The reorganisation of wards in local bodies was done to ensure political gains, he alleged. "The BJP govt in Rajasthan is arbitrarily reorganising the panchayati raj and urban bodies. This is the first time I saw all rules and laws being violated. District collectors refused to take further action on public objections and are saying they cannot do anything as everything is being done at the state govt level," said Gehlot in a post on X. He said BJP and RSS are trying to win the panchayati raj and urban body elections by any means. "They (BJP govt) did not conduct bypolls in several places, including for the Bharatpur district parishad chairman. Then, under the pretext of One State-One Election, they did not hold elections even after the term ended, and now they are ignoring rules and public convenience to secure their vote bank," added Gehlot. The ex-CM pointed out that neither the minimum and maximum population criteria are being considered, nor is the appropriate distance from the headquarters being maintained. "In some cases, villages 10 km away from the city are being included in urban bodies, while in others, villages are being linked to panchayats in such a way that the panchayat headquarters is 5 to 10 km away," he said. "I want to tell state govt that such activities are not appropriate. There is growing resentment among the public about this. District collectors should also ensure the entire reorganisation process is conducted consistently according to the rules, without yielding to political pressure," added Gehlot. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra also accused RSS and BJP of running a parallel delimitation process by exerting "pressure on officials to redraw panchayat limits for political gains". He alleged that Rajya Sabha member Ghanshyam Tiwari, former state BJP president Arun Chaturvedi and ex-minister Rajendra Rathore are leading this effort "by influencing district magistrates and other officials".

Congress to launch ‘Save Constitution' campaign in Jaipur on April 28

The Congress is set to launch an extensive campaign against the Central government, beginning with a massive state-level rally in Jaipur on April 28 as part of its 'Save Constitution' campaign. Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra said that the campaign will span from the state level down to the booth level in the coming weeks. He said that the rally in Jaipur will be attended by several senior party leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also scheduled to address a special gathering of around 2,200 divisional presidents. Dotasra said that a preparatory meeting has been scheduled at the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters on April 24 to streamline the event's arrangements. He said that the 'Save Constitution' campaign aims to highlight how the Central government is 'undermining' democracy and constitutional values, adding that the campaign will unfold in multiple phases, under which state-level rallies will be organised on April 28. 'District-level rallies will be taken out across all districts from May 3 to 10, from May 11 to 17, Assembly-level programmes will be held, from May 20–30, Booth-level door-to-door campaign will be held,' he said. Dotasra said that during the door-to-door campaign, Congress workers will engage directly with citizens to explain how the Central government is 'weakening' democratic institutions and misusing investigative agencies like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax to 'silence' the opposition. Accusing the Central government of adopting an 'authoritarian' approach, Dotasra said: 'The central government is bent on Hitlerism. It is even targeting the Supreme Court. Wherever elections take place, opposition leaders are intimidated by central agencies. There is a deliberate effort to cripple the opposition by cutting off their resources.' He emphasised that the 'Save Constitution' campaign is not just political, but a movement to protect the country's democratic fabric.
