75 Chief Minister Shri schools to open soon, Delhi government begins hiring teachers
The Delhi government has started a recruitment drive to appoint teachers for 75 new CM Shri schools, which are expected to begin operations within a year. This step is part of the city's efforts to improve public education and set up upgraded school models across the to an official circular from the Directorate of Education, the recruitment will be done through a transfer process. Current teachers working in Delhi government schools can apply for transfers to the CM Shri schools through a special interface available positions include Postgraduate Teachers (PGTs), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), Primary Teachers (PRTs), and other teaching roles. Teachers interested in applying must send their applications via e-mail by June 9, 11.59 pm. Applicants must also have at least five years left before retirement, the circular interface sessions for candidates will be held on June 11 for PRT and TGT posts, and on June 12 for PGT and miscellaneous teaching positions. Each session will begin at 10 official confirmed that 12 of these 75 CM Shri schools will be built from the ground up, while the remaining 63 will operate from existing government school buildings. SC Orders Major Overhaul Of NEET-PG Counselling To Curb Seat Blocking, Ensure Transparent Medical Admissions
Last Updated: In a major move to curb malpractice in PG medical admissions, the Supreme Court has issued sweeping directives to reform the NEET-PG counselling process. The Supreme Court has issued a series of directives aimed at reforming the NEET-PG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – Post Graduate) counselling process to address widespread seat-blocking practices in postgraduate medical admissions. The bench, comprising Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan, was hearing a case concerning large-scale manipulation of seats during the NEET-PG counselling process. The Court issued the following key directives: Unified Counselling Calendar: Introduce a nationally coordinated counselling schedule to synchronise All India Quota (AIQ) and State counselling rounds, thereby preventing seat blocking across systems. Mandatory Pre-Counselling Fee Disclosure: All private and deemed universities must disclose complete fee details—including tuition, hostel, caution deposit, and other charges—before counselling begins. Central Fee Regulation System: Establish a uniform fee regulation framework under the National Medical Commission (NMC) to standardise charges across institutions. Post-Round 2 Upgrade Provision: Allow candidates already admitted in Round 2 to upgrade to better seats in subsequent rounds, without reopening counselling to new applicants. Aadhaar-Based Seat Tracking: Implement Aadhaar-linked tracking to prevent candidates from holding multiple seats or submitting false information. Accountability of Authorities: Make state counselling bodies and Directors of Medical Education (DMEs) liable for disciplinary or contempt proceedings in case of schedule breaches or rule violations. Uniform Counselling Code: Introduce a standardised code of conduct for counselling across all states, with consistent rules on eligibility, mop-up rounds, seat withdrawal, and grievance redressal timelines. Independent Oversight by NMC: Set up a third-party oversight mechanism under the NMC to conduct annual audits on counselling processes, data compliance, and fairness in admissions. The judgment follows a petition filed by the State of Uttar Pradesh and the Director General of Medical Education & Training, challenging a 2018 Allahabad High Court order that had penalised officials for irregularities in that year's counselling process. The High Court had found that candidates with lower merit were allowed to participate in the mop-up counselling rounds despite having already been allotted seats, thereby disadvantaging higher-ranked aspirants. Consequently, the High Court awarded Rs 10 lakh in compensation to each petitioner and directed structural reforms. However, the Supreme Court stayed this order in 2018 and has now reduced the compensation to Rs 1 lakh per petitioner, citing subsequent policy improvements. The Court noted reforms introduced post-2021, particularly in the Nihila P.P. v. Medical Counselling Committee case, where a four-round counselling scheme was implemented for All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Nonetheless, the bench emphasised that these measures must now be effectively enforced through centralised regulation and transparent procedures. What Is Seat Blocking? Seat blocking occurs when candidates temporarily accept medical counselling seats but later relinquish them after obtaining preferable options in subsequent rounds. This tactic creates a false shortage of available seats, deceives other aspirants, and undermines the merit-based selection process. The benefits of a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme
Students aspiring to do postgraduate courses in management often have a tough time choosing between a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The main difference between the two lies in the autonomy provided to different programmes by the governing authorities. Since higher education was linked to the learners' professional development, authorities allowed private institutions to offer professional higher education in technical, management, and other domains of industry need. But the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act of 1956 stipulated minimum infrastructure standards for a university to award a postgraduate degree. Most private organisations that wished to offer higher education courses were not equipped with such resources, so the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) found an alternative by accrediting standalone management institutions to offer a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), which is considered equivalent to an MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The PGDM programme also differs from an MBA in terms of curriculum development, flexibility offered, industry relevance, career development opportunities, and recognition. Let's take a look at some of these. Curriculum: The PGDM programme has more autonomy in designing the curriculum compared to an MBA programme and is updated every year. Thus students are trained for current and latest industry requirements. I Structure: One example of the PGDM's structural flexibility is delivering the curriculum as a trimester or semester schedule, which provides a wide range of 40-45 courses spread over six different terms of 8–10 weeks each. In contrast, an MBA programme offers 30–35 courses across four semesters. Another aspect is the assessment design. In a PGDM programme, continuous and end-term evaluation can be rationalised according to requirement. For example, practical courses such as Financial Modelling and Marketing Analytics may go through lab-based assessment, and courses like Organisation Behaviour may be assessed through case study evaluation. Teaching-Learning: The coursework of a PGDM programme is delivered through a mix of academic and corporate trainers. Academic trainers lay the conceptual groundwork, while corporate trainers build a practical knowledge structure on it. Another aspect is the addition of corporate certifications to the curriculum. Industry training is integrated through internships, live projects, guest lectures, industry visits, and consulting assignments, thus ensuring hands-on exposure and real-world learning. These are largely credit-based activitie embedded in the curriculum delivery over the tenure of the programme. Hence, it provides aspirants with sequential learning of content building to practical understanding to gap identification to relearning. Global integration: In many institutions,the PGDM programmes train students to develop global competencies. There are also programmes that offers a dual certification in collaboration with foreign universities. These global immersion programmes equip students to compete in business environments across the world. Best known for her dazzling burlesque performance in the 1967 classic film 'The Graduate', Lainie's career was multifaceted, spanning from show-stopping performances to a significant presence behind the scenes in Hollywood. She went on to perform burlesque as a Las Vegas showgirl and as a headliner with Minsky's Revue, then used her experience to play a stripper in a memorable scene that humiliates Katharine Ross' Elaine Robinson in Mike Nichols' The Graduate (1967). To provide stability for her daughter, Barbara Ann, Miller left acting in 1966 to start a career in nursing, putting her paycheck from the Paramount film toward her studies. 'I wanted to start exercising my brains — for a change,' she said. 'My tassels were getting tired.' Her subsequent return to the silver screen in the 1980s saw her as an IATSE 871 script supervisor, contributing to the production of series like 'Freddy's Nightmares' (1988-90) and the film 'Down Periscope' (1996). In addition to script supervising, she served over a decade as a business agent and producer. Her husband, the noted character actor Dick Miller — he appeared in lots of Roger Corman and Joe Dante films, among them A Bucket of Blood and Gremlins — died in January 2019 at age 90. They were together for nearly 60 years.
