'To everyone associated with West Brom, thank you!'

Grady Diangana has issued an emotional statement as he says goodbye to Albion after six years at the club, reflecting on the 'honour' he had of wearing the shirt. The Baggies have released 14 players following the end of their Championship campaign – a list headlined by the departures of Diangana, Semi Ajayi and John Swift. His post read: 'To everyone associated with West Brom, thank you! I wanted to express my gratitude for the last six years. 'To the coaches, to the players and to the backroom staff, the memories we've created will stay with me for life. 'To the fans, you've supported us through the highs and the lows, I sincerely wish everyone connected with West Bromwich Albion all the best in the future. It has been an honour. God bless.' Advertisement Thankful fans responded to the post as well as Diangana's team-mates, with striker Daryl Dike commenting: 'Ugh yep my heart is broken.' Darnell Furlong posted a love heart and clapping emoji while the club said: 'Thanks for everything, Grady'. Karlan Grant posted five hearts and former left-back Conor Townsend said: 'Was a pleasure Grady. What a guy.' Alex Mowatt added: 'All the best brother.' Winger Diangana, 27, joined Albion initially on a loan deal from West Ham in 2019, and made a sufficient enough impact that the Baggies pursued and completed a permanent deal, handing him a five-year contract. Advertisement In all, he made 48 goal contributions in 206 appearances. West Ham skipper Mark Noble famously tweeted at the time of his departure: 'As captain of this football club I'm gutted, angry and sad that Grady has left, great kid with a great future.''

He told the BBC: "At times like this you have to look at yourself - as a group of players you have to look at yourself and say how many of us have had a good season? I know I certainly haven't." Bakambu returns for DR Congo in FIFA World Cup qualifiers

Experienced striker Cedric Bakambu is set to make his first appearance for the Democratic Republic of Congo since last year's TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations finals after being included in a 25-man squad for two FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month. English-based midfielder Grady Diangana and defender Axel Tuanzebe also return to the squad for the Group B fixtures at home to South Sudan in Kinshasa on March 21 and then away at Mauritania four days later. Bakumbu struggled with form last year but has found more consistency with Real Betis in LaLiga this season and won a recall from coach Sébastien Desabre. Diangana last played in the World Cup equalisers in June last year and is back after seeing out the entire 2025 Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. Tuanzebe was injured last November when the Congolese completed their Cup of Nations preliminaries with defeats to Guinea and Ethiopia. The Congolese still qualified for the finals in Morocco by taking top place in Group H. Irish-born defender Peter Kioso, who plays for Oxford United in England's Championship, is dropped along with Belgian-based midfielder William Balikwisha (OH Leuven, Belgium), Dinamo Zagreb striker Nathanaël Mbuku and veteran Gael Kakuta, who was called up last November but then withdrew. Squad: Goalkeepers: Dimitry Bertaud (Montpellier, France), Timothy Fayulu (Sion, Switzerland), Lionel Mpasi (Rodez, France) Defenders: Dylan Batubinsika (St Etienne, France), Rocky Bushiri (Hibernian, Scotland), Henock Inonga (AS FAR, Morocco), Gédéon Kalulu (Lorient, France), Joris Kayembe (Genk, Belgium), Arthur Masuaku (Besiktas, Turkey), Chancel Mbemba (Olympique de Marseille, France), Axel Tuanzebe (Ipswich Town, England) Midfielders: Theo Bongonda (Spartak Moscow, Russia), Grady Diangana (West Bromwich Albbion, England), Meshack Elia (Nantes, France), Silas Katompa Mvumpa (Red Star Belgrade, Serbia), Edo Kayembe (Watford, England), Samuel Moutoussamy (Sivasspor, Turkey), Ngal'ayel Mukau (Lille, France), Charles Pickel (Cremonense, Italy), Noah Sadiki (Union Saint Gilloise, Belgium) Forwards: Cedric Bakambu (Real Betis, Spain), Simon Banza (Trabzonspor, Turkey), Samuel Essende (Ausgburg, Germany), Fiston Mayele (Pyramids, Egypt), Yoane Wissa (Brentford, England).
