Kilcoy race-by-race preview and tips for Sunday
Queensland form man Graeme Carey has provided his race-by-race preview and tips for Sunday's meeting at Kilcoy. â– â– â– â– â– BEST BET: GOODES (Race 3 No 5) NEXT BEST: IN GREAT SPIRIT (Race 6 No 4) VALUE BET: CONSTANT CAFE (Race 7 No 8) â– â– â– â– â– Quaddie numbers are: Race 6 – 3,4,7 Race 7 – 7,8 Race 8 – 1,3,4 Race 9 – 1,5,7 $54 = 100 per cent of the dividend â– â– â– â– â– Race 1 – 3YO Benchmark 60 Handicap (1200m) He has been weighted accordingly but GIN A TONIC (1) is a Saturday grader taking on provincial company and was too good for a strong Class 2 field at Ipswich last start. He makes his own luck, the 1.5kg claim for Amy Graham helps and he can control the race. OH NOT REALLY (3) hasn't put in a bad run in his short career and overcame a wide gate to get the money when resuming at the Sunshine Coast. He steps up in journey but the better gate and Corey Sutherland's 2kg claim have him right in the frame. JACKA STANDS ALONE (2) has a similar record to Oh Not Really and came from a wide alley to win at Gatton last start. Better drawn here, with Kayla Johnston's 3kg claim he can skip around this tight circuit and give them something to chase. THE LOUVRE (5) was never in it from a wide gate at Gatton, but the ace here can be gold and 2kg claimer Jade Metcalfe won't die wondering. Verdict – GIN A TONIC (1) has the class edge. â– â– â– â– â– Race 2 – Maiden Plate (800m) MHASAHN (5) wasn't disgraced when resuming from a wide gate at Gatton and is drawn far better here. Brandon Lerena replaces the apprentice Kelsy Lenton, and it will be handlebars down from the outset. CHEEK TO CHEEK (9) has had two trials since a chance of stables and his placing on debut at Ipswich over this trip had merit. With Jackson Morris he can overcome the gate. LOOK IT'S LUCY (4) has been trying for a while and had support but found one better at Gatton when resuming. This is her trip, and she will be prominent for a long way. AWESOME TESS (8) is fitter for two outings and led them up from a wide gate at Toowoomba last start. Better drawn here she can give a sight. Verdict – MHASAHN (5) on top in a hard race. â– â– â– â– â– Race 3 – Benchmark 60 Handicap (800m) The one with upside is GOODES (5) which was dominant at Gatton last start in a Class 1. He has had a few homes in his career but now with Emma Fouchard these shortcourse sprints look his go. With Adin Thompson from a good gate, he can get it done. DAWYN'S CHOICE (6) led them up before fading when resuming at Ipswich. An 800m specialist she strip fitter here, drops in grade and from a good gate will get all the favours with Cobi Vitler. KING OF THE JUNGLE (3) has speed and will find this easier than a Toowoomba Class 3. Fitter for that outing 2kg claimer Corey Sutherland can take advantage of the inside draw. MISHANI STORM (13) has been seen in better races than this and has benefited from a first-up outing at Gatton. A good gate helps and with Tom Orr's 2kg claim she can show what she's got. Verdict – GOODES (5) has more to offer. â– â– â– â– â– Race 4 – Benchmark 58 Handicap (1900m) PAPAL MISS (3) mowed them down on the Gold Coast Poltrack last start and it was at this track she got her Maiden out of the way at start number 28. She has won four times since and while wins are spaced back-to-back is not impossible. DANCE BABE (11) had a change of stables and led them up before being found out by Papal Miss and company last start at the Gold Coast. Her only win was here, blinkers come off and a bold ride will make her hard to pass. TAVIESLASS (5) doesn't win out of turn but led them up in a stronger race than this at Toowoomba last start. Billi-Rose Andrew stays on and will be near the speed throughout. SHAPE OF WATER (7) steps up in trip but has less convictions than any of these. He is backing up quickly after the gate cost him dearly at Beaudesert and a positive ride from 2kg claimer Colleen Krahnen will make a difference. Verdict – PAPAL MISS (3) to round them up. â– â– â– â– â– Race 5 – 0-58 Handicap (1500m) GRAND CRUSADER (2)'s recent form is on the Gold Coast polytrack but he led them up and was only narrowly beaten at his only previous start here. With Jackson Morris from gate one he can dictate the tempo to suit and be hard to pass. TARADALE (3) has less convictions than most and wasn't beaten far when coming from a wide gate at Ipswich last start. His recent outings have been against better horses than this and he will get every chance with Adin Thompson. BAUHAUS (13) struggled on the polytrack last start but wasn't beaten far at Gatton two starts back and that is good enough for this, SUPRENDRE (12) chased Grand Crusader home on the Gold Coast poly last start. She is hard to follow but a replication of that effort has her in the money. Verdict – GRAND CRUSADER (2) hard to pass. â– â– â– â– â– Race 6 – 2&3YO Fillies Maiden Plate (1200m) Chris Anderson has brought IN GREAT SPIRIT (4) here after a solid first-up effort at Ipswich. She wasn't beaten far by Saturday winners at her two previous outings, trials soundly and will get every chance with Micheal Hellyer from the ace draw. GREYT PERFORMER (3) only battled from a wide gate at Ipswich when resuming but will find this journey more to her liking. Like Tarrant replaces Rikki Jamieson and will be in the finish SHAMROCK'S SECRET (7) is fitter for two outings, has experience here and gets to the right trip. With Dan McGillivray she will get every chance. BELLA SPIRITO (2) was well beaten on the poly at debut is better suited here and will get every chance with Justin Stanley. Verdict – IN GREAT SPIRIT (4) is ready to win. â– â– â– â– â– Race 7 – Benchmark 65 Handicap (1200m) Kilcoy is a specialist's track and CONSTANT CAFE (8) was unsighted at Ipswich when resuming, she is three from three here and improves second-up. A good gate helps, and Adin Thompson will have her in the box seat throughout. HALF CROWN (7) ran on stoutly to be beaten only a length at the Sunshine Coast when resuming. How he will handle this tight track is anybody's guess but he does have a win at Warwick and three of his four wins have been second-up. With Brandon Lerena he will be swooping late. The stablemate UMETINI (9) may want longer but has a good first-up record and looked solid at a recent trial. The tight track tests but 3kg claimer Kayla Johnston is learning her craft on these bush circuits. MISHANI GANGSTER (4) is backing up after doing everything but win at Beaudesert on Monday. A wide gate tests but 2kg claimer Tom Orr will take no prisoners. Verdict – CONSTANT CAFE (8) is a track and distance specialist. â– â– â– â– â– Race 8 – 0-55 Handicap (1200m) The upside is with NIRVANA THE STORM (3) which got the maiden out of the way at Beaudesert on Monday. He has been racing consistently, placed here two starts back and will get a good run with Brandon Lerena. Blinkers and a tongue-tie go on STOP THE TAPE (4), a Maiden which has been backed at both outings on the back of strong trials. He takes on seasoned winners here, but this field could fall away and where there's smoke there's fire. MAJESTICS REQUEST (1) hasn't won for a long time and was unsighted from a wide gate at Ipswich last outing. He made ground here two starts back over this trip and now having his third outing since a change of stables gets a strong rider in Paul Hamblin. If anything is there, he will find it. BEE EXACT (6) can't draw a gate for love nor money but has been racing consistently and Olivia Kendal stays on. With some luck with scratchings to improve the gate he can be in the finish. Verdict – NIRVANA THE STORM (3) to back-up. â– â– â– â– â– Race 9 – 0-55 Handicap (1200m) BOOMI'S BUDDY (1) didn't fire at Gatton last outing but has won twice here previously and was only run down late here two starts back when resuming. Corey Sutherland gets back on and from the ace draw can control the race. QICKWIT (5) has found some form and after working from a wide gate was only found out late at Gatton. He will find this easier and with Colleen Krahnen's 2kg claim will be prominent for a long way. CHEMIOSMOSIS (7) finds it hard to win but has speed and from a good gate will get every chance with Georgina Cartwright. PABALLO (3) brings country form but has won here previously and gets a 4kg claim for Amie Meissner. He has speed, is well drawn and can make his presence felt.

Gold Coast race-by-race preview and tips for Friday
Queensland form student Graeme Carey has run the rule over Friday's night's strong Gold Coast card and here are his race-by-race tips and best gambles. â– â– â– â– â– BEST BET: ENTERPRISE LUCIA (Race 7 No 7) NEXT BEST: SISSTAINABLE (Race 3 No 10) VALUE BET: PENSIERO (Race 8 No 11) â– â– â– â– â– Quaddie numbers are: Race 5 - 4.8,10 Race 6 - 7.9,11 Race 7 - 2.7,8 Race 8 - 2,3,10,11 $108 = 100 per cent of the dividend â– â– â– â– â– Race 1 – 2YO Maiden Handicap (1400m) This journey should suit the Dundeel colt LEVERAGED BUYOUT (7). At his only start he finished three lengths off Beadman and will appreciate the step up to 1400m. From the wide gate he will go back, and Kyle Wilson-Taylor can round them up. Experience is with NOTTINGTON PRINCE (1) which fought on well in the Group 3 Ken Russell last start and wasn't disgraced in the Aquis Jewel. That form is good enough for a maiden over this trip. CERTIFY (5) is a Justify colt with the benefit of four trials, two of them here. From the ace draw he will get every chance with Michael Rodd. ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR (2) ran in stronger races than this at his first preparation and made ground from the back when resuming at Eagle Farm. This extra distance suits and with a positive ride from Cejay Graham will be in the finish. Verdict - LEVERAGED BUYOUT (7) should relish the step up to 1400m. â– â– â– â– â– Race 2 - Benchmark 78 Handicap (2213m) AKROTIRI (3) had support and was too strong for a midweek field when resuming at Eagle Farm. This is harder but the 2kg claim for Tahlia Fenlon and the extra distance helps. A late maturer, he may be about to hit his straps. FULL OF SINCERITY (2) has shown some dash at his two outings since joining Matt Dunn. He is yet to win beyond 1600m but placed in a New Zealand Derby earlier in his career and this trip should hold no fears. From a good gate with Cobi Vitler's 3kg claim he will near the speed for a long way. BESTOWER (9) did all but win here two weeks ago on Hollindale day in similar class. She doesn't win often and needs the sting out of the ground, but Andrew Mallyon stays on and will give her the gun run. ARTFUL GIRL (8) found the Hollindale beyond her but is fitter for two outings and always competitive in the grade. Verdict - AKROTIRI (3) looks suitably placed. â– â– â– â– â– Race 3 - Magic Millions National 2YO Classic (1000m) The McEvoys bought SISSTAINABLE (10) north for this race and she got the maiden comfortably out of the way at Eagle Farm. Harry Coffey has come up to ride here and will be hard to hold out. PRINCE TYCOON (2) has the visitor's draw but looks a talented type and franked his trials winning in Saturday grade on debut at Caulfield. He has speed and with Blake Shinn can overcome the gate. DRAGONNE ROUGE (6) doesn't have the pedigree of some of these but won a Listed race last start and is yet to be beaten in three outings. All wins have been on soft ground; she drops back to 1000m but cannot be discounted. ISTI STAR (12) destroyed them at Ipswich and whilst this is harder has the advantage of the inside draw. He will be prominent for a long way. Verdict - SISSTAINABLE (10) looks hard to beat. â– â– â– â– â– Race 4 – 3YO Benchmark 65 Handicap (1800m) LA COMETA (8) got too far back in a muddling run race at Ipswich last start but wasn't far away at the end. She drops back to her own age group and her only win was over this trip. With Michael Rodd, she can round them up. THINK LIKE PADDY (5) got the maiden done when having his first start since coming north to Matt Dunn. This trip is what he wants and if he has upside, Blake Shinn will find it. SAN JOSE BOY (3) hasn't put in a bad run since resuming and won over this trip here two starts back. This is harder but Damien Thornton will have him well-placed throughout. SAVANNAH GANGSTER (1) got the job done on the poly last start and has shown a liking for distance. He makes his own luck and with Cody Collis 2kg claim will be prominent for a long way. Verdict - Class will take LA COMETA (8) a long way here. â– â– â– â– â– Race 5 - 3&4YO Class 4 Plate (1400m) ALECTRONA (8) brings solid Victorian form and has been readied by two trials. She is yet to miss a place first-up and Harry Coffey will have her near the speed throughout. SCUD (4) did all but beat the talented Floozie here last start in a Listed race over this trip. He rises 5kg and is poorly drawn but has the form on the board and Robbie Dolan knows what to do. Wins are hard to come by for FRENCH ENDEAVOUR (10) but she is the highest rated horse in the field and has been improved by two outings since joining Billy Healey. She gives a start, but Cejay Graham stays on and will be rounding them up late. MARAGICAL (15) showed what she can do when on a good track beating all but Pierata's Gem last start. This trip suits and with only 53kg Emily Lang can send her forward to control the race. Verdict - Having something on ALECTRONA (8). â– â– â– â– â– Race 6 - Benchmark 68 Handicap (1200m) Brett Cavanough has been having a good run since setting up his Gold Coast stable and HELLCIBELL (9) will find this easier than recent outings. A winner of four of 10, a good gate helps and with Cobi Vitler's 3kg claim she will be prominent throughout. MISTER BIANCO (7) was heavily supported but couldn't hold off Captain Fenkel at Ipswich last start. He was racing in stronger company than this last preparation, is fitter for two outings, drops back to 1200m and will be hard to hold out. NORTH OF ELI (11) has promised more than delivered but ran on well behind Jenchick Boom when resuming from a freshen-up at Ipswich. This bigger track suits and Andrew Mallyon will have him hitting the line. FLYING BIRDS (6) saves his best for here, has been improved by two outings and gets the gun run with Sean Cormack. Verdict - HELLCIBELL (9) to bounce back. â– â– â– â– â– Race 7 - Benchmark 78 Handicap (1000m) ENTERPRISE LUCIA (7) was only found out late here on a heavy track in a higher benchmark than this last start. She drops back to her optimum trip and from the ace draw with Cody Colis 2kg claim will be hard to pass. ACTION KING (2) is fitter for two outings and won his only previous start over this trip. With Jag Guthmann-Chester he gets the gun run and will test the speedsters late. ARISPHERE (8) loves this trip and will appreciate getting on to a good track. She won a recent trial, and Angela Jones will be winding her up late. REMLAP'S ANGEL (11) goes fast and won her last start here over this trip. She will find this easier than the Military Rose and with only 54kg will be prominent for a long way. Verdict - ENTERPRISE LUCIA (7) to burn them off. â– â– â– â– â– This trip suits PENSIERO (11) which has fewer convictions than most of these and wasn't far away at Ipswich last start. With a good gate and Tahlia Fenlon's 2kg claim there will be no excuses. FIRST MAN (2) has had his share of chances and keeps finding one better. A good gate helps, and Michael Rodd will give him every chance. GLOBAL (3) came from a wide gate and made good ground on debut to place at Ipswich. This trip suits and Brandon Lerena can have him in the money again. MISS HIGHFALUTIN (10) has been around the mark at all four outings and will get every chance with Angela Jones.

Sunshine Coast Polytrack race-by-race preview and tips for Sunday
Queensland form analyst Graeme Carey has provided race-by-race analysis, tips and best bets for Sunday's Sunshine Coast meeting on the Polytrack. â– â– â– â– â– BEST BET: PEE BEE NOIR (Race 5 No 9) NEXT BEST: CHARMING NIC (Race 8 No 1) VALUE BET: LIMERO (Race 4 No 9) â– â– â– â– â– Quaddie numbers are: Race 5 – 3,4,9 Race 6 – 6,9,10 Race 7 – 1,2,5 Race 8 – 1,3 $54 = 100 per cent of the dividend â– â– â– â– â– Race 1 – 2YO Maiden Plate (1000m) BOURBON COUNTY (1) is bred for speed and won his trial in dominant fashion. With Michael Rodd he will be hard to pass. ANGEL'S TRUMPET (8) did all but win here last week over this trip. She has had a few chances, but Dale Smith stays on and will be in the finish again. VAREJAO (7) will strip fitter after his solid first-up placing at Ipswich when unfancied in the market. Kyle Wilson-Taylor stays on, and he won't be far away in running. SECRET SCOUT (5) has had a couple of solid trials and while longer may be better will get every chance with Angela Jones. Verdict – Watch market, BOURBON COUNTY (1) may be the one. â– â– â– â– â– Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1600m) UNDER ARREST (8) is a two year-old taking on older horses. He steps up in journey after leading and being found out late at Ipswich but meets a moderate field and is bred for this trip. He won't have to be a star to get the job done against these. PREFER TO DANCE (4) only battled at Toowoomba but wasn't beaten far at his only previous poly outing over this trip. He meets an ordinary field, and a positive ride has him in the finish. MISSILE AWAY (1) is yet to place in ten starts but was only a length off the winner last outing when resuming. He won't find a weaker field than this and with Luke Dempsey can make his mark. A good gate and winkers replacing blinkers helps GALAXY SUNSET (3) which has shown little to date but will appreciate 1600m. With a positive ride from Jai Williams he can get in the picture. Verdict – UNDER ARREST (8) the one with upside. â– â– â– â– â– Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1100m) EQUINE ART (6) disappointed on a heavy track when resuming at Beaudesert. Luke Dempsey stays on and won't be far away in running. BRAVE COWBOY BILL (2) has been trying for a while but his only placing came on the polytrack and his recent trial was strong. He is poorly drawn, but Ryan Maloney will take no prisoners. BIT OF GRUNT (1) has been trying for a while and may want longer but has speed and Adam Sewell can take advantage of gate one. CHIARO DI LUNA (5) is fitter for two outings and wasn't beaten far at her only poly outing over this trip. With Montana Philpot's 2kg claim she won't be far away in running. Verdict – EQUINE ART (6) can get it done. â– â– â– â– â– Race 4 – Benchmark 68 Handicap (1100m) Stuart Kendrick is leading trainer here for a reason and while the gate tests LIMERO (9) has been racing in stronger races than this and only just missed at his only previous poly outing. Kyle Wilson-Taylor stays on, he gets a tongue-tie, and it will be handlebars down from the outset. The tongue-tie comes off KING YOSHI (4) which is another drawn poorly, but showed the poly holds no terrors last start and will be prominent for Angela Jones. Bad gates have tested WHISKEY DANCER (11) at recent outings. She likes the poly, all the gear comes off and from the better draw over an optimum trip can show up for Brandon Lerena. RUBY CHICKS (5) has disappointed at her past two outings but is better than that and draws to do no work. This is her first poly outing but will be given every chance by 2kg claimer Rob Thorburn. Verdict – LIMERO (9) will be hard to pass. â– â– â– â– â– Race 5 – 3YO Maiden Plate (1400m) PEE BEE NOIR (9) ran in some good races last preparation and was far from disgraced when resuming at Ipswich. The extra distance suits and from gate one will get all the favours with Mark Du Plessis. The gate tests PARO (4) which keeps finding one better but has speed and with Like Dempsey staying on will be prominent for a long way. NORTHERN EAGLE (3) needs help from the gate but wasn't disgraced in a stronger Maiden than this at Ipswich when having his first outing for the Munces since coming North. This is his first poly outing but he may have more upside than the rest. JUST WALTER (2) has been around the mark at both outings and will get the gun run with Anthony Allen. The polytrack is an unknown but if he handles it will be in the frame. Verdict – PEE BEE NOIR (9) is the one for me. â– â– â– â– â– Race 6 – Benchmark 55 Handicap (1100m) The one with fewest convictions is CIRCLE OF LOVE (5) which is resuming after a change of stables. She has speed and Kyle Wilson-Taylor will take no prisoners. INTEGRITY LANE (1) won first-up last preparation here over 1000m and while this trip is his limit, has been readied by a recent trial, gets a 2kg claim for Corey Sutherland and has the speed to overcome a wide gate. SIR MAURICE (2) also needs help with the gate but beat a better field than this two starts back and has been kept fresh by a recent trial. Now having his third outing for Jack Bruce his Southern form is up to this. MR POLAR (4) has waited a long time for his first polytrack outing but can improve on his last turf effort here and will appreciate Ryan Maloney. Verdict – CIRCLE OF LOVE (5) has more to offer. â– â– â– â– â– Race 7 – Benchmark 68 Handicap (1400m) MAYNE (6) was easy in the market and worked too hard from a wide gate when resuming. His only win came when second-up and with Ryan Maloney from a good gate will get every chance to repeat the dose. BECAMO (9) has been knocking on the door and beat all but the winner here last start. Tiff Brooker stays on, and a positive ride has him in the finish again. OUT OF ACES (10) showed promise last preparation and looked good at a recent trial. He draws to do no work and can finish off for Kyle Wilson-Taylor. AMBASSADORS (8) couldn't get it done at Warwick when having his first start for Jack Bruce but has Sydney form good enough to test these and will get every chance with Angela Jones. Verdict – MAYNE (6) maps to win. â– â– â– â– â– Race 8 – Benchmark 55 Handicap (1400m) CHARMING NIC (1) has benefited from a recent trial. Blinkers come off after his moderate effort at Sandown and his facile Swan Hill maiden win has him more than competitive in this class. Winkers come off CHAPPARAL CHASE (3) which had support but only battled when resuming on the poly and has trialled since. He has less convictions than most of these, this trip suits and Corey Sutherland won't be afraid to go forward from the wide gate. WAR TOO ALL (10) led them up before fading on the polytrack last week. He has speed and with Jag Guthmann-Chester can give a sight again. KETTLEBELL (9) won her only poly start and while this trip is an unknown has the speed to give a sight.
