Great Eastern Takaful And Microsoft Malaysia Launch Minecraft Education Challenge 2025

GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- Great Eastern Takaful Berhad (GETB), together with the Ministry of Education Malaysia and Microsoft Malaysia, has launched the Minecraft Education Challenge 2025, a fully digital initiative that aims to foster creativity, environmental awareness and financial literacy among school students by encouraging innovation and critical thinking through edutainment. GETB, in a statement today, said since its inception in 2020, the challenge is now open to all schools nationwide, including MARA junior science colleges (MRSM), as well as private and international schools, marking a significant milestone in inclusivity and opportunity for young minds across Malaysia. "The programme leverages Minecraft, one of the most popular games among today's youth, to deliver an immersive and engaging digital experience. 'Through this interactive platform, students delve into the principles of environmental protection and Takaful, while sharpening their problem-solving skills and digital literacy," read the statement. Great Eastern Takaful chief executive officer Shahrul Azlan Shahriman, in the same statement, said the programme serves as a platform to instil Takaful awareness and financial responsibility in a way that resonates with today's youth, exemplified by the inclusion of a specially designed 'GETB Shield' within the challenge's design element. 'Today's digital launch is more than a challenge, it is a step forward into sustainability and a fun learning process. At Great Eastern Takaful, we are committed to connecting with the younger generation through technology that sparks creativity and reinforces shared values," he said. Building on the GET-Green initiative, the company said the programme integrates upcycling awareness and green design principles into students' creations through the 'Rumah Mesra Alam dan Kalis Bencana' challenge. "This task encourages students to move beyond aesthetics and consider the real-world impact of their design choices. "As they conceptualise and construct their own eco-friendly, disaster-resilient homes, students are introduced to the fundamentals of sustainable living, resource conservation, and mindful consumption," it said.
