Drive sweep doubleheader against Jersey Shore

GREENVILLE, S.C. — A five-run first inning and six strong innings from Michael Sansone powered the Greenville Drive (24–25) to a 6–1 victory over the Jersey Shore Blue Claws (17–31) in the second game of Friday's doubleheader at Fluor Field. Greenville won the first of two seven inning contests behind Hudson White's two home runs, his second a two-run blast that snapped a 4-4 tie in the fifth inning, en route to a 6-4 win. Sansone (1–0), making his first start in front of the home crowd since joining the Drive, scattered three hits and allowed only one run in six innings while striking out six and walking two. The left-hander was in control from the outset after allowing a first-inning run, retiring 14 of the final 18 batters he faced. Jersey Shore grabbed a quick 1–0 lead in the top of the first after Carson DeMartini singled, advanced on a balk, and scored on Dylan Campbell's RBI single. But that early advantage evaporated quickly. Greenville sent nine men to the plate in the home half, roughing up Jersey Shore starter Mavis Graves (2–4) for five runs—three earned—on four hits in just two-thirds of an inning. With two outs and runners on first and second, Red Sox No. 24 Prospect Nazzan Zanetello ripped an RBI double down the left-field line to tie the game. Brooks Brannon followed with a two-run double to the right-field corner, and an error by first baseman Luke Davis allowed another run to cross. Andy Lugo capped the rally with a double to the right-center gap to make it 5–1. Graves exited after facing nine batters, and the BlueClaws never recovered. Brannon finished 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored, while Zanetello, Lugo, and Franklin Arias each added RBI hits. Arias plated Greenville's final run in the fifth with a two-out RBI single to score Brannon. The Drive bullpen made sure the lead held. Right-hander Cooper Adams pitched a clean seventh to seal the win, inducing three consecutive groundouts to end it. Jersey Shore managed just three hits—all singles—and left only three runners on base. Campbell's first-inning knock accounted for the BlueClaws' lone RBI. Sansone and Adams combined to retire the final seven batters in order. The win in game two also game the Drive their first series win since the second series of the season against Winston-Salem in early April. The teams will continue their six-game series Saturday at Fluor Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Drive pound Jersey Shore

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The one-two punch of Red Sox Top Prospects was dominate, No. 3 prospect Franklin Arias had four hits and No. 21 prospect Nelly Taylor drove in three runs, and the Greenville Drive used a five-run sixth inning to pull away from the Jersey Shore BlueClaws in a 10-4 win Thursday night at Fluor Field. Greenville (22-25) pounded out 14 hits — including home runs from Taylor and Andy Lugo — and capitalized on a pair of Jersey Shore errors to snap a two-game skid. Arias finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Taylor went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo homer. The Drive jumped ahead early when Taylor launched his fourth home run of the season in the first inning off Blueclaws starter Aaron Combs (0-3), then opened things up in the second. After a Brooks Brannon double and a Justin Riemer single, Lugo delivered the big blow — a three-run homer to left, putting Greenville up 4-0. Jersey Shore (17-29) clawed back with a run in the third on Dylan Campbell's RBI single and got within 5-3 in the sixth when Bryson Ware belted a two-run homer off Darvin Garcia (1-2), who earned the win in relief despite a shaky outing. Greenville responded emphatically in the bottom of the frame. Brannon tripled in Miguel Bleis, then scored on a fielder's choice. Arias added an RBI single before Taylor ripped a two-run double to left-center, extending the lead to 10-3 and effectively sealing the win. Garcia allowed three runs on three hits over 2 2/3 innings in relief of starter Payton Tolle, who scattered five hits and one run over 4 1/3 innings. Matt McShane tossed two scoreless innings to close it out. Ware led the Blueclaws at the plate with a home run and two RBIs. Catcher Kehden Hettiger added three hits, including a double, and scored once. The Drive showed aggression on the bases but were caught stealing twice in the first two innings. Still, their offensive outburst was enough to overcome those missed opportunities and a pair of errors by third baseman Antonio Anderson. Combs was tagged for five runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. Greenville then jumped on reliever Brandon Beckel for five more runs — just one earned — in the sixth. Only six of Greenville's 10 runs were earned as Jersey Shore's defense faltered late. With the win, Greenville improved to 13-11 at home and continued to climb toward .500. The Drive sit 3 1/2 games out of first place in the South Division and look to narrow the gap tomorrow. The two teams continue their six-game series with a Friday doubleheader at Fluor Field with game one scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Rodriguez has big night in Drive triumph

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Red Sox No. 10 Prospect Yophery Rodriguez doubled three times and drove in five runs, and the Greenville Drive staved off a late push to beat the Jersey Shore Blueclaws 10-7 on Wednesday night at Fluor Field in the opener of a six-game homestand. The Drive (21-25) plated five runs in the second inning and never relinquished the lead, handing Jersey Shore's Alex McFarlane (0-5) another rough outing. McFarlane allowed five earned runs over just 1 2/3 innings as Greenville's offense struck early and often. Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Murphy, making his first rehab appearance since coming off the injured list, tossed a scoreless first inning for Greenville, striking out two on just 13 pitches in his brief but effective outing. Murphy spent time on the Greenville roster in 2021 before making it all the way to The Show in 2022. Murphy looked sharp in his return to the mound and will continue his rehab stint in Greenville during this homestand. Eduardo Rivera (2-1) followed with 4 1/3 innings in relief, giving up four runs on four hits while striking out eight. Closer Cooper Adams earned his first save, stranding the tying run in the on-deck circle in the ninth. Greenville's offense broke through in the second after Antonio Anderson led off with a double. After a hit-by-pitch and a force out, Brooks Brannon drove in Anderson with a single, and Justin Riemer followed with an RBI knock of his own. With two outs, Rodriguez delivered the big blow — a bases-clearing double to left-center that gave Greenville a 5-1 lead. Rodriguez struck again in the fifth, adding another two-run double as part of a three-run inning that pushed the lead to 9-3. Anderson finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, while Brannon collected three hits and an RBI. Riemer added two RBIs and stole two bases. The Drive racked up 12 hits, including six doubles, and went 6-for-17 with runners in scoring position. Jersey Shore (17-28) showed life late, cutting a 9-3 deficit to 9-6 in the sixth on a three-run homer by Carson DeMartini — his fourth of the season — off reliever Danny Kirwin. DeMartini drove in three and stole a base, while Jordan Dissin and Dylan Campbell each added an RBI. Despite drawing six walks and stealing four bases, the Blueclaws were held in check by timely pitching and left 10 runners on base. Greenville's bullpen combined for 19 strikeouts, with Stebens fanning five over 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Jersey Shore threatened in the ninth, putting the tying run on deck after a hit-by-pitch and a walk, but Drive southpaw Cooper Adams struck out Lopez to end it. Bleis hits pair of HR's to power Drive past Spartanburgers 6-1 in series finale

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Greenville Drive) — Miguel Bleis belted a pair of home runs and drove in four runs as the Greenville Drive topped the Hub City Spartanburgers 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Park. Bleis launched a three-run homer in the first inning and added a solo shot in the seventh, powering Greenville (9-11) to a win to close out the road trip. The Drive jumped ahead early after a throwing error and a two-out rally, with Bleis delivering the big blow off Spartanburgers starter Jose Gonzalez (0-2). Greenville added single runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings, capitalizing on 11 walks issued by Hub City pitching. Juan Montero contributed an RBI single in the third, and Nelly Taylor added a two-out RBI fielder's choice in the sixth. Dalton Rogers (2-0) picked up the win in relief, tossing five innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts. Starter Payton Tolle was sharp as well, striking out nine and allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings. Cal Stark provided the lone highlight for Hub City (12-9), drilling a solo home run to left in the seventh off Rogers. Gleider Figuereo and Dylan Dreiling also collected hits for the Spartanburgers, who managed just four total against Greenville's pitching staff. Drive pitching returned to form after a head scratching 13 walk performance on Saturday. Gonzalez took the loss after giving up four runs — just one earned — over 3 2/3 innings. The Spartanburgers' bullpen combined for 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball but struggled with command, issuing eight free passes. Bleis finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, while Andy Lugo added two hits and a walk for the Drive, who left 13 runners on base, but did enough early to build a comfortable cushion. Greenville ultimately dropped the series in Spartanburg 4 games to 2. The Drive was able to salvage the final game of the series to return home with some momentum to carry into the next series. The Drive will return home to the friendly confines of Fluor Field for a 6 game set with the Asheville Tourists beginning April 29, with first pitch scheduled for 6:45 pm.
