Sanjay Kaul appointed MD and CEO of GIFT City, Gandhinagar
Sanjay Kaul, a 2001-batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GIFT City Company Limited in Gandhinagar on deputation. The General Administration Department (GAD) of Gujarat government issued a notification in this regard on Monday. Currently, Kaul is on central deputation performing duties as joint secretary in the Union Ministry of Culture, handling portfolios like international cultural relations, UNESCO and Intangible Cultural Heritage, Library & Schemes and The Asiatic Society & Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies. As per the GAD notification, Kaul will be on deputation at GIFT City from the date of assumption of charge of the post, for a period of three years or until further orders. Sanjay Kaul has earlier worked in Gujarat on deputation as the managing director of the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited and Gujarat Informatics Limited. The outgoing MD and CEO of GIFT City Company Limited, Tapan Ray, a retired Gujarat-cadre IAS officer is expected to hold the charge of the post till Kaul assumes charge.

Gujarat govt transfers 13 IAS officers
Gujarat government, on Tuesday, transferred 13 IAS officers in the state. A Gujarat-cadre IAS officer of 2000-batch, M Thennarasan, has been appointed as Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Urban Housing Department replacing Aswhani Kumar, a 1997-batch officer. Thennarasan is currently holding the post of Principal Secretary of Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department. Kumar has been transferred as Principal Secretary of Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department. However, he will continue to hold the additional charge of the post of Principal Secretary of Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department. In the same transfer order, the government has relieved Kumar from the additional charge of Principal Secretary of Ports and Transport Department and given the responsibility to R C Meena, who is Principal Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department. Milind Torwane, the Managing Director of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPC), has been transferred and appointed as the Principal Secretary of Panchayat, Rural Housing and Rural Development Department. He will also hold the additional charge of the post of Commissioner of Rural Development. Torwane has also been given additional charge as MD of GSPC till further orders. Rajkot Collector Prabhav Joshi has been transferred and appointed as MD of Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited. Municipal Commissioner of Junagadh Municipal Corporation (JMC) Om Prakash has been appointed as Rajkot Collector whereas, MD of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited in Vadodara Tejas Parmar has been appointed as Municipal Commissioner of JMC. The Collector of Panchamahals-Godhra Ashish Kumar has been transferred and appointed as Director of Tribal Development.

Centre terminates SECI CMD RP Gupta's services
The Central government on Saturday terminated with 'immediate effect' the services of a retired Gujarat-cadre IAS officer RP Gupta from the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), just about a month before his tenure was to end in June 2025. According to the order issued by the Department of Personnel Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Gupta's termination ahead of the completion of his scheduled term on June 14, 2025, although no official reason has been cited. Gupta, who is a 1987 batch officer, retired as Secretary, Environment Forest and Climate Change Ministry in 2021. He joined SECI in June 2023. Gupta, a graduate in aerospace engineering from IIT Kanpur, has also worked with Niti Aayog and the Ministry of Coal. The government is yet to find a successor for Gupta, sources said.
