1 2 Gandhinagar: A seminar titled 'Aatmanirbharata in the Defence Sector' was organised in Gandhinagar on Monday with the aim of enabling Gujarat-based MSMEs to access and participate in national defence procurement, innovation, and exports. The event was jointly organised by the department of defence production, Govt of India in association with the state industries and mines department, GCCI, and Laghu Udyog Bharti. An official statement said the seminar focused on topics such as engineering, precision fabrication and machining, defence electronics and embedded systems, UAVs, aerospace, and avionics components. The seminar was majorly focused on three key themes: vendor development programme in the defence sector, startups in defence, and the Gujarat Aerospace and Defence Policy. It also sought to create links between local industries and key stakeholders such as defence PSUs, major private companies in the sector, the armed forces, and research and development organisations. The seminar aimed to address those limitations and create pathways for greater participation and growth.
