Chief minister launches Rs 644 crore development projects in Panchmahal on Gujarat Gaurav Divas
Gandhinagar: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel launched Gujarat Gaurav Divas celebrations in Panchmahal on Thursday, by unveiling Rs 644.72 crore in development projects. Highlighting Gujarat's progress post-2001 under Narendra Modi's leadership, Patel emphasised the state's holistic development plan. From Godhra, he virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 85 projects. He also inaugurated the newly constructed office of the Inspector General of Police in Godhra, built at a cost of over Rs 5.05 crore, and visited the arms exhibition organised as part of the Gujarat Police Expo 2025. Patel highlighted that the scale of development projects being inaugurated on Thursday was equivalent to what once constituted an entire year's district development budget. . Robust systems have been established across the state in key areas such as healthcare, education, drinking water, roads, and electricity, he said. He mentioned the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana's impact on eastern tribal areas, , from Ambaji to Umargam. A 100-bed sub-district hospital will be established at Morva Hadaf in Panchmahal district, ensuring better healthcare access for rural communities, he added. The CM said that 4.77 crore citizens have also been registered under Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). He also spoke about the upgradation of 12 roads to Garvi Gujarat high-speed corridors, including the Santarampur–Morva Hadaf road, which will be built for Rs 676 crore to improve connectivity for 3 lakh residents in the region and provide faster access to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mangadh Hill, and the Statue of Unity. Additionally, Rs 110 crore has been approved to extend the Kalol Bypass into a four-lane road. Furthermore, Rs 250 crore has been approved for resurfacing of 171 roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in tribal areas. Irrigation water from Panam dam will reach 9 Panchmahal villages (rs 31 crore), benefiting 1,250 hectares.

65th Maharashtra, Gujarat statehood day: President Murmu, V-P Dhankhar, PM Modi hail rich history of both states
India on Thursday marked the 65th anniversary of the founding of the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, commemorating the moment in 1960 when the sprawling Bombay state was divided along linguistic lines. Known locally as Maharashtra Day and Gujarat Gaurav Divas, the day was celebrated with official tributes and public pride, as national leaders hailed the cultural legacies and economic contributions of the two western states that have helped shape modern India's identity. On the occasion, President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings on social media to the people of both the states. 'On the foundation day of Gujarat state, I extend my heartiest greetings to all my countrymen, especially my Gujarati brothers and sisters living in India and abroad. This land of sons like Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, who gave the message of peace and non-violence to the world, and Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who united India, has always shown the way to humanity,' the President wrote on X (formerly Twitter). 'I am confident that Gujarat will set new standards of progress and will make a significant contribution in making India a world power,' she added. In another post, the President extended her wishes to the people of Maharashtra. She recalled the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and great personalities like Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule, and BR Ambedkar, expressing hope that the state will continue to lead with patriotism and social reform. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, too, reiterated her sentiments. He hailed Gujarat as a land of 'leadership, resilience and innovation'. Godhra decked up to host Guj Foundation Day event
Vadodara: The state's 65th Foundation Day or Gujarat Gaurav Divas will see state-level celebrations being held in Godhra town of Panchmahal district on Thursday. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate and launch development works worth Rs 649.77 crore. A series of events have been planned for the day. Governor Acharya Devvrat and top officials of the state govt will also attend the celebrations. The works to be inaugurated or launched by the CM include projects related to roads and buildings, panchayats, tribal welfare, education, horticulture, animal husbandry, transport and urban development departments. A new regional transport office and a new office for the inspector general of police will also be inaugurated. In total, 86 development works will either be inaugurated or see work start. Patel will also inaugurate the lithium-ion battery recycling plant of Rubamin Pvt Ltd and an ultra-high temperature milk processing plant of Panchamrut Dairy. While Gujarat has always been a land of culture, tradition, prosperity and development, contributing 8.2% to the country's GDP, a new chapter of its development began two decades back when Narendra Modi, now Prime Minister, took over as the chief minister in 2001, it said. "It has since positioned itself as an industry-friendly, tech-savvy, startup-friendly and innovation-friendly state, having attracted international tech companies like Tesla, Micron and Foxconn, encouraging youth towards entrepreneurship, and taking steps for planned development of the tourism sector, among others," it said. For the last two decades, Gujarat has been continuously proving to be a role model through a new chapter of development in the country, the release added. Gujarat has 5% of India's population and 6% of the land, yet it makes a significant contribution to the country's economic development, stated the release. To achieve the Prime Minister's goal of 'Developed India', Gujarat is contributing 8.2% to the country's GDP, and ranks among top five states in terms of economy, it said. GIFT City, Science City, Dholera Smart City, Metro Train, Bullet Train Project, and ports are taking Gujarat towards national leadership. Gujarat holds a leading position in the field of exports, accounting for more than 30% of the total exports in India. This mainly includes petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, ceramics, gems and jewellery, chemicals and pharma products, it said. From April to Dec 2024, Gujarat's share in the country was 27.40% with a total export of 88.16 billion USD, it said. (With PTI input)
