Commitment Predictions: Cantwell, Johnson, Voss

Rivals national recruiting analyst Greg Smith makes a trio of FutureCast predictions. MORE SMITH: Transfer portal ripple effect | Big Ten pipelines CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker 1. Jackson Cantwell to Oregon When Cantwell moved his commitment date up to April 30 it was a signal that he was much closer to deciding his school choice than we anticipated. But when he only moved his Oregon official visit up to April 26-27 that was a great sign for the Ducks. Advertisement Cantwell has a tremendous relationship with coach Dan Lanning and has told Rivals that Lanning is probably his favorite head coach. Lanning has deep ties to Missouri and went to high school in the Kansas City area. The entire staff has recruited Cantwell hard from the start and the Ducks are now a yearly national title contender. Pair all that with a world-class track program and I've got Cantwell announcing he's a Duck on April 30. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT 2. Ohio State keeps four-star LB Cincere Johnson home There are some elite programs after the Ohio native. Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State and USC are all heavily involved for him and will get official visits. Johnson has visited these schools and others this spring but I'm placing an early FutureCast in favor of the in-state Buckeyes. Advertisement Johnson is looking for development and elite linebacker production when thinking about his top schools. The Buckeyes offer that, are close to home and are coming off a national championship. Coach Ryan Day and his staff have recruited Johnson hard and it's tough to see him turning the program down. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT 3. Roman Voss commits to Iowa I'm calling my shot early on this one. Voss hasn't really hit the road in full force yet this spring but is hoping to get out to several schools. There are many schools around the country hoping to get him on campus to stop this from being a Minnesota–Iowa battle. Advertisement But in the end, I think the Minnesota native will ultimately commit to the Iowa Hawkeyes. It was a game changer for Voss when the Hawkeyes offered him as a tight end. The program's history at the position speaks for itself and Iowa puts tight ends into the NFL on a yearly basis. I'm logging a FutureCast for the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder to end up in Iowa City. Midwest Rumor Mill: Ohio camp brings out top 2026 and 2027 prospects

Khalief Canty The Elite 11/All 22 regional tour hit Ohio on Sunday and national recruiting analyst Greg Smith was there scouting the event. Here's the latest recruiting chatter he gathered. MORE: It's been a rough college start for the five-star QBs from 2023 | Recruiting rumor mill CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker Abrams had a nice day at Elite 11 on Sunday tying for the win in the accuracy challenge. The young 2027 quarterback has had a busy spring of visits. Alabama, Iowa State, Minnesota and Tennessee have all received recent visits and he's still hoping to get to Wisconsin, Cincinnati and Nebraska. Advertisement He's taking his time with his recruitment but Alabama and Missouri also want to come see him throw soon. Bernhard's recruitment really took a turn recently when Michigan came through with an offer. The Ohio native is interested in the Wolverines and it appears Ohio State is not going to offer. Still, it may be a waiting game right now for Bernhard as Michigan sorts through its quarterback board more carefully. There is no need to rush with Bryce Underwood on the team. Bernhard had also heard a lot from Indiana, James Madison and Appalachian State lately. Canty took home offensive line MVP honors on Sunday after a pretty dominant performance. He recently took an official visit to North Carolina where he was really impressed with the program. The attention to detail by the staff there has really stood out to him. Advertisement He's hearing a lot from in-state Michigan State and Missouri. He'll take an official visit to Michigan State on June 13 and June 20 to Missouri. The Tigers are a real threat to pull him out of Michigan. Crim turned a lot of heads during the one-on-one sessions. The Ohio native is hearing from Kentucky, Illinois, Boston College and Iowa State the most from his double-digit offer sheet. But he has official visits set to Boston College, Illinois and Iowa State this summer. The Cyclones are in a good spot for him heading into those visits and may prove tough to beat. The high three-star quarterback from La Jolla (Calif.) Bishops loves what he found in Iowa City and is a solid commit to the Hawkeyes. His relationship with offensive coordinator Tim Lester is a big reason why he's excited to play for Iowa in an offense he thinks suits him well. Advertisement His Iowa commitment isn't going to stop other teams from checking in on him. He's been locked in with Iowa and visited recently, but expect the offers to keep rolling in for the California quarterback. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH IOWA FANS AT The high three-star out of Menton (Ohio) High is a player to watch moving forward. He was separating from defensive backs all camp long and ran crisp routes. Buffalo, Ohio, Miami (OH), Toledo and USF are recruiting him hard right now. Bowling Green and UConn are also in the mix for him. Hodge should be a player that receives a lot of new attention after this camp season and into the start of his senior year. The 2027 wide receiver hasn't been to a lot of places yet this spring but he did check out Ohio State. He also wants to check out Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State during his spring tour. Michigan and Michigan State have been recruiting him the hardest to try to keep him in the state.

Rivals250 Release: Breaking down three big moves

Bowe Bentley/Twitter The last month was loaded with opportunities to get updated in-person evaluations of prospects from coast to coast. The national analyst team was out in force and found new prospects who earned high rankings, updated out-dated evaluations and accumulated additional data points on dozens of Rivals250 prospects. Advertisement Sixteen players who were in the previous Rivals250 moved up at least 30 spots in this rankings update. Here's a look at three prospects who made the biggest jumps in this latest version of the Rivals250. 2026 RIVALS250 REFRESH: New schedule explained | Updated Rivals250 revealed | Biggest storylines | Prospects on the five-star radar | Three big jumps WHICH METRO AREA PRODUCES THE BEST HS FOOTBALL TALENT? YOU DECIDE CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker Leading the pack of Rivals250 risers is quarterback Bowe Bentley out of Texas. He burst onto the scene after an outstanding junior season where he led his team to an undefeated season and filled up the stat sheet to the tune of 4,200 total yards and 63 total touchdowns. Advertisement He played well at the Navy All-American Bowl earlier this year and his stock has steadily risen over the last few months. Now, after a 121-spot jump in the rankings, Bentley finds himself at No. 101 in the Rivals250 and a top-10 quarterback in the nation. Parliament hasn't made it to any offseason camps or combines so why the big jump in the rankings? Last month the Iowa offensive line commit set the South Dakota state squat (650 pounds) and dead lift (670 pounds) records. This type of strength should help shorten Parliament's adjustment period once he arrive on campus at Iowa. A translatable trait like this type of elite strength along with his impressive film from his junior season helped push Parliament up 116 spots to No. 84 in the Rivals250 and made him the No. 5 interior offensive line prospect in the nation. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH IOWA FANS AT Upstate New York isn't exactly a hotbed of college football talent but Hampton has put the nation on notice this offseason. After moving up 102 spots in the Rivals250, the explosive and reliable receiver is now ranked No. 65 in the Rivals250 and No. 10 in the receiver rankings. Hampton has been dominant on the 7-on-7 circuit, showcasing high-end route running skills and a knack for hauling in tough catches. He brings a competitive edge to the field and isn't afraid to playing physically. Hampton can win in jump ball situations and can consistently create separation on a wide variety of routes. His offseason is far from over so this may not be the last time we're talking about Hampton moving up the rankings.

Must-get recruiting targets for each Big Ten program

Nick Lucero/ Commitments have started to pick up steam in the 2026 cycle and as a result, programs are getting a better idea of which targets are the most important moving into the spring portion of the cycle. Here are the must-get targets for each Big Ten program in the 2026 class. BIG TEN RECRUITING RANKINGS: 2025 | 2026 RUMOR MILL: Chatter continues despite dead period CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker The Illini are the surprise of the conference so far with their 2026 recruiting class. But it will fall flat if it doesn't land the four-star in-state tight end. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ILLINOIS FANS AT After a magical season in 2025 the Hoosiers need to lock down more four-star talent. The in-state defensive lineman would give a major boost to recruiting efforts. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH INDIANA FANS AT The Hawkeyes already hold a verbal from the California signal-caller. But keeping him committed is huge since he was the top quarterback target of offensive coordinator Tim Lester. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH IOWA FANS AT When the Terps landed an early commitment from Elee it shocked everyone. Holding onto him and getting him to sign would be a signature recruiting win for the program. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MARYLAND FANS AT Sadler is the perfect fit for making the Wolverines' offensive attack more dynamic. Keeping him home would send a message about what skill recruits think about the direction of the program. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MICHIGAN FANS AT The four-star offensive lineman has ties to the program and coach Jonathan Smith has been recruiting him hard for a long time. Landing the in-state lineman over Michigan, Penn State and Notre Dame would be massive. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MICHIGAN STATE FANS AT It feels like the four-star safety is destined to play in the Big Ten. So keeping him away from rivals and landing a talented defensive back would be huge for the Gophers. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MINNESOTA FANS AT The talented running back has game-breaking ability but is also from a familiar high school to Nebraska fans. The Huskers also need to continue expanding the pipeline in Missouri. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NEBRASKA FANS AT Jackson is a two-way standout that could play receiver or safety in college. Pulling him out of Nebraska would be a major coup for the Wildcats. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NORTHWESTERN FANS AT The one nitpick about the Buckeyes' recruiting efforts is they don't land enough game-changing defensive linemen. Geralds is a contender to join the class and he'd fit the bill. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT The Ducks are in the hunt with several elite offensive linemen this cycle. But the one who would make the biggest splash on and off the field is Cantwell. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT Penn State already has a few receiver commits but needs the cherry on top of a good potential haul. Snagging Brown over Georgia and Michigan would be huge. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH PENN STATE FANS AT Bardo is one of the top prospects in Indiana this cycle and has a lot of potential upside when he gets to college. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH PURDUE FANS AT It's been since the 2012 recruiting cycle since Rutgers landed the top prospect in New Jersey. Wafle would buck that staggering trend. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH RUTGERS FANS AT It's going to be hard for the Bruins to pass Oregon or Ohio State for the defender but he's exactly what the Bruins need to change perceptions in-state. The Trojans have been the perceived leader for Lyons for much of his recruitment. Getting him in the class before his religious mission would be massive. Washington doesn't get a ton of four-stars in the state so the Huskies need to make them count. Colman-Brusa could be a cornerstone of the 2026 class. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH WASHINGTON FANS AT The Badgers have made the four-star from Ohio a major priority. Landing him over Ohio State, Michigan and others would show a positive trajectory for the program. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH WISCONSIN FANS AT

Five former FCS standouts that will be household names in the Power Four

Thousands of college players transferred to new schools during the last two months. Many of them moved from one Power Four program to another but some transferred up to the Power Four level from the FCS ranks. Here are five former FCS players who will be household names at the Power Four level come this season. THIS SERIES: Breaking down the biggest impact transfer for each Big Ten program | Biggest SEC transfers | Biggest ACC transfers | Biggest 12 transfers MORE TRANSFER PORTAL: Latest news | Transfer search | Transfer Team Ranking | Football Player Ranking Ohio State stars Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau are off to the NFL so there is an opportunity for playing time at defensive end next season. Of course, the Buckeyes have a few big-time defensive ends ready to fill the void but George is expected to see the field plenty this season. The former Idaho State star has two years of eligibility remaining. In his first two collegiate seasons, George amassed 51 quarterback pressures according to Pro Football Focus. He was also credited with nearly 20 tackles for a loss and six sacks this past season. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT Kentucky's defensive front gutted during this transfer cycle but the Wildcats reloaded with a few very talented and accomplished prospects. Grace is one of the stars of this Kentucky transfer class and will be one of their key players on defense next season. At South Dakota this past season, grace led the conference with nine and a half sacks and 17 tackles for a loss, which earned him FCS All-American honors while also being named Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Diehard football fans are likely familiar with Gronowski but even casual viewers will get to know Iowa's next starting quarterback during the upcoming season. He spent the first four years of his college career with South Dakota State where he won two FCS National Championships in addition to being named FCS National Player of the Year in 2023. Gronowski had the option of entering the upcoming NFL Draft but decided to spend his final year of eligibility playing for the Hawkeyes and head coach Kirk Ferentz. Even though Gronowski is recovering from an injury that will keep him off the field this spring, he is expected to step in and take over the starting role. His track record of winning and high-end production should give Iowa fans a lot to be excited about heading into the upcoming season. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH IOWA FANS AT Head coach Lane Kiffin and his high-flying offense is what moves the needle at Ole Miss but the Rebels had to replace a lot of outgoing talent on the defensive side of the ball during this transfer cycle. In fact, three of the four highest-ranked transfers Ole Miss signed are on the defensive side of the ball. Jones is among those four and should hear his name called frequently during the upcoming season. The SWAC co-Defensive Player of the Year last season, Jones was credited with 122 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Look for Jones to step into the role vacated by Chris Paul Jr. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OLE MISS FANS AT Smith had a prolific 2024 campaign at Southeast Missouri State (76 catches for 929 yards and six touchdowns) but he'll be a household name for Clemson fans for another reason – he was the first non-quarterback transfer the Tigers have taken since Dabo Swinney became head coach. Receiver was certainly a position of need for Clemson and it didn't waste time in the courtship of Smith. He announced his commitment to the Tigers just one week after the transfer portal opened. As Clemson works to re-tool its receiving corps, Smith (6-foot-5) brings a much-needed element of size to the table so don't be surprised if he draws significant attention in the lead-up to the 2025 season.
