Woman killed, another injured in Dube Hostel shooting
Police have launched an investigation following a shooting that left one woman dead and another seriously injured at Dube Hostel on July 12.
Preliminary reports state that the victims were attacked by occupants of a black and white sedan, believed to be a Volkswagen with registration HK89JS GP.
According to SAPS, the incident occurred near room 211A at the hostel, close to the railway line. Upon arrival, officers discovered two female victims lying in an open space.

One was declared dead on the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, while the second victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the lower back and was rushed to Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital in Jabulani for medical treatment.
Witnesses reported that an unknown male driver, accompanied by four women, arrived at the scene before gunfire erupted.
Two women were shot, another reportedly fled across the railway line, and one left the scene with the driver. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

Five spent cartridges were recovered from the scene.
A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened at Meadowlands SAPS. Police also urged anyone with information to come forward.
