Motocross 2025 450 results, highlights, finish at High Point: Jett Lawrence wins overall, Eli Tomac Moto 2
Jett Lawrence and Eli Tomac split the motos at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, but a dominant performance in the first race by Jett as Tomac struggled made the difference in the overall. Jett scored his fourth Motocross win of the season and continues to race virtually unchallenged in the outdoor series. The Moto 2 gate drop and rain fell at the same time, which did what the riders have been unable to. Challenged by conditions, Jett tiptoed through the first corner and was running as low as 10th on Lap 1. He slowly worked his way through the field until he found his comfort level and then methodically picked off the competition. Persistent roost in the first seven laps forced Jett to use all of his tear-offs with a quarter of the scheduled distance remaining. That might have required him to pull into the pits for a goggle change, had it not been for a red flag that waved with seven minutes still on the clock. Jett moved into the third position with one lap to spare, and combined with his Moto 1 win, he scored the overall victory by one point. Jett finished four seconds ahead of Aaron Plessinger and 12 seconds ahead of Justin Cooper, so his third-place result might have been in question if he was forced to pit. Click here for a recap of High Point Jett's good fortune was bad for his brother Hunter Lawrence. Finishing second in both motos, Hunter had enough points to score the overall victory until the final credited lap, when Jett passed Plessinger to score one point more than Hunter. After finishing fifth in the Hangtown Motocross Classic and the Thunder Valley Nationals, Hunter was undoubtedly pleased to be back on the podium. Tomac rocketed to the lead as the rain fell on Moto 2 and rode unchallenged until lightning shortened the race. His fifth-place finish in the first moto came back to haunt him in the overall, especially when he reflected on finishing one second out of third. With those two positions, Tomac would have scored the overall on a tiebreaker. This is the same podium fans saw in the season opener at Fox Raceway. Relive Moto 1 Plessinger kept his streak of moto top-fives alive with a third-place result in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2. He took the lead in the first race when Jett stalled his bike, but lost pace in the closing laps after pressing hard to keep up with Jett. Cooper also swept the top five in his two High Point races with results of fourth in Moto 1 and fifth in Moto 2. If he continues to put himself in a position to win, he could capitalize if Jett ever stumbles. Jett Lawrence scores 450 overall win in Hangtown Motocross Classic with Moto 2 victory
Jett Lawrence settled into a comfortable position to protect his fitness in Moto 1 in the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, before finishing third, but he had no reason to conserve energy in Moto 2. While Jett surged into the lead on Lap 1 and rode away from the field, the difference in the overall lead came at the gate. Eli Tomac got a poor start and was bumped on the frontstretch. He entered Turn 1 last. 'The main obstacle [in Moto 1] was the heat,' Jett told Peacock's Haley Shanley. 'I did what I wanted to do [in Moto 2] and got a start, and they cut [the race] shorter. I just wanted to sprint those first few laps, get a gap, and kind of manage it. It's pretty hard to sprint the whole moto.' Jett has lost only one overall finish in his 450 Pro Motocross career. Tomac was the first rider to beat Jett head-to-head in a moto, but after crashing midway through Moto 2 while racing for eighth, he ultimately finished ninth in the race and failed to score an overall podium. Aaron Plessinger finished second overall after dominating the laps led in Moto 1 and riding under the checkers second in that race. Plessinger was third in Moto 2. 'Days like today, as sweet as this is right here, being out there that last lap, you don't want to do it,' Plessinger said. 'It takes a lot of heart. I was hurting, but I knew I needed to make that pass on Hunter [Lawrence], and I'm super-proud of myself. These last two rounds, I pushed and surprised myself.' Plessinger's solid run in Round 2 elevated him to second in the championship standings, but Jett has already created a 16-point gap with two rounds in the books. Tomac is one point further back in third. Justin Cooper finished second in Moto 2, matching his career-best Motocross moto finish, and he was scored third overall. This is Cooper's first overall podium. 'First of all, two good starts today and the team did a great job of adapting to the track,' Cooper said. Tomac's 1-9 relegated him to fourth overall by two points. 'I probably would have had a good chance at making the run toward the front if it wasn't for the crash, but once that happened, that was all she wrote.' Hunter Lawrence rounded out the top five with results of fifth in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2. Jorge Prado scored his first Motocross top-five race finish in Moto 2, but a modest result of 12th in the first race dropped him to ninth overall. Five minutes were taken off the clock in response to the heat. Moto 2 Results Overall Results Dan Beaver, In-Race Notes Jett got a great start, as catastrophe struck Eli Tomac. He emerged 26th from Turn 1 after getting bumped coming out of the gate. Cooper settled into second, with Cooper Webb third. Tomac made up a lot of ground early and rode 11th on Lap 3, but the five minutes taken off the clock proved to be a huge factor. Tomac needed to finish second for the overall win if Jett won the moto. Tomac moved into the top 10 on Lap 4. He's 17.7 seconds behind second-place Cooper. Jett was comfortable in the lead. He had a six-second lead over Cooper on Lap 5. Also on Lap 5, Plessinger moved around Lawrence. He would finish in second overall if the race were to end this way. Pressing hard, Tomac tucked the wheel on Lap 6 and fell to 12th while racing for the fifth position. Tomac continued to move forward, but shifted into points' protection mode with that accident. Meanwhile, up front, Jorge Prado circled in fifth on Lap 6. Tomac made his way back into the top 10 on Lap 10, passing Joey Savatgy and Coty Schock to ride ninth. Trevor Colip Motocross injury update: Complications from traction led to a stroke
TiLUBE Honda rider Trevor Colip was involved in a serious accident during the second qualification session in Round 2 of the Pro Motocross season in the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, and after being transported to the hospital, he developed medical complications. His family provided an update on his condition over the weekend. During qualification at Hangtown, Hunter Yoder crashed directly in front of Colip, and with no way to avoid the accident, Colip made contact with Yoder's bike and was ejected. Colip was transported to a local hospital to have a broken femur set, but as they placed him in traction, a series of events led to multiple strokes. 'Trevor was alert and responsive, and fully cognitive upon entering the hospital,' his family posted on social media. 'After being put into traction Trevor became unresponsive. Upon later evaluation, it was determined that Trevor had 'many, many strokes' resulting in brain damage visible via MRI. It was discovered that Trevor has a small hole between the upper right and left chambers of the heart. The activity to put the femur into traction released bone marrow containing fat emboli into his bloodstream, and the hole in the heart allowed the fat emboli to travel to his brain, causing the strokes. Following this, Trevor had a surgery to temporarily stabilize his femur with an external fixator last Sunday.' Colip will undergo two more surgeries this week. One is to repair the hole in his heart, and after he has stabilized, another will fix the broken femur. 'The damage to his brain has not been fully determined at this time and the recovery process is yet to be determined,' the post continued. 'As of this update Trevor is alert and communicating. We are focusing on the small wins; he still has a long way to go.' Colip concluded the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross season 14th in the 250 East division, achieving a best result of 11th on three occasions. Motocross 2025 450 results, highlights, finish at Hangtown: Jett Lawrence wins overall, Eli Tomac Moto 1
The potential for a perfect season came to a rapid end in Moto 1 of the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, after a slow start and excessive heat relegated Jett Lawrence to a third-place finish, but he surged to the top of the leaderboard in Moto 2 and earned the overall victory with a 3-1. The Moto 1 loss was one of the few times Jett has been beaten in head-to-head Pro Motocross competition, and the third time he lost a moto on this track. A hard crash in the 2024 Hangtown race dropped Lawrence to 24th in Moto 1, and the effect of that accident contributed to a sixth-place finish in Moto 2. He rebounded immediately to score the overall victory in the next three rounds with four moto wins and a pair of second-place results. Aaron Plessinger lost track of the time on the clock late in the first moto and slowed, allowing Eli Tomac to blast past. Once he realized his mistake, the lost momentum was enough to put him in the clutches of third-place Jett. He was fortunate to fend off the 2023 Motocross champion and finish second in Moto 1. A third-place finish in Moto 2 after a fierce contest with Hunter Lawrence gave him the second position in the overall standings. Advertisement Justin Cooper replicated his career-best moto finish in the second race of the Hangtown Motocross Classic, but a fourth-place result cost enough points to relegate him to third in the overall standings. Cooper finished third in two rounds last year, at Thunder Valley and Spring Creek. As well as Moto 1 went for Tomac, the second race was the polar opposite. He got bumped coming out of the gate and entered Turn 1 in last place. Tomac charged through the field and was challenging for fifth with a realistic opportunity of catching up to second-place Cooper when he tucked a wheel and crashed. Tomac remounted in 12th, regained three positions to finish ninth, but the damage was done. He missed the podium by two positions (about 16 seconds) on the track. Hunter was part of last week's incredible podium that featured three riders returning from injury, but the effects of his shoulder problems in Supercross may not be completely gone. He rode well and swept the top five, but results of fifth in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2 combined to place him fifth overall in the standings. Advertisement Cooper Webb finished seventh in both motos, earning 30 points, which allowed him to maintain his combined SuperMotocross League lead. Missing the race after the effects of his hard Round 1 crash dropped Chase Sexton to a 17-point deficit for the top seeding entering the playoffs. Thunder Valley MX betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines: Lack of dominance impacts Jett Lawrence odds
For a brief moment in the Hangtown Motocross Classic, it appeared Jett Lawrence might be vulnerable, but a series of unfortunate events for Eli Tomac allowed Lawrence to cruise to the Moto 2 victory and another overall win. Lawrence was posted at -283 for Hangtown. That momentary bobble by Jett garnered the attention of the traders, and Jett's odds for the Thunder Valley National in Lakewood, Colorado, became slightly more attractive. This week, it will cost bettors approximately $250 (-253) to net a $100 return. Advertisement However, the relative difference between Lawrence and Tomac (+273) stretched slightly, with Tomac seeing 26 points added to his raw opening odds. The traders continue to treat the 2025 Pro Motocross season as a two-man show, even though Tomac's costly mistake when he tucked his front tire while battling for fifth shook their faith marginally. Hunter Lawrence (+848) holds the third-lowest betting odds as the only other rider under 10/1, largely in response to his Round 1 podium after returning from a shoulder injury suffered during the Monster Energy Supercross championship. Hunter swept the top five in Hangtown, but was never in serious contention for a moto win after scoring a fifth-place finish in Race 1 and a fourth-place result in Moto 2. Aaron Plessinger (+2504) is the rider with the most significant movement this week among top riders. Last week, he opened with odds of approximately 40/1. He came close to winning the first moto before misjudging the time on the clock. Losing pace in the closing laps, he surrendered the victory to Tomac. If that had not happened, Plessinger would have tied Jett in National points. He would have lost the overall on the tiebreaker, however. Justin Cooper (+4445) scored his first podium of the season last week in Hangtown with results of fourth in Moto 1 and second in Moto 2. He was third overall after opening the week with a +151 to finish that well. Cooper's podium odds this week are practically even at +104. Advertisement Cooper Webb (+8233) got the attention of traders last week with a pair of seventh-place moto finishes and a sixth overall. Last week, he opened at more than 127/1, and the traders viewed that as a risky proposition should Jett and Tomac both experience trouble in Thunder Valley. It's difficult to count out a tough rider like Webb. Jorge Prado (+14606) deserves some attention this week, not for the overall win, but for his potential of finally standing on the podium. He faded to 12th in the intense heat of Moto 1 before rebounding to finish fifth in the second race. If he can smooth out his effort and the favorites experience problems, he could be this week's most pleasant surprise. Opening Odds, Outright Overall Win Jett Lawrence, -253 Eli Tomac, +273 Hunter Lawrence, +848 Aaron Plessinger, +2504 Justin Cooper, +4445 Cooper Webb, +8233 Jorge Prado, +14606 Jason Anderson, +15773 RJ Hampshire, +15773 Joey Savatgy, +15773 Malcolm Stewart, +15773 Harri Kullas, +15773 Benny Bloss, +15773 Grant Harlan, +15773 Derek Drake, +15773 Romain Pape, +15773 Lorenzo Locurcio, +15773 Derek Kelley, +15773 Colt Nichols, +15773 Dante Oliveira, +15773 Advertisement Opening Odds, Overall Podium Jett Lawrence, -2500 Eli Tomac, -233 Hunter Lawrence, -150 Aaron Plessinger, -122 Justin Cooper, +104 Cooper Webb, +162 Jason Anderson, +194 Jorge Prado, +660 RJ Hampshire, +864 Joey Savatgy, +895 Malcolm Stewart, +1151 Harri Kullas, +4190 Benny Bloss, +4190 Grant Harlan, +4190 Derek Drake, +4190 Lorenzo Locurcio, +4190 Derek Kelley, +4190 Romain Pape, +4190 Dante Oliveira, +4190 Colt Nichols, +4190 More SuperMotocross News Hangtown 450 Results | 250 Results Jett Lawrence wins Hangtown Moto 2, overall Haiden Deegan's sweep secures Hangtown win Eli Tomac wins Hangtown Motocross 450 Moto 1 Haiden Deegan wins Hangtown Motocross 250 Moto 1 Hangtown Quals: Haiden Deegan wins 250s | Jett Lawrence wins 450s Lachlan Turner wins both WMX Hangtown motos Chase Sexton out of Hangtown Hangtown Preview
