Thunder Valley MX betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines: Lack of dominance impacts Jett Lawrence odds

Yahoo04-06-2025
For a brief moment in the Hangtown Motocross Classic, it appeared Jett Lawrence might be vulnerable, but a series of unfortunate events for Eli Tomac allowed Lawrence to cruise to the Moto 2 victory and another overall win. Lawrence was posted at -283 for Hangtown.
That momentary bobble by Jett garnered the attention of the traders, and Jett's odds for the Thunder Valley National in Lakewood, Colorado, became slightly more attractive. This week, it will cost bettors approximately $250 (-253) to net a $100 return.

However, the relative difference between Lawrence and Tomac (+273) stretched slightly, with Tomac seeing 26 points added to his raw opening odds. The traders continue to treat the 2025 Pro Motocross season as a two-man show, even though Tomac's costly mistake when he tucked his front tire while battling for fifth shook their faith marginally.
Hunter Lawrence (+848) holds the third-lowest betting odds as the only other rider under 10/1, largely in response to his Round 1 podium after returning from a shoulder injury suffered during the Monster Energy Supercross championship. Hunter swept the top five in Hangtown, but was never in serious contention for a moto win after scoring a fifth-place finish in Race 1 and a fourth-place result in Moto 2.
Aaron Plessinger (+2504) is the rider with the most significant movement this week among top riders. Last week, he opened with odds of approximately 40/1. He came close to winning the first moto before misjudging the time on the clock. Losing pace in the closing laps, he surrendered the victory to Tomac. If that had not happened, Plessinger would have tied Jett in National points. He would have lost the overall on the tiebreaker, however.
Justin Cooper (+4445) scored his first podium of the season last week in Hangtown with results of fourth in Moto 1 and second in Moto 2. He was third overall after opening the week with a +151 to finish that well. Cooper's podium odds this week are practically even at +104.

Cooper Webb (+8233) got the attention of traders last week with a pair of seventh-place moto finishes and a sixth overall. Last week, he opened at more than 127/1, and the traders viewed that as a risky proposition should Jett and Tomac both experience trouble in Thunder Valley. It's difficult to count out a tough rider like Webb.
Jorge Prado (+14606) deserves some attention this week, not for the overall win, but for his potential of finally standing on the podium. He faded to 12th in the intense heat of Moto 1 before rebounding to finish fifth in the second race. If he can smooth out his effort and the favorites experience problems, he could be this week's most pleasant surprise.

Mikkel Haarup breaks collarbone in Unadilla mid-air crash

Mikkel Haarup collided with another rider on Lap 5 of Moto 1 on the Unadilla National in New Berlin, New York, and broke his collarbone, ending what could be described as a Cinderella Season. 'Had a good day going, before going down first moto connected with another rider in the air,' Haarup said on social media. 'Getting checked up and put back together. Shout out to my team for the help and the hard work! Appreciate all the positive energy!' Haarup aged out of the MXGP small bike division, and since Factory Triumph would not have their 450 ready until 2026, the decision was made to bring him to the United States for Pro Motocross. Haarup scored his first top-10 in Round 2 of the season when he was scored seventh overall with results of 10th in Moto 1 and ninth in Moto 2. His first top five came on the Fourth of July weekend in the RedBud National with a fourth-place result overall. In total, Haarup earned seven top-10s and an 11th in 10 rounds of 2025, which allowed him to rise in the SuperMotocross standings quickly. Despite failing to earn any points in Unadilla, Haarup left the track 13th in the combined SuperMotocross standings with an 84-point advantage over the cutline, so his invitation to the playoffs was guaranteed. The first round of the playoffs begins on September 6 at zMax Dragway in Concord, North Carolina, and while the team has not stated outright that he is done for the season, collarbone injuries typically take longer to recover from than the time available. Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Unadilla: Jo Shimoda wins third round in five races

Jo Shimoda swept both motos at Unadilla MX in New Berlin, New York, and kept Haiden Deegan from clinching the championship until the season finale. Shimoda was willing to take risks on the rutted and tricky track that Deegan couldn't afford. After the race, Deegan reflected on Shimoda's ride, bemusedly saying, 'That first lap, I was like 'damn, bro, you need to chill.' ' Shimoda continued to ride on the edge to dominate Moto 1 by nearly 40 seconds. He was 13 seconds ahead of Tom Vialle in Moto 2 to score his third win in the last five rounds. Shimoda has not finished worse than second in a moto during the last three rounds. Click here for a recap of Unadilla Deegan had a bigger picture in mind. He could not afford an injury that might keep him off the bike next week at Budds Creek in Mechanicsville, Maryland, because a surging Shimoda would undoubtedly have the speed to overcome a 51-point gap in the remaining four motos. Deegan tested the limits of the track in qualification. He crashed in Qualification 1 and decided discretion was a better course for the race. Finishing second in Moto 1 and third in Moto 2, he was third overall. Deegan now has a 43-point lead over Shimoda. Vialle finished third with moto results of fourth and second. Vialle has shaken the effects of his miserable RedBud and Spring Creek rounds and has back-to-back podiums. With one round remaining, he can still move up a position to third in SuperMotocross points if he gains three on Garrett Marchbanks in the Pro Motocross finale. Relive Moto 1 Seth Hammaker has been on a rollercoaster for four rounds. He finished 34th at Spring Creek, and then thought he had put that behind him with a fourth at Washougal. He failed to back his top-five up with a 10th at Ironman, but found speed again at Unadilla to finish fourth overall with a third-place finish in Moto 1 and a sixth in Moto 2. Julien Beaumer was happy to be in contention for a top five after five consecutive rounds of overall results of 14th or worse. During his struggles, he discovered that a hard crash earlier in the season had diminished his eyesight slightly, and that affected his rhythm. With contact lenses in place, Beaumer finished sixth in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2.
