Man held for creating fake social media a/cs to harass women

Jaipur: Kalwad police here Wednesday arrested a 25-year-old man who allegedly used fake Facebook IDs to target women with obscene content and threats. DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad Meena said that the accused was identified as Prahlad Singh. He was arrested by Kalwad police after a woman filed a complaint containing serious allegations against him. "She alleged that the accused was editing her photos, posting vulgar captions, and spreading threatening images showing him with firearms — all through bogus social media accounts," Meena said. Not just that, he and another man, Ravi Rampuria, allegedly harassed her for four straight days in Feb, forcing cops to treat the matter as a serious cyber crime with intent to intimidate. The complaint, lodged on Tuesday, triggered a probe including the crime branch and technical teams. Using technical surveillance and social media forensics, the police traced the trail of fake profiles to a village in Churu district, where the accused was nabbed. He confessed to creating multiple bogus social accounts to target and defame women online. Police said he also weaponised images — uploading morphed pictures with firearms to intimidate his victims. Several of his posts already went viral, causing panic among many women. Police are now investigating how many more women were targeted by his network of fake accounts.

Doctor gets threat letter seeking 40L in Karni Vihar area, files plaint

Jaipur: Unidentified men threw a threatening letter demanding Rs 40 lakh at a doctor's residence, explicitly warning about his family's safety in the city's Karni Vihar police station area. DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad Meena said that the doctor, who runs a private clinic in the city, found the English-language note in an envelope near his home's gate Thursday while leaving to drop his daughter at school. The typed letter stated- "You don't realise you're putting your family's life in danger. Quietly hand over Rs 40 lakh." The doctor immediately filed a complaint at Karni Vihar police station. Meena said investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from Wednesday night when suspects allegedly approached the house under cover of darkness. The English composition of the threat has raised questions as it differs from typical extortion patterns in the region. Police are examining all angles but have not yet identified suspects. "The language of the letter does not suggest anything pointing to the involvement of a gang; it appears more to be the handiwork of a former employee or someone acquainted with the doctor who targeted him," Meena told TOI. The city police also said that efforts are underway to track down the suspect as soon as possible and are enhancing the security of the doctor. "The language of the letter is incoherent and improper. We believe that the man behind the letter is not very well-educated," Meena said, adding that despite this, police were "leaving no stone unturned" to track down the suspect at the earliest.

16-yr-old with 3 pistols, AK-47 tattoo detained for plotting gangster's murder after social media spat

1 2 Jaipur: A 16-year-old boy, allegedly plotting to murder a gangster following a heated social media spat, was detained Monday with three illegal country-made pistols and live cartridges in the Kalwad area. DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad Meena said the juvenile was nabbed by a police team led by additional DCP (West) Alok Singhal and SHO (Kalwad) Kavita Sharma based on intelligence inputs. "We received a tip-off that a teenager was planning to murder a history-sheeter in Kalwad. He was traced and detained near the identified spot," said Meena. The suspect, dressed in a white T-shirt and black jeans with a black backpack, was intercepted and searched. Police recovered three country-made pistols and three live cartridges from his possession. During questioning, the teenager told police he purchased the weapons for Rs 15,000 from Alwar. He claimed he was locked in an ongoing online feud with Bhupendra Singh, a history-sheeter from Kalwad, and intended to eliminate him. "He had conducted a recce and was waiting for the right opportunity to strike," said Singhal. Police sources said the minor has a criminal record, including a case in Odisha linked to drug smuggling. He is also known for flaunting weapons and threats on social media. "He even has an AK-47 tattoo on his arm and uses his online presence to intimidate others," said an officer. Police are now investigating how the weapons were procured and whether others are involved. A separate probe is underway to trace the Alwar-based supplier and check if the teen had links with any organised criminal group. "The minor was confident that he will kill the history-sheeter and would not be subjected to harsh punishment since he was a juvenile," said Meena.
