Did the Hunting Party Finale Leave You Demanding a Renewal? Grade Season 1 of the NBC Drama

The following contains spoilers from 's April 7 Season 1 finale. NBC's The Hunting Party closed out its 10-episode freshman run with a hunt for Jenna Wells aka 'The Killer Chemist' (which is not really the catchy nickname that the characters made it out to be). More from TVLine The Voice Recap: The Knockouts Put Three More Singers Down for the Count TVLine Asks: How Would You Schedule NBC's Fall Shows, With the NBA Set to Claim Tuesday Nights? The Hunting Party Sneak Peek: Eliza Coupe Is the 'Killer Chemist' at Center of Twisty Finale (Exclusive) Played by Happy Endings alum Eliza Coupe, Jenna was a 'zero empathy' Pit inmate who'd been given the maximum dose of James Whitmore's mysterious psychotropic cocktail. As a result, the onetime pharmacist basically developed a form of DID in which she truly believed she was her look-alike victims. Jenna targeted a cater waiter and then posed as her to infiltrate a posh event held at Whitmore Industries. There, she poisoned dozens of guests who toppled to the floor like a path of dominoes, but left Whitmore himself standing. When Bex, Shane and Jacob stormed the place, Whitmore wound up ordering his goons to draw their guns on the feds, so that he could take Jenna, his 'work of art,' for himself. A shootout followed, in which Jacob took a bullet to the torso. Whitmore wound up dying anyway — poisoned by a small 'patch' Jenna slaps onto the back of victims' necks — and Jenna got away. After Jacob was rushed to the hospital, Bex rang Morales to get the number for Jacob's wife, so that she could be updated. Morales sent Bex's jaw dropping to the floor with the fact that Hassani's wife had died — two years ago — and that is why he's been Stateside since. Jenna next targeted Bex, sneaking into the fed's motel room to snatch her phone, badge and gun (and a stock 'FBI' blazer for good measure), and dosing her wattle bottle before skedaddling. Coming out of the shower, Bex caught on and raced to the team's now-decommissioned base, where Jenna (now sporting soft Bex-y waves) was getting the drop on Odell. Along the way, Bex alerted Shane and told him to meet her there — but he was faced with a dilemma, when he learned that Dr. Dulles had come out of his coma and as such could maybe ID the voice of Shane's mom, seen/heard on one of those VHS tapes. At HQ, Jenna had Odell at gunpoint, ordering him to delete from the government mainframe all signs of her post-Pit existence. Bex, lurking in the shadows while waiting on backup, couldn't quite get a shot at Jenna, but someone did — Shane, who had chosen the team over learning about his mom. (Know who did get the 411 on Shane's mother, though? Morales, who used voice ID software to discover that the unseen woman was/is … Colonel Lazarus! Do we care?) Jenna was dead on the floor at HQ, but she had already dosed Odell with one of her trademark patches, causing him to gush blood from the nose and start to fade fast in a teary Bex's arms. Fearing the worst, Bex opened up about thinking often about him and their 'daughter' Sam…. What did you think about 's freshman finale, its curious Jacob reveal and the identity of Shane's mother? Are you clamoring for a Season 2, or are you actually kinda good?Best of TVLine Mrs. Maisel Flash-Forward List: All of Season 5's Futuristic Easter Eggs Yellowjackets Recap: The Morning After Yellowjackets Recap: The First Supper

Eliza Coupe Just Addressed The Online Trolls Who Criticized Her Appearance, And Her Response Is Perfect

This is Eliza Coupe. You might know her from her role as Jane Kerkovich-Williams in Happy Endings. Perhaps you remember her as Denise "Jo" Mahoney in Scrubs. If not, you definitely remember her from her role as gun-toting badass Tiger from the Hulu series Future Man. Well, Eliza is also in the new Shondaland Netflix miniseries The Residence, starring Uzo Aduba. Eliza portrays Senator Margery Bay Bix, a loud, highly opinionated political official who might be based slightly on a real-life person with the same first name. On March 19, Eliza attended the world premiere of The Residence in Los Angeles. People have apparently commented on her appearance, which prompted Eliza to fire back with the same tenacity and wit as the characters she portrays on TV. On March 22, Eliza took to Instagram to share a clip from Future Man of Tiger pointing a gun at the camera alongside the caption, "My response to all the bad press and wildly altered photos of me floating around the internet. You are all so consistently ridiculous. Thank you for making me laugh. Xoxo." Hulu The Pivoting actor followed up with an Instagram montage with the caption, "Pictures from my camera roll from the past three weeks." If it wasn't clear she was continuing to shut down the haters, Eliza paired the montage with the hashtags "#thisishwhatireallylooklike 🤷🏼‍♀️#truth #haterscanhate #ichooselove #rememberwhoyouare #transmute #elevate #rise #and #shine #love." Haters can hate, but I watched The Residence, and Eliza's great. I hope she doesn't mind if I borrow some of those hashtags for my next photo dump because she also has a way with words.

11 Actors Who Were Fired, Quit, Or Flat-Out Left Massively Popular TV Shows...And Then Came Back

Just because a beloved actor leaves a hit TV show doesn't mean they're gone forever. Here are 11 famous celebs who eventually returned to shows they once starred on, and the reasons for their comebacks are both deeply personal and truly fascinating: 1. Natasha Rothwell on The White Lotus Natasha starred in Season 1 of The White Lotus as Belinda, the spa manager in Hawaii. She didn't appear in Season 2, but she was the first cast member announced for the third season, which is set in Thailand. Natasha told the Hollywood Reporter last year that her return was series creator Mike White's idea. He'd reached out to her while finishing Season 2. "I told him I'd follow him anywhere, and I meant it. I didn't know where the shoot or the storyline were, it was just a yes," she said. Steve Carell starred in the first seven seasons of The Office, leaving the show ahead of Season 8 to pursue other career opportunities. He returned for a guest appearance in the series finale at the end of Season 9. "It was time for other characters to step to the forefront and other storylines to be pursued. I think it was the right. The timing was right," he said on the Office Ladies podcast, hosted by his co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey. In a separate episode of the podcast, Jenna said, "Steve was reluctant" to return for the finale, noting he felt his character's story "had really ended." However, he was convinced to return by series creator Greg Daniels. Christopher Abbott starred as Marnie (Allison Williams)'s college boyfriend, Charlie, in the first two seasons of Girls. He left the show because he couldn't relate to his character. He returned for one episode in Season 5, where Charlie and Marnie run into each other and learn of the different directions their lives have taken. The idea for his return came from series creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner. "It attacked the idea of, in New York especially, after years, people change. People go through weird shifts. It was fun to poke fun at that," Chris told Vanity Fair in 2019 of his return. Damon Wayans Jr. starred in the New Girl pilot but left the show before Season 1 aired because he was already committed to starring in another TV show, Happy Endings, which got picked up for a second season at ABC. When Happy Endings finished its three-season run, Damon returned to New Girl. "There weren't as many rooms when they shot the pilot," Damond told the New York Times in 2013 of returning to New Girl. "It was weird not knowing where stuff was." FOX / Via Patrick J. Adams starred in the first seven seasons of Suits but left to focus on his personal life. He appeared again in the show's ninth and final season. "I was in a zone of living a pretty unexamined life, was pretty miserable, was pretty depressed, and I didn't have the tools to deal with that depression beyond just spending money and drinking too much, and not really knowing how to talk about it," Patrick said last of his departure while appearing on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast. As for why he returned, he told Entertainment Tonight in 2019 that wanted to "do one last trip around the world." 6. Sarah Silverman on Saturday Night Live Sarah Silverman starred on SNL for one season, from 1993 to 1994. Though she wasn't back for the next season, she returned to host an episode in 2014. She also participated in the show's 40th and 50th anniversaries. The latter occurred earlier this month. "I don't think I was ahead of my time. I may have been, shortly after, when I kind of realized stuff, after I had failed that experience. I think coming out of that and going back into stand-up and just going back to square one was what really took me to where I was meant to be. But that experience was so important," Sarah told GQ in January of her year on the show. 7. Nina Dobrev on The Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev starred in the first six seasons of The Vampire Diaries before announcing she'd leave the show after her six-year contract expired. She went on to guest appear in the following and final two seasons, including the series finale. "That was the plan from the get-go," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2017 of exiting after Season 6. "If anything, the fact that [leaving] terrified me drove me even more. I needed to feel that fear of 'Oh, my God, what if I never get a job again?' That just made me want to work five times as hard to make sure that didn't happen." 8. Robert Downey Jr. on Saturday Night Live Robert Downey Jr. starred for one season on SNL from 1985 to 1986. A decade later, he returned to host in 1996. "I learned so much in that year about what I wasn't. I was not somebody who was going to come up with a catchphrase. I was not somebody who was going to do impressions. I was somebody who was very ill-suited for rapid-fire sketch comedy," he said on Off Camera with Sam Jones in 2019. 9. Adam Sandler on Saturday Night Live The comedian starred on SNL from 1990 to 1995 and became known for his parody songs and characters like Opera Man. However, he was fired alongside Chris Farley and several others in a cast overhaul, telling the Hollywood Reporter in 2022 that new people at the network didn't "like" either of them. There doesn't seem to be much bad blood as Adam has returned to the show several times, including as a host in 2019. He also appeared in the show's 25th, 40th, and 50th anniversaries. In fact, during Sandler's host monologue in 2019, he directly addressed his firing live on air in a spoof song titled "I Was Fired." 10. T.R. Knight on Grey's Anatomy T.R. Knight was part of the original Grey's Anatomy cast, starring in the first five seasons alongside Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Patrick Dempsey, and Katherine Heigl. After feeling his character's storyline had hit a wall, he exited the show. This also came following headline-making workplace struggles a few seasons prior. He returned for a guest appearance in a dream sequence in Season 17. "[My husband and I] were talking about that idea of closure, and he was saying that sometimes closure's shutting a door, and sometimes it's revisiting a familiar room, and finding what brought you joy. And it just hit me," T.R. told Vanity Fair in 2020 of returning to the show. 11. Finally, Patrick Dempsey on Grey's Anatomy Patrick was also an OG Grey's star and stuck around full-time through Season 11. In 2016, he told People he left the show because "there was a cost," including long hours and a major time commitment. "It had been long enough. It was time for me to move on with other things and other interests. I probably should have moved on a couple of years earlier. I stayed a bit longer than I should have," he said. Which of these actors' exits and returns surprised you the most? And who would you add to this list? Let us know in the comments below!

Damon Wayans Jr. Talks Career & Family's Legacy: 'I Feel Like I'm A Working Actor'

Despite hailing from a comedic dynasty with father Damon Wayans — and his siblings Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Wayans, the latter with whom he co-created sketch comedy show In Living Color — Damon Wayans Jr. said he still feels he hasn't completely clinched his place in show business. The father-son duo, who are headlining CBS' new sitcom Poppa's House, sat down with People to reflect on their family legacy and various programs, including My Wife and Kids, which marked Wayans Jr.'s first TV arc (much to his chagrin at the time). More from Deadline Damon Wayans On 'SNL' Sketch That Got Him Fired: "I Snapped, I Just Did Not Care" 'Shrinking's Jessica Williams On Harrison Ford's "Really Emotional" Finale Moment: "We Were Weeping" 'Overstepping' Comedy In The Works At CBS From Lauren Ashley Smith & Damon Wayans Jr. 'He used to make us be in the scenes, he would be like, 'And you're gonna be his friend, and you're gonna be his friend,' and we were like, 'Ugh, fine, I'll go act,'' Wayans Jr. recalled of his father making him and his brother Michael Wayans cameo on the ABC comedy. Notwithstanding his son's protestations at the time, Wayans Sr. reflected on seeing a 'light' blossom in his son when he began to take to acting and noted his pride at Wayans Jr.'s spearheading of his own sitcoms, including Happy Endings (and later the short-lived Happy Together, on which Wayans Sr. guested): 'The environment, just walking in and seeing that everybody loves him, just singing his praises: the showrunner, the cast, everybody, and you go, 'OK, I did something right.'' The New Girl alum segued, saying that despite his successes in the comedic TV space, he still feels like he is working toward a place in the industry where he feels he can dictate his conditions. 'I still don't feel like I made it made it, I feel like I'm a working actor — I appreciate it, but I feel like making it, for me, is doing things completely on your own terms,' he said. 'I feel like that's the beauty of what my family did before me is that they came into the game kind of on their own terms, kind of like 'take it or leave it,' like 'this is us,' and I feel like I'm still building to that, but I do like all the things that I'm doing on my way.' Poppa's House airs on CBS Monday nights from 8:30 to 9:00 PM, ET/PT, having landed a full series order from the network back in November.
