Chandigarh: A grand celebration of the 79th Independence Day was organised by the officers and troops of the Border Security Force , saluting the national flag at the headquarters of Special Director General, Border Security Force (Western Command) Chandigarh, under the leadership of HS Dhillon, IG, Headquarters, Special DG BSF (Western Command). Firstly, the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the security of the nation were remembered. On this occasion, IG BSF (Western Command) recalled the unforgettable contribution of freedom fighters for the freedom of India and appealed to the troops to actively participate in the development of the country. Thereafter, fruits and sweets were distributed to the soldiers undergoing treatment at BSF Western Command Hospital located at Lakhnaur Campus, and they were wished good health. A Barakhana was also organised, where the IG BSF (WC) conveyed well wishes to all the border guards and their families. As per the direction of Force Headquarters BSF, in order to commemorate Independence Day, various activities and programmes such as Tiranga rakhi to the soldiers, letter writing for the soldiers, Tiranga cycle and bike rally, Tiranga foot march, selfie with national flag, etc, were organised on a large scale under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan' at BSF HQ (Western Command) Chandigarh and all the frontiers under command, ie, Kashmir, Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Rohtak: Extending special Independence Day greetings to the soldiers who protect the country's borders day and night, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday paid tributes to the unknown martyrs who died for freedom. 'This festival of independence is a festival of every person, a festival of every heart, a day of pride and glory for every Indian,' he said in his address after unfurling the national flag in Rohtak. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said, 'This time too, the whole country was painted in the colour of patriotism with Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan.' 'It is a matter of pride for all of us that the people of Haryana played a leading role in the freedom movement. The first spark of the revolution of 1857 broke out from Ambala Cantonment,' said the Chief Minister. He said ex gratia for the families of soldiers martyred in the war was increased to Rs one crore. Also, jobs were given to 410 dependents of martyrs, and a decision was taken to give 10 per cent reservation in jobs to Agniveers. 'Today, we have become the fourth-largest economic power in the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the countrymen to adopt Swadeshi. Our armies have introduced the strategic power and capability of India to the whole world with their valour and bravery," the CM said. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the goal of making India a 'developed nation' by the 100th anniversary of Independence in 2047. In the past 10 and a half years, we have freed the people of the state from the system of discrimination. Our promises of giving jobs without any expenses, online transfer, educated panchayats and Antyodaya Abhiyan are being discussed all over the country today,' he said. CM Saini said that out of the 217 resolutions taken during the Assembly elections, 41 have been fulfilled in the past 10 months. 'In the third term, the government has given jobs to 30,000 youth without any expenses. The future of the youth working under Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam has also been secured. All 24 crops of farmers are being purchased at the minimum support price (MSP). The Backward Creamy layer income limit of the class has been increased from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh,' he said. He said land has been given to Prajapati Samaj in 1,700 villages to run a pottery business. Also, 1,47,000 houses were constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide a roof over the heads of the poor. Free dialysis service was also started for kidney treatment across the state. The CM said till now 2,13,000 women have been made Lakhpati Didi in the state, and 100 women were given free drones and training under 'Drone Didi Yojana'.

He said that magistrates, police officers, and jawans will be deployed at all entry points to ensure smooth conduct, safety, and order during the celebrations. On Wednesday, the final parade rehearsal was conducted at the venue in Sector 12 in the presence of DC and SP Harvinder Singh.

A walkathon was organised by the Central Sericulture Research and Training Institute (CSRTI), Mysuru, on Tuesday as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan' in the run-up to the Independence Day. Scientists and other staff members of CSRTI, Mysuru, led by its Director P. Deepa, participated in the walkathon. The walkathon, which began from the institute premises on Manandavadi Road, went upto Vivekananda Circle before returning back to the institute.

Kanpur: The district administration has launched an open competition for citizens under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan' and requested them to decorate their houses with lights and the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day. Participants are required to take a photograph or shoot a video of their decorated house and upload it on the website In addition to the photograph or video, uploading a government ID or employee ID is mandatory. Additional district magistrate (City), Rajesh Kumar stated that the aim of this unique initiative is to spread the spirit of patriotism among the people and to illuminate the entire city with the aura of the tricolour. The ADM (City) said that the three most beautiful decorations would be awarded attractive prizes. The last date to participate in the competition is 16 August. He mentioned that this is not just an opportunity for decoration but also to showcase the love and pride for one's country. On average, 55 thousand tricolours are being prepared every day, to be distributed in the Gram Panchayats as per the instructions of the govt. These flags are being delivered to the village heads through the development block offices, ensuring that every house in the district is decorated with the tricolour between August 13–15. Under the campaign, programmes are being conducted in three phases in the district. In the first phase, debate, painting, and patriotic song competitions are being organised in schools and institutions. Tiranga Yatra, Prabhat Pheri and cultural presentations will be organised under the campaign. In the third and final phase, there is a plan to hoist the tricolour at all government and private buildings on August 15.
