BRS braces for local body polls; to hold key workers' meets soon

Hyderabad: The BRS leadership commenced preparations for the local body elections on Monday, announcing that constituency-level key workers' meetings would begin this week. BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has called for the party to expose alleged Congress failures. These meetings aim to highlight the purported deceit of the Congress government while simultaneously drawing attention to the BRS's public agitations over the past 20 months. Rama Rao instructed party leaders to centre their discussions on the Congress government's shortcomings, including alleged betrayals against farmers and various sections of society. Discussions will also address the perceived collapse of governance and sanitation in villages due to the incompetence of the Revanth Reddy-led administration. In light of court orders indicating that local body elections may be held soon, KTR instructed party cadre to prepare rigorously. District party presidents have been tasked with coordinating these meetings in every constituency. The gatherings will see participation from BRS MLAs, MLCs, MPs, ZP chairpersons, former corporation chairpersons, and senior state committee members. KTR called for widespread public awareness campaigns to highlight the Congress government's failure to fulfil promises, its alleged corrupt and undemocratic practices, and its governance lapses. He emphasised exposing the government's neglect of farmers, including the non-implementation of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, and its failure to address shortages of urea and seeds. He also criticised the government's inaction on irrigation and power supply issues affecting farmers over the past 20 months. KTR urged party workers to inform the public about the Congress government's perceived lack of sincerity in implementing the promised 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) and its deceptive tactics through ordinances. He also highlighted unfulfilled Congress promises, such as the Rs 4,000 pension for the elderly, Rs 2,500 monthly aid for women, and other commitments across various sectors. He directed party workers to remind the public of the BRS's sustained public agitations and protests against the Congress government over the past 20 months, instructing that these constituency-level meetings be organised across the state this week to effectively mobilise key workers. Meanwhile, the party's senior leader T Harish Rao addressed a meeting of workers in Gajwel, the constituency of BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao. Harish Rao stated that, according to a recent survey, the party is projected to win 16 to 18 Zilla Parishads in the State. He urged party workers to collaborate as a family, cautioning against overconfidence. 'There should be confidence but there should be no overconfidence. You have to explain to the people how Telangana was and how it turned out now,' said Harish Rao. He encouraged party leaders to expose the Congress on its failures in implementing promised schemes, including Rythu Bandhu and the Rs 2,500 for women.

Harish Rao's arguments are baseless: PCC chief

Hyderabad: The PCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud described former Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao's arguments as baseless over the issue of water sharing with AP. He said Harish Rao failed to understand the importance of Chief Minister's A Revanth Reddy meetings in Delhi and his clarification during the press briefing. In a media statement, the Congress leader said that the Union Jalshakti Minister CR Patil himself has criticised Harish Rao for misleading the people of Telangana through his irrational statements. Despite the Union Minister's update on information regarding the meeting between two Telugu states, besides CM's clarification, Mahesh Kumar Goud held that the BRS leader was trying to mislead the people over the issue. PCC president felt that Harish Rao was making meaningless statements over the matter. He felt that the BRS leaders like Harish Rao were making statements just to remain in the limelight rather than furthering the state's interests. 'I challenge former CM and BRS party president KCR to come to the assembly and participate in the discussions or we will come to the farmhouse and hold a mock assembly there,' Mahesh Goud dared. While accusing KCR of betrayal of Telangana by supporting AP, the AICC chief held that rather than acknowledging the loss to Telangana's rightful share of water, Harish Rao was shamelessly accusing Congress, CM and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy. 'If you have the courage, you and your uncle KCR should come to the debates in the assembly and put your facts straight. People will not believe you if you hold press meets and try to find faults with the government,' he added.

Harish slams Revanth over constant flip-flops

Hyderabad: BRS senior leader T Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accusing him of compromising the interests of Telangana and misleading its people. Addressing a press conference here at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said that Revanth Reddy, who leaked to the media that he would boycott a Delhi meeting if Andhra Pradesh's Banakacharla project was discussed, rushed to Delhi at midnight. What prompted this sudden trip? What secret understanding was reached in the dead of night? Earlier, Revanth Reddy declared in the Assembly that he would not attend the NITI Aayog meeting. Yet later, he did attend it. Even a chameleon would feel ashamed at his constant flip-flops, alleged Harish Rao. Pointing out that in today's press meet, Revanth falsely claimed that Banakacharla was not on the agenda. In reality, it was the first item on the agenda. While Andhra Pradesh Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu confirmed discussions on Banakacharla and the formation of a committee, Revanth denied any such discussion. Is this the level of honesty expected from a Chief Minister? Telangana's people elected Revanth Reddy to protect their interests, not to serve Andhra Pradesh or pay political 'guru dakshina' to Chandrababu Naidu. The truth is like fire; it cannot be hidden. Harish Rao demanded that Revanth apologise to the people of Telangana for misleading them. 'Revanth Reddy's fabrications amount to betrayal. He is proving himself to be a traitor to Telangana, while Uttam Kumar Reddy plays along,' he said. He accused the Congress government of running under the remote control of BJP and TDP. 'Even Congress MLAs admit that TDP agents have infiltrated their cadre. Revanth, who earlier said there was no point in a meeting on Banakacharla, has now agreed to the formation of a committee,' Harish Rao questioned. Harish Rao pointed out that the Central Water Commission, GRMB, and the Polavaram Project Authority had all rejected the pre-feasibility report for Banakacharla. 'These statutory bodies, created through Parliament, denied approvals. How then did the Centre convene this meeting? Why did Revanth agree to a committee? His actions are nothing short of signing a death warrant for Telangana,' Rao asked. He warned that as long as K Chandrashekar Rao and BRS were present, they would not tolerate any injustice to Telangana. 'Both BJP and Congress are working against the interests of Telangana,' he added. Harish Rao concluded with a demand, 'Revanth must offer an unconditional apology to the people of Telangana for today's betrayal. BRS will never accept Banakacharla under any circumstances. We demand an all-party delegation to Delhi. For us, the state's interests are paramount, not petty politics.'

Chandrashekar Rao had met six times and took decisions pertaining to the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla Barrages of the Kaleshwaram Project. Speaking after appearing before the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission of Inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the three barrages of the Kaleshwaram Project, Mr. Harish Rao said that he hand handed over additional information on the three barrages, following false news reports appearing in a section of the media. 'I have given clear and all information I have. Now that we are not in the government, all the documents are with it and I have written to the Chief Secretary, Secretaries of the General Administration and Irrigation Departments seeking the copies of Cabinet decisions taken during the BRS rule along with Cabinet notes, but there's no response', Mr. Harish Rao said and added that he had compiled all the information available with him and submitted to the Commission in the form of a note and supporting documents. He had given the details about when the Cabinet had taken up the subject for discussion, notes on the discussion and other issues to the Commission. Mr. Rao said that the approval by the Legislature would hold more ground than the decisions of the Cabinet and he had furnished the details of discussions in the Legislature too. Since the Commission was continuing its inquiry, Mr. Harish Rao said he was not in a position to reveal all the details that were submitted to the panel, and they would be revealed at an appropriate time. . 'We have suspicion that the government was giving misleading information to the Commission on the issue', the BRS leader added. On the presentation made by the government to the Cabinet, legislators, members of parliament and leaders of the ruling party the other day, Mr. Harish Rao said the presentation was made to cover up Congress's betrayal of people of Telangana for over 50 years in the combined State. He alleged that the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister were repeatedly misleading people on the ad hoc arrangement of 299:512 (Andhra Pradesh:Telangana) tmc ft sharing as the permanent one.
