Mahesh Goud dares Harish Rao for open debate on Kaleshwaram
Hyderabad: TPCC Chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud dared BRS leader Harish Rao for open debate on BRS' misrule. He reiterated that Harish Rao and BJP MP Eatala Rajender held a meeting recently, claiming he has substantial evidence to prove that. Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Goud held that Harish Rao, who was boastful of the Kaleshwaram project with a cost of Rs 1.2 lakh crore, should come for an open debate. 'Harish Rao is speaking as if all the projects in Telangana were constructed under the BRS regime. Kaleshwaram's funding has all gone down the drain and has failed even to irrigate an acre of land. With all the Rs 1.2 lakh crore, only poor quality projects were constructed, which could not withstand even three years after being built,' said Mahesh Goud. The PCC president urged Harish Rao to first clear the mess created by MLC K Kavitha before taking on the Congress government and its leaders. He ridiculed the browbeating of the former Irrigation Minister and wondered if BRS would survive to see the next Assembly polls. 'Harish Rao is claiming his party would win 100 seats. Given the scenario, it is doubtful if you can even get a B-form for yourself. You should first decide which group you will represent, as BRS is on the brink of collapse,' he wondered.

Harish pans Kavitha's rant on BJP-BRS pact
Hyderabad: Panning MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha's recent rant on 'attempts being made by some leaders in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi to have an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party', senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Monday averred that the party 'would not have any alliance with the BJP or any other party' and declared that the BRS would go solo in future elections since it was confident of coming back to power with over 100 seats. The BRS leader was addressing party leaders and workers on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan on Monday. Reaffirming BRS party's independence and scotching rumours of alliance, Harish Rao said that 'somebody' was saying the party would have alliance with BJP, though it is not true. Rao asserted that under KCR's leadership, BRS would win over 100 seats if elections were held today. Emotionally charged, BRS MLC Kavitha had alleged that some BRS leaders had tried to merge BRS with BJP and were now trying to have an alliance with the saffron party. Harish Rao warned the police and other officials that, should they harass BRS activists, their names would be noted down in the 'red book'. He warned them to be careful, as BRS government was coming. Harish Rao asked Revanth Reddy if he was conducting reviews under police command control as the Secretariat had been named after Ambedkar. He accused Reddy of financial mismanagement, including being party to a Rs 5,000-6,000 crore 'scam' in the Young India School project and prioritizing large contractors over small ones. Harish Rao challenged Revanth Reddy to produce evidence of providing loans worth Rs 21,000 crore to women from self- help groups (SHGs) and offered to resign if proven wrong. Rao criticized Reddy for prioritizing beauty pageant reviews over farmers' issues and cited the reported deaths of farmers waiting at procurement centers. Harish Rao warned that the Godavari Banakacherla link project, supported by BJP, would be harmful to Telangana's interests. He demanded that the state government must oppose it. He vowed that the BRS would approach the Supreme Court, if needed. Harish Rao dismissed BJP's contributions to Telangana, citing their failure to grant national status to projects or establish medical colleges and accused them of favouring Andhra Pradesh's Polavaram project. He accused Reddy of betraying Telangana by failing to secure the state's share in Krishna and Godavari waters. He wanted Reddy to hold Assembly debates or join BRS in Delhi protests. He wanted the BJP MPs to prove their commitment towards Telangana by stopping the Banakacherla project.

KCR Postpones Appearance Before Kaleshwaram Project Probe Panel To June 11
Hyderabad: Telangana's former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will not be appearing before the Justice PC Ghose Commission on June 5. The BRS leader has reportedly sought more time and is expected to appear before the probe panel on June 11. Two other politicians summoned by the Commission, BJP MP and former BRS minister Etala Rajender, and Mr Rao's nephew and former minister Harish Rao, have been asked to appear on June 6 and June 9. Harish Rao, who was to give a power-point presentation at Telangana Bhavan on Kaleshwaram on Monday afternoon, had postponed it. It is not yet known whether KCR's daughter, K Kavitha, will also postpone the protest planned by Telangana Jagruti on June 4 against the summoning of a "leader of KCR's stature". She has criticised the BRS party for not showing public support calling out the attempt to question the party president. The Justice PC Ghose Commission was set up in March 2024 to probe the alleged irregularities in planning, design, construction, quality control, operation and maintenance of the three barrages of the Kaleshwaram project -- Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla. The one-man commission was formed after some piers in the Medigadda Barrage caved in on October 21, 2023. The Commission, which has so far got eight extensions, is expected to submit its report on July 31. So far, it has questioned more than 100 engineers and officials. The Telangana Vigilance Commission, meanwhile, has reportedly submitted a report recommending criminal proceedings against 17 senior engineers and officials and the construction agency responsible for the Medigadda Barrage, that is part of the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation project. The report says serious lapses have been found in execution of the project, resulting in the sinking of Block number 7 of the barrage and a substantial loss of public funds. The Commission has also advised major disciplinary proceedings against 33 officials - current and former - and disciplinary proceedings against two Finance Department officials -- the District Works Accounts and Divisional Accounts Officer -- citing their involvement in financial approvals related to the barrage. The Commission has also instructed that recovery proceedings be initiated to reclaim the cost incurred for the replacement of the damaged block, and action be taken against the contractor.

Eatala Rajender is a ‘confused and opportunistic' politician: Congress MP
Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy launched a scathing attack on BJP leader and Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender, calling his political journey 'confused and opportunistic'. Addressing a press conference, he said Mr. Rajender has come out of the BRS physically although his heart and mind continues to be with the BRS. Even the BJP leaders were confused given his incoherent political stance that was revealed when notices were served to him by the Judicial Commission on the Kaleshwaram project. Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy questioned Mr. Rajender's remarks about PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, who rose through the ranks from NSUI to become the PCC president. 'Mr. Goud's journey is one of commitment while your political journey is full of flip-flops,' he said. He alleged that Mr. Rajender is a 'Reddy' inside his house but turns into a 'OBC' when he steps out of his house. Targeting BRS leader T. Harish Rao, the Congress MP rejected the allegations levelled by Mr. Rao over Miss England leaving the Miss World beauty pageant midway. 'If Mr. Harish Rao has any video evidence, he should reveal it rather than discredit the government with baseless allegations,' he added. He termed laughable Mr Harish Rao's claims that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was reviewing with officials only from the Command Control Centre as the Secretariat was named after Dr. Ambedkar. 'Revanth Reddy can review progress from anywhere, even from Mulugu forest,' he said. The Congress MP also took a dig at BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao's claims that KCR would return as the CM. 'By spending black money in the USA, your father will not return to power,' he said.

BRS not have alliance with any party, says Harish Rao
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will not have an alliance with any party and will contest the elections on its own, senior party leader and MLA T. Harish Rao announced on Monday. He exuded confidence that the BRS will come back to power in Telangana with 100 seats. In his speech at the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said: "Some people are saying that the BRS will join hands with the BJP. The BRS will not have an alliance with any party. It will come to power on its own." Harish Rao was apparently referring to BRS MLA K. Kavitha's recent claim that attempts are being made in the BRS to have an alliance with the BJP. Kavitha, who is the daughter of BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), last week said that a proposal was made to merge the BRS with the BJP when she was in jail in the Delhi liquor policy case and that she strongly opposed it. KCR, Kavitha's brother and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) or her cousin Harish Rao have not reacted to sensational allegations, which came close on the heels of her confidential letter to KCR getting leaked. Apparently targeting her brother, Kavitha also made it clear that she will work under the leadership of only KCR. Harish Rao said KCR recently made it clear that whenever elections are held, the BRS is sure to win 100 seats. The former Irrigation Minister said that the BJP leaders were not opening their mouths on the injustice to Telangana. He asked them why they were silent on the Godavari-Banakacherla link project being taken up by Andhra Pradesh. If the BJP MPs have any integrity, they should immediately block the project, he said. He also stated that BRS will approach the Supreme Court to stop the project to protect the state's interests. Only the BRS can protect the interests of Telangana, he said. Harish Rao warned the officers harassing BRS cadres that their names will be written in the 'Red Book' and they will be taught a lesson once the BRS returns to power. He reiterated that the Congress government brought shame to Telangana with its inefficiency in conducting the Miss World beauty pageant. Referring to the allegations of inappropriate behaviour during the event by Miss England, the BRS leader demanded that the CCTV footage be made public. Harish Rao remarked that while KCR was number one in development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is number one in speaking lies. Disputing the claim of the Chief Minister that women were provided interest-free loans to the tune of Rs 21,000 crore, the former minister said that if the Chief Minister proves this, he will resign.
