Form 1 students claim trial to hurting, confining classmate in school toilet
The magistrates' court in Sungai Petani, Kedah, set Sept 23 for mention of the case. PETALING JAYA : Two Form 1 students were charged in the Sungai Petani magistrates' court today with hurting and confining a classmate in their school toilet last month. The two 13-year-olds pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to them in Tamil before magistrate Azlan Basri, Berita Harian reported. The students were jointly charged with voluntarily causing hurt to the victim, also 13, in the toilet of the school's Form 6 block at about 6.40pm on July 14. In the second charge, they were jointly accused of confining the victim at the same place and time. Deputy public prosecutor Hazwani Nor proposed bail of RM4,000 each, but their lawyer, N Nagaratnam, requested a lower sum, citing their age and cooperation with the police. The court fixed bail at RM2,000 with one surety each, ordered them not to harass the victim, and set case mention for Sept 23.
