Northern Governor and WHO Representative Discuss Health Initiatives in Bahrain
Manama: Ali bin Abdul Hussain Al Asfoor, Northern Governor, received Dr. Asad Hafeez, Acting Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Governor commended the cooperation with WHO through the Healthy Cities Programme. He highlighted the successful accreditation of A'ali as a healthy city and underscored the Governorate's efforts to designate the Northern Governorate as a healthy governorate, in line with the principle of 'Health for All by All.' According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting reviewed the Governorate's key health initiatives, including nine editions of the 'Biggest Loser' competition to combat obesity and smoking, mosquito control campaigns across the Governorate, and the observance of global health events to promote preventive health and raise public awareness. The two sides also discussed ways to activate community partnerships in health and awareness sectors to support Bahrain's health vision and future aspirations. Dr. Hafeez commended the Governorate's efforts in supporting health initiatives. He expressed readiness to highlight the Northern Governorate's health programmes through international, regional, and local platforms, emphasising WHO's commitment to ongoing cooperation in support of sustainable development goals and enhanced community health in Bahrain.

Northern Governor Ali bin Al Shaikh Abdulhussain Al Asfoor, highlighted that Bahraini Youth Day celebrates the vital role of youth in the nation's development, under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He emphasised that youth are the true wealth of society, and investing in them ensures a sustainable future. This occurred at a Northern Governorate celebration, attended by Deputy Northern Governor Brigadier Abdullah Ali Rashid Maanter, to recognise young individuals who have contributed to various events and initiatives, notably the Healthy Cities Programme, alongside other youth members of the Governorate.

NPRA Undersecretary Receives Capital Governor
Manama: Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Ministry of Interior Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence (NPRA), received Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Capital Governor. The meeting marked the celebration of the Capital Governorate's achievement in receiving the accreditation certificate from the World Health Organization as the first 'Healthy Governorate' in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. According to Bahrain News Agency, the undersecretary commended this significant national milestone, describing it as a pivotal step towards advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. He emphasised the initiative's role in enhancing the quality of life by promoting healthy practices, improving essential services, and fostering community partnerships. Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman noted that this achievement reflects the dedication of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the unwavering support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The undersecretary highlighted that the accomplishment builds on a successful trajectory initiated with the launch of the Healthy Cities Programme in 2017. The programme first recognised the Um Al Hasam area as a Healthy City in 2018, followed by Manama, which became the first Healthy City in the region in 2021. This progress extended to include all villages and cities within the governorate, culminating in the Capital Governorate being declared the first Healthy Governorate.
