Rangers told why their UCL dream will end vs Club Brugge

Hein Vanhaezebrouck thinks the Belgian team can win the £40 million play-off, but only if they stay strong when they face Rangers at Ibrox. The first leg of the match will be played in Glasgow, with the second leg in Belgium. Club Brugge have been given permission to postpone their league game with Westerlo, which falls between the two legs, so they can focus on playing against Russell Martin's team. Read more: Vanhaezebrouck, who has also managed Belgian teams Gent and Genk, said: "Rangers will be a tough task for Club Brugge, but it's definitely achievable for them. "It's vital for Club Brugge to just stay alive in Glasgow and keep the tie close. "And then I can see them finishing Rangers off at home and progressing to the league stages." He also noted the importance of Club Brugge maintaining their full squad for both matches. He said: "There are some players at Club Brugge who are irreplaceable and it would be a real problem if any of them missed out."

Rangers potential Champions League rivals Club Brugge given damning verdict by Belgian expert

Club Brugge are a shadow of their former selves according to a top Belgian manager as they prepare for a potential Champions League play-off against Rangers. The Ibrox side were drawn against either the Belgian side or RB Salzburg if they complete the job next week against Viktoria Plzen after a comfortable 3-0 first leg home lead. The Belgian side have a big advantage after winning the first leg 1-0 in Austria, but former Anderlecht, Gent and Genk manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck is far from impressed with Club Brugge this season so far. READ MORE: I'm going to tell you exactly what I think about Russell Martin and his Rangers rant – Barry Ferguson READ MORE: Barry Ferguson reveals the Rangers mole has been leaking team news for months He said: "With last season's team, Club Brugge would have won 3-0 or 4-0 in Salzburg. They need to bring in new players urgently. "They allowed Salzburg to have eight attempts at their goal in the first 15 minutes alone. That's far too many and a warning. A more clinical side would have taken some of those chances. "They must bring in defensive recruitments, especially. I certainly don't think the tie is over either. Salzburg are a young team with enormous drive and are very dangerous in the counter-attack."
