Matildas star Katrina Gorry and her wife-to-be take on a new sporting challenge just days before their wedding
Matildas superstar Katrina Gorry and Clara Markstedt are set to get married in just 10 days' time and ahead of their big day, the footballers have both taken up a new sporting challenge. The couple swapped their footy boots out for their running trainers to complete the Brisbane Half Marathon last Sunday. Gorry, 32, lifted the lid on what it was like to compete in the event with her partner, Markstedt, 35, admitting she hadn't participated in many running events previously. 'My experience was absolutely incredible,' the Australian star said to Brisbane Half Marathon's organisers. 'It's probably up there with one of the coolest things we've done. 'We're both footballers and hadn't done much running training beforehand, but running alongside so many people was honestly exhilarating. The West Ham United star revealed the exciting news in May that she and her Sweedish partner, Markstedt, would be getting wed on June 15. Gorry and Markstedt took to Instagram to share several posts from their hen party last month. The pair looked smitten as they donned colourful wigs and sashes that read: 'Bride to be'. The Australian, who has been capped 114 times by the Matildas, captioned the post: 'The perfect Hux. 20 days until I get to call you my wife.' The pair revealed they got engaged ahead of the 2023 Women's World Cup, with Markstedt dropping to one knee to pop the question. The Sweedish forward enjoyed a glittering career which spanned for 13 years. She began her career with Stockholm-based side AIK, but would spend the majority of her career with Vittsjo GK, ultimately hanging up her boots in 2023. Speaking to ABC Radio Canberra this week, Gorry (pictured, left with Markstedt) spoke about the launch of her new book and hailed her mum for all the sacrifices she had made over the years helping her with her daughter and her footballing career Gorry and Marskstedt announced the birth of their son Koby in 2024, with their daughter Harper becoming a big sister. Earlier this week, Gorry, spoke out on the Matildas victory against Argentina on Monday. 'Super proud of the girls and I think a 4-1 win is always good for us,' she told ABC Radio Canberra. 'For Amy [Sayer] to come on and score two goals after such a long time out of the game is a pretty special night for us to celebrate.' Gorry, who has also released a new book, entitled 'Katrina Gorry: A Matildas Hero's Story of Footbal l, Motherhood and Breaking Down Barriers', paid tribute to her mum during the interview. 'I think writing the book it was a really nice way to reflect on the journey that I have had and also the sacrifices my family have made. 'Definitely my mum. I couldn't have done the last few years without her. To say: "Yes I'll come with you wherever you need to go to help with Harper."

The podcast anchor donned a pink vest and told her followers: "I can't believe that I'm packing my bridesmaid's bags. "I am such an emotional wreck at the moment, I'm going to be a cry-y bride and I really don't want to be, but I feel like I'm going to be." She added: "But I've packed all their essentials, I've got slippers and flip flops for the evening, some cute little earrings, mirrors. "I feel like I've been really good with the organisation side of things of what they would need, so we are on the ball with it." The DIY SOS star, 62, cut a dapper figure as he donned a brown tweed suit paired with a pale pink shirt for the occasion. Nick teamed his smart look with brown brogues, while he carried a large umbrella should the weather take a turn for the worst. Meanwhile, Katie, 34, oozed glamour in a floral embellished coat very fitting for the event. Her long, white coat featured a red floral motif throughout complete with red piping, with the stunner accessorising her eye-catching look with tan wedges and a matching handbag. The couple looked as loved up as ever as they held hands and gazed at each other as they strolled among the crowds. The pair's appearance comes after Katie headed to London's West End with pals as she celebrated her hen party last week. The lingerie brand boss and the TV star began dating in 2021 after they met when their children became friends at a play centre before getting engaged in 2023. And Katie kicked off the wedding celebrations at luxury boutique hotel Karma Sanctum as she was joined by close friends Kirsty Shaw-Rayner and Sherene Fuller. The group arrived on a beer bus and then headed through party district Soho wearing Nick Knowles face masks, much to the amusement of Katie, ahead of partying at Karma Sanctum. Katie was later entertained by two buff men dressed as a fireman and policeman as the party carried on into the early hours. Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, about the 'gold digger' jibes, Katie admitted they don't get to her as much as they used to because she and Nick know its not true. Katie continued: 'We're both really comfortable with where we are with that and you will always get it because there's an age gap. 'I know plenty of people who are together and the same age where someone's using the other one for money and they're not happy. 'So as long as I know it's not true and he knows it's not true, I think that's, that's pretty much all that matters.' Nick has an estimated £7.5 million net worth but Katie has built up an impressive lingerie brand, having launched Boa Boa in 2022.
