Bengal closer to Hep B elimination, says study

Kolkata: A state-level study in 2024 showed the prevalence of Hepatitis B in children under 5 in Bengal was 0.07%, against the 0.1% target set by WHO, indicating that it is inching closer to Hepatitis B elimination. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now While this has been achieved, health officials on World Hepatitis Day on Monday said the state is looking at meeting other benchmarks that will aid in eliminating Hepatitis by 2030. Over the past few years, the state health department took up several measures for early intervention. These include screening pregnant mothers, administering the Hepatitis B vaccine at birth to newborns, and providing immunoglobulin to babies born to a mother who is a carrier of the virus. Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver, causing damage to the organ. On Sunday, the state director of services, Swapan Saren, presented the current hepatitis scenario in the state, the intervention measures, the improvement, and suggested the way forward to achieve the elimination of the disease by 2030. "With the prevalence of 0.07% among children below five, we have touched one of the benchmarks of control of vertical transmission set by WHO. The state is close to vertical transmission elimination indicators of Hep B. We will be working on meeting other criteria," said public health specialist Pallav Bhattacharya, former state programme officer for the National Viral Hepatitis Programme. According to officials, Bengal so far is the only state to have come out with such data. The national estimate of Hepatitis B prevalence in children below five is pegged at 1.14%. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Health experts said that the chances of a Hepatitis B positive mother transmitting the virus to the newborn are as high as 90%. "At present, all pregnant women attending govt health facilities are screened for hepatitis so we can prevent mother-to-child transmission by administering the vaccine and immunoglobulin for Hepatitis B. We are taking up various other measures to improve our achievement," said Saren. In fact, Bengal is the first and perhaps the only state to start the project on the triple elimination of Hepatitis, syphilis, and HIV. On Monday, the Liver Foundation West Bengal, took to the digital platform to reach out to students of 23 schools in Bengal to raise awareness of viral Hepatitis.

Cork man sprayed liquid from syringe into garda's face during attempted rescue

A garda trying to save a man from self-harming or taking his own life forced his way into a bathroom but was sprayed in the face and eyes with brown/red liquid from a syringe and now the culprit has been jailed for 18 months. 'This was an assault using a syringe. The guard was only there to assist you and to stop you from taking your own life. Gardaí are entitled to go about their duties without risk of serious illness and assault,' Judge Helen Boyle said at Cork Circuit Criminal Court. A prison sentence of two and a half years with the last 12 months suspended was imposed on Trevor Murphy, aged 37. The incident occurred on February 8, 2024, when gardaí responded to a report of a man threatening self-harm at an apartment at Millerd Square, Millerd St, Cork, where Trevor Murphy was residing at the time. On arrival Gardaí were admitted by family members who said he had locked himself into the bathroom. He had heroin and needles and was threatening suicide. He said he would assault gardaí if given an opportunity. Members of the garda armed support unit had to force their way into the bathroom where the accused said: 'What the fuck do ye want?' And he brandished a syringe and needle with a brown/red liquid, and sprayed the contents across the face and into the eyes of one of the guards as he violently resisted arrest. The officer was later blood-tested and was negative for HIV, Hep B and Hep C. Judge Helen Boyle said: 'Your drug use exacerbates your mental health difficulties. I am satisfied you have done your best to stay away from drugs and to mind your mental health since this. You have made great efforts to recover from alcohol and drug use.' The judge added that the signed plea spared witnesses and saved the state the time and expense of a trial. Imposing a total sentence of two and a half years, Judge Boyle suspended the final year of the sentence.

RFK Jr.'s new CDC advisers to study childhood vaccination schedule, guidelines for hepatitis B, measles shots

Vaccines Children's health Federal agenciesFacebookTweetLink Follow At the first meeting of a controversial new group of vaccine advisers to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the committee announced new plans to study established vaccine guidelines. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will create new work groups to study the cumulative effects of the childhood and adolescent vaccine schedules, the hepatitis B vaccine dose given at birth and the combination measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox vaccine, new chair Dr. Martin Kulldorff announced at Wednesday's meeting in Atlanta. It was the first time the new group of seven outside CDC vaccine advisers has convened since US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dismissed the previous panel of 17 experts this month, claiming that they had conflicts of interest. He appointed a new group of eight members two days later; one withdrew during the financial holdings review, leaving seven to review the nation's vaccine recommendations. Public health experts were concerned about both the unprecedented dismissal of the previous committee and the background and positions of some of the new advisers; two have served as expert witnesses against vaccines in trials, and another has suggested, against evidence, that Covid-19 vaccines contributed to the deaths of young people and should be removed from the market. Kennedy, who helmed the anti-vaccine group Children's Health Defense before becoming HHS secretary, has suggested that childhood vaccines have been inadequately studied, something pediatricians and infectious disease experts say is not the case. Kulldorff said the new work group on the childhood and adolescent vaccine schedules will review 'interaction effects between different vaccines, cumulative amounts of vaccine ingredients and the relative timing of different vaccines.' Each time a vaccine is added to the schedule, its interaction with other vaccines is reviewed, said Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine scientist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a member of an outside vaccine advisory panel to the US Food and Drug Administration. 'You have to prove that your vaccine doesn't interfere with the safety or immunogenicity profile of existing vaccines and vice versa,' he told CNN on Wednesday. Offit said the plans from the new committee are 'just a purely anti-vaccine agenda springing to life in public policy.' A second new work group will look at vaccines that haven't been reviewed in more than seven years, Kulldorff said, including whether the hepatitis B vaccine should be universally recommended for newborns. 'Unless the mother is hepatitis B-positive, an argument could be made to delay the vaccine for this infection, which is primarily spread by sexual activity and intravenous drug use,' Kulldorff said. The CDC says that 'universal HepB vaccination of all infants beginning at birth provides a critical safeguard and prevents infection among infants born to [hepatitis B]-positive mothers not identified prenatally.' 'Scientific evidence overwhelmingly supports the safety of hepatitis B vaccines,' the agency says. The American Academy of Pediatrics said on social media on Wednesday that 'Hepatitis B can be passed from parent to baby at birth - and when that happens, the consequences can be deadly. It is unscientific and dangerous to ignore the success of US vaccination programs or argue that the US should not vaccinate babies for hepatitis B at birth.' When the universal birth dose recommendation was temporarily suspended in 1999, some confusion ensued, and about 10% of hospitals suspended all birth doses regardless of infants' degree of risk, Offit wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007. 'One 3-month-old child born to a Michigan mother infected with hepatitis B virus died of overwhelming infection,' he said. A third new work group will look at vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox, or varicella, Kulldorff said, noting that 'vaccines are important for combating measles for the first dose at age 12 to 15 months.' The vaccine is available as a combination of all four, or as two shots with the one protecting against varicella given separately. There is a well-understood higher risk of febrile seizures when the four-vaccine combination is given to children between ages 1 and 2; giving the varicella vaccine separately from the MMR vaccine avoids this increased risk, which the CDC points out is 'very low for both options.' Kulldorff said that the committee may reevaluate the combination vaccine recommendation for 1-year-olds and that the working group may look at the optimal timing of the vaccine and potential alternatives, such as one used in Japan. Measles vaccination rates have been declining in the US, and more than 1,200 cases have been reported this year, among the most since the disease was declared eliminated in the US in the year 2000. Two school-age children have died in an outbreak centered in West Texas, and one adult died in New Mexico. All were unvaccinated. The ACIP's recommendations historically have held significant sway; they influence both insurance coverage and state policies around vaccination.

Rogan & Rodgers Unleash Big Pharma's Worst Nightmare...

When Joe Rogan sat down with Aaron Rodgers, the conversation quickly turned to one of the most polarizing topics in modern medicine: instead of retreading old ground, they zeroed in on one of the most overlooked—and deeply disturbing—double standards of the pandemic. Rogan opened the door with a brutally simple observation. 'You're not even supposed to eat sushi while you're breastfeeding,' he said. 'Because you could get some sort of a parasite. And yet, you're going to take pregnant women and dose them up with this experimental vaccine.' He didn't stop there. 'There was no studies on whether or not women were getting damaged by this.' Rodgers chimed in to confirm what many already suspected: 'No studies got released.' That silence, wasn't due to a lack of data—but a refusal to release it. And now, as Rogan pointed out, the consequences are finally starting to come into view. 'Now there's some study that it's destroying their eggs.' Rodgers added, 'That, the cancers, turbo cancers, people dropping, kids dropping.' Rogan let it sit for a beat before saying what many are thinking: 'Yeah, it's all very dark, dude.' They quickly shifted to the broader vaccine schedule for children—and what they see as a runaway system with no brakes and no accountability. Today, American kids receive 72 doses of 17 vaccines between birth and age 18. Just to enroll in kindergarten, they're hit with 29 doses of 9 different vaccines. Daycare kids face multiple rounds of 13. And few parents even realize this. Rogan questioned the logic behind that kind of medical regimen, especially when it comes to the very first days of life. 'Why would you give a baby a Hep B shot on DAY ONE for a sexually transmitted disease? Totally unnecessary and crazy.' He also took aim at the fear-driven messaging around diseases like tetanus. 'Tetanus is not dangerous. If you have an open wound with tetanus, you just wash it out and you won't get tetanus. The number of cases? ZERO.' Rodgers, echoing a frustration felt by many parents, said the entire system has moved far from informed consent—and deep into financial conflicts of interest. Doctors aren't just recommending vaccines, he argued—they're being paid to. Behind it all, they pointed to a turning point in 1986, when the federal government passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act. That legislation gave vaccine manufacturers blanket immunity from lawsuits, effectively removing the last guardrail. Since then, chronic illness among children has skyrocketed. Coincidence? They don't think so. But it was what came next that was truly disturbing. This was a bombshell and there is no denying it anymore. Rogan brought up a recent study he had just sent to his producer, Jamie. The analysis drew from adjusted VAERS data, MIT research, and findings from the Florida Department of Health—and the numbers were staggering. 'I just sent Jamie this study. VAERS adjusted data, and other derived from the MIT, Florida Department of Health study findings that yield a conservative range of 470,000 to 600,000 American deaths from the Covid-19 mRNA shots.' Rodgers, almost in disbelief, responded, 'That's it?' Rogan nodded. 'Well, just that alone. That's a lot of people, man.' And then he dropped a jaw-dropping comparison: 'More than World War I, World War II and Vietnam combined.' He clarified that the estimate referred to Pfizer alone—not even counting Moderna. 'Pfizer alone likely killed over 470,000 Americans.' 'They found a 36% increase in all cause mortality among Pfizer recipients versus Moderna.' Rodgers, deadpan and sarcastic, delivered the line that said it all: 'Yeah, but they saved MILLIONS!' They wrapped the conversation taking aim at the narrative itself—the one that turned vaccine skeptics into public enemies. Not because they were wrong. Because they were inconvenient. Rogan called it out. 'You start talking to them about the possibilities that these things caused all these problems, and their eyes glaze over.' 'They're like, Oh! Where are you hearing this?' His response flipped the script: 'Where are you hearing that it's not the case?' 'And why are you so confident to say that this is what happened?' Then he questioned the sacred cow of COVID rhetoric: ''The Covid vaccine saved millions of lives.' How do you know that?' But when it comes to the damage? 'How many do you think got fucked up by it? I know a lot of people that got fucked up by it—and most people do too. They just don't want to admit it.' Rodgers hit back at the fear machine: 'Why were they trying so hard to scare the shit out of everybody? Tell me that.' 'Why did they have fucking death tolls on the news stations?' Then he followed the money. 'There's a ton of money.' 'Doctors get huge bonuses for fully vaccinated kids. That's the truth.' And finally, he hit the core issue: 'Instead of attacking the person that says that, isn't it something you should look into?' 'Is that a conflict of interest? Should be.'
