Hailing from the small village of Chand Ka Pura in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, Himani Tomar has been commissioned as a lieutenant in the Indian Army. Her brother, Vikas Tomar, serves as a Lance Naik in the Indian Army. Now, she joins the ranks not by chance, but by choice. While it is common to see sons follow their fathers into military service, it is far rarer and arguably more inspiring to see daughters break into this traditionally male-dominated field and flourish. Himani's academic journey began at Shanti Niketan School in Ambah, followed by her schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jaura. Despite coming from a rural background, she consistently outshone expectations and proved that geography is no barrier when ambition is rooted deep. Her dedication took her to the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, where she completed her nursing graduation. Her rigorous training, both academic and physical, came to fruition as she marched proudly during her Passing Out Parade at Captain Devashish Kirti Chakra Parade Ground, where she was officially commissioned as a Nursing Officer in the Indian Army. A Proud Day for Chambal In addition to personal triumph, her achievement is a proud moment for the entire Chambal region. Himani's success sends a message to every girl from rural India that no dream is too big and no goal too distant if you have the courage to chase it. The commissioning ceremony was graced by AFMC Director and Commandant Lieutenant General Pankaj P. Rao along with Brigadier Vandana Agnihotri and other senior military dignitaries. Rohtak: Police have filed a detailed charge sheet in the murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal, alleging that a man she met on Facebook strangled her after a dispute over Rs 30,000, then dumped her body in a suitcase near a bus stand. The accused, 30-year-old mobile repair technician Sachin from Kherpur village, allegedly killed Himani on Feb 28 at her Rohtak home, pawned her jewellery for Rs 1.87 lakh, and attempted to cover his tracks by impersonating her online, police have claimed. Himani, a prominent face in the Congress party's youth campaigns and a participant in Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, reportedly met Sachin nearly a year ago through social media. Their friendship soured when she allegedly asked him for Rs 30,000, a demand he refused. It's written in the charge sheet that Sachin visited Himani's home in Vijay Nagar on the night of Feb 27 and stayed overnight. A heated argument the next evening escalated into violence, with Sachin allegedly strangling her in a fit of rage. CCTV footage captured him dragging the suitcase through the area. The next day, Sachin allegedly used Himani's mobile phone to send text messages to her mother and updated her WhatsApp status in an attempt to delay suspicion. When arrested, he was in possession of her two Apple mobile phones, both of which had been wiped. Those have since been sent to the forensic science laboratory for data recovery. Call detail records show Himani's phone location was aligned consistently with Sachin's before and after her death, further cementing the timeline. Himani's family had suffered previous tragedies already. Her elder brother was murdered 14 years ago, and her father died by suicide a decade later. Her mother had relocated to Delhi with Himani and her younger brother, Jatin, after those incidents. The accused, who has two children and shops in Kanonda and Delhi's Nangloi, was reportedly living apart from his parents despite being their only son.

BENGALURU: Microsoft on Thursday announced that Himani Agrawal has been elevated as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Microsoft India & South Asia. It also announced that Nitin Mittal joins as the Industry Leader, Digital Natives, India & South Asia, and Aparna Kondaboina takes up the role of Head - Human Resources, Microsoft Customers and Partners Solutions (MCAPS), India and South Asia. These appointments come at a critical time in Microsoft's 50-year history, India's AI journey and the company's role in putting AI in the hands of everyone, Microsoft said in a release. With over 24 years of experience, Nitin brings a track record of building digital platforms across sectors including finance, retail, e-commerce, and media. He has held leadership roles at Zee Entertainment, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), and was the founder of SOLV, a B2B platform for SMEs. Himani will be responsible for driving revenue growth by aligning business goals across the organisation, focusing on strategic innovation, business simplification and overall operations for the company in the region. Himani has held various leadership roles in the organisation – the most recent one being Chief Partner Officer in the country.
