Gautam Gambhir fights with Oval pitch curator, has heated spat before 5th Test: 'You don't tell me what to do'

The fifth and final Test between India and England is around the corner. Shubman Gill's team has a chance of levelling the five-match series after walking away with a memorable draw at Manchester. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy decider is just two sleeps away, but ahead of the marquee contest, sparks flew on Tuesday afternoon after India head coach Gautam Gambhir was involved in a heated spat with the chief pitch curator, Lee Fortis. Gautam Gambhir arguing with Oval pitch curator As confirmed by Hindustan Times' reporter at the venue, there was a lot of finger-pointing from Gambhir after the former India opening batter got really upset over something. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak also jumped in as he, too, had an animated chat with Fortis. Gambhir was even heard telling the curator, 'You don't tell us what we need to do. You can't tell any one of us what we need to do. You are just a groundsman, stay like a groundsman.' At this stage, it is not known what the issue was, but something definitely rubbed Gambhir the wrong way, after which he did not take a backward step. Fortis was then also seen having a lengthy discussion with Kotak, possibly explaining his stance. At first, the pitch curator walked away from Gambhir to speak with Kotak. However, the Indian head coach did not shy away from voicing his opinion and pointed fingers to give Fortis a piece of his mind. Finally, Fortis and Gambhir went their own ways, with the India coach returning to overseeing the training session. Also Read: Oval ground staff threatens to file a complaint against Gambhir; he fires back: 'Go report to whoever you want' Sai Sudharsan, who registered a duck in the second innings of the Manchester Test, was the first one to arrive at the venue for the practice. Fortis was also then seen observing India's practice session from close quarters. Tempers flare in the series There has been an outpouring of emotion in the ongoing series. It all started in the Lord's Test when Shubman Gill did not take kindly to England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett arriving '90 seconds late' at the crease for their second innings. Gill let it rip at the England players, asking them to "grow some f****** b****." In the Manchester Test, it was Ben Stokes and England's turn to lose their collective cool. The hosts offered Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar to call the game off early, as only a draw emerged as the one possible result. Jadeja and Sundar refused the call as they both were nearing their tons. This led to Stokes and England losing their cool and saying some nasty things on the field. Harry Brook bowled some loose deliveries as Jadeja and Sundar brought up their respective centuries. The game eventually ended in a draw, but there was definitely some bad blood between the two teams.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection day 2: Pawan Kalyan's film sees a massive drop but surpasses ₹50 crore mark

Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection Day 2: Despite securing one of the highest openings of his career, Pawan Kalyan's film failed to attract audiences on its second day, resulting in a steep decline in box office collections. However, despite the drop, the film has crossed the ₹50 crore mark. Pawan Kalyan's still from Hari Hara Veera Mallu. Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office report According to Sacnilk, Pawan Kalyan's film collected ₹34.75 crore on its opening day. The film received a lukewarm response from both critics and audiences, which has undoubtedly impacted its box office performance. As per the trade tracking site, the film witnessed a significant drop and earned only ₹7.77 crore on Day 2. Nevertheless, the film has managed to take its total collection to ₹55.27 crore. On Friday, Hari Hara Veera Mallu recorded an overall Telugu occupancy rate of 21.71%, with 17.75% for morning shows, 20.17% in the afternoon, and 27.21% in the evening. Even Ram Charan's Game Changer had a massive opening, earning ₹51 crore on Day 1, but saw a drop of over 57% on Day 2, collecting only ₹21.6 crore. The film eventually turned out to be a box office bomb. It remains to be seen whether Pawan Kalyan's film will be able to draw audiences over the weekend. The film has also faced boycott calls on social media. During a success meet in Hyderabad, Pawan addressed the issue and encouraged his fans to remain strong. He said, 'I specifically want to tell something to my fans. Meeru antha sunnitham ga undakandi ayya (Don't be so sensitive). Why are you all feeling down because someone has said something? I am the one being beaten down; you enjoy life, feel free. Don't feel bad for every comment on social media. Dhammunte tirigi kottandi, etla daadi cheyyalo cheyyandi (If you have the guts, hit back). Chew out all the negative aspects.' About Hari Hara Veera Mallu The Telugu-language period action-adventure film is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and A. M. Jyothi Krishna, from a screenplay by Jagarlamudi and Sai Madhav Burra. The film stars Pawan Kalyan in the titular role, alongside Bobby Deol and Nidhhi Agerwal in key roles. It tells the story of an outlaw named Veera Mallu, who comes face-to-face with Aurangzeb in his quest for the Koh-i-Noor. An excerpt from Hindustan Times' review of the film reads: "HHVM has been in production for over half a decade, and while the makers had their own mountains to climb, the film just feels like a wasted opportunity. Where Laxman Utekar's Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava succeeds in making you root for the resistance against Aurangzeb's tyranny, this film meanders while pretending to have a purpose for it all. Does HHVM have moments where you see the potential? Sure. But a story like this needed a deft hand, which it lacks."

Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection day 1: Pawan Kalyan film fails to beat Game Changer opening day haul

Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection day 1: Krish and Jyothi Krisna's Pawan Kalyan-starrer Hari Hara Veera Mallu hit screens on Thursday with paid premieres held on Wednesday evening. According to Sacnilk, the historical epic has collected ₹44.20 crore net in India on its opening day. Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection day 1: Pawan Kalyan and Bobby Deol play the leads in the film. Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection As per the trade website, HHVM brought in ₹12.7 crore net in India from its premiere and ₹31.5 crore on its opening day. This is one of Pawan's highest-grossing openings yet, as compared to his recent releases. For context, Bro made ₹30.5 crore net on day 1, while Bheemla Nayak made ₹37.15 crore. Vakeel Saab had brought in ₹40.10 crore net on its opening day. Compared to other big releases this year, HHVM did not manage to hold up to the record that was set by his nephew Ram Charan's film Game Changer. The film collected ₹51 crore on its opening day. Meanwhile, it fares better than Balakrishna's Daaku Maharaaj, which brought in ₹25.35 crore on day 1. Venkatesh's Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which holds the top spot as the highest-earning Telugu film of 2025, made ₹23 crore, while Dhanush's Kuberaa brought in ₹14.75 crore. About Hari Hara Veera Mallu Unlike his other films, Pawan took part in the promotions of HHVM, as it was in production for five long years due to COVID-19 and his political commitments. AM Rathnam produced the film with music by MM Keeravaani. Pawan plays an outlaw named Veera Mallu in the film, Nidhhi Agerwal plays a Devadasi named Panchami, and Bobby Deol plays Aurangzeb. HHVM was released to high expectations and lukewarm reviews. The film has been criticised for its shoddy storyline and VFX. It ends by setting up the story for a sequel. Hindustan Times' review of the film reads, 'HHVM had the potential to be a fun story about an outlaw who's street smart but can be hoodwinked given the right circumstances. It might also work as the story of a larger-than-life saviour who is looking out for the country's goodwill. Instead, what you get is a mishmash of both that gets tiring as the film progresses.'

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Aamir Khan film shows massive 92% jump on second Saturday, crosses ₹100 crore

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Despite facing competition from new releases like Kajol's Maa and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par witnessed a significant jump in its day 9 box office collection and has now crossed the ₹ 100 crore mark, according to Sacnilk. Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par crosses ₹ 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. The trade tracking site reported that Aamir's film saw a jump of 92% on its second Saturday, collecting ₹ 12.75 crore at the box office, up from ₹ 6.65 crore on Friday. The total collection of the film now stands at ₹ 108 crore. This week saw two new releases — Kajol's Maa, which earned ₹ 6.2 crore on day 2, and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, which collected ₹ 7 crore, both less than what Sitaare Zameen Par managed. Sitaare Zameen Par has grossed approximately ₹ 165 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk, making it the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year. It is expected to cross Salman Khan's Sikandar ( ₹ 185 crore gross) in the next couple of days to become the fourth biggest grosser of the year among Hindi films. About Sitaare Zameen Par Helmed by RS Prasanna, the film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film stars Aamir as a basketball coach who trains a team of specially-abled children as punishment for a drink-and-drive case. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film also stars Genelia D'Souza in the lead role alongside 10 debutants, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar — all of whom are specially-abled. An excerpt from Hindustan Times' review of Sitaare Zameen Par reads, "The first half is slow and tests your patience. Aamir being angry with his new role, getting to know his special team, then struggling in his marriage with Sunita (Genelia Deshmukh) — there's a lot that eats up screen time and feels like lazy writing. There's the occasional laugh, pretty much what one saw in the trailer. The intermission point too isn't on a high. You settle into your seats after this, ready for a yawn-fest. But this is exactly when Sitaare Zameen Par miraculously finds its groove."
