NACSA Finalising Malaysia's Cybersecurity Strategy 2025-2030 -- Digital Ministry
NACSA Finalising Malaysia's Cybersecurity Strategy 2025-2030 -- Digital Ministry KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- The National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) is finalising Malaysia's Cyber Security Strategy (MCSS) 2025–2030 as a continuation of the MCSS 2020–2024, said the Ministry of Digital. The ministry said the MCSS will involve three key stakeholders: the government, businesses and the community. 'It also takes into account emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and all related cybersecurity threats to ensure comprehensive protection of the country's digital ecosystem,' it posted on the Parliament's website. The Digital Ministry was responding to Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (BN-Sembrong) on national data security and sovereignty concerns regarding transparency in the training of artificial intelligence (AI) systems such as DeepSeek and the use of Huawei chips. The ministry added that it is also taking proactive steps to establish an AI security committee to review technical aspects and ensure compliance with security and ethical standards, including assessments of foreign technology. 'This committee will consist of experts from various fields in both the public and private sectors to strengthen governance and ensure that the development and use of AI in Malaysia remain safe, responsible, and aligned with national principles,' it said. Meanwhile, responding to a question from Muhammad Ismi Mat Taib (PN-Parit) regarding the progress of 5G coverage, the Ministry of Digital said that Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) has developed the 5G network to reach 82.4 per cent coverage in populated areas (COPA), with a total of 7,489 5G sites as of June 30, 2025. Additionally, the ministry said the country's 5G penetration rate reached 80.4 per cent, with approximately 27.4 million active subscribers as of May 2025, further solidifying the country's position as a regional leader in digital connectivity and communication technology transformation. -- BERNAMA

I'll think about it, says KJ after Akmal offers to help with Umno return
Khairy Jamaluddin (left) said he will consider Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh's offer to help facilitate his return to Umno. KUALA LUMPUR : Khairy Jamaluddin has responded coolly to Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh's offer to help facilitate his return to the party. 'That's very nice of him,' he said briefly to reporters when met at a product launch event today. 'I'm thankful for his comments and support, and I'll certainly consider it.' Yesterday, Akmal said he was open to facilitating the return of suspended and sacked Umno leaders such as Khairy, Hishammuddin Hussein and Shahril Hamdan. 'Those who were disciplined had contributed in ways we cannot forget. That's why I say unity in Umno is crucial, and that unity cannot come from just one side,' he was quoted as saying. Akmal also said those who had been suspended or sacked must set aside their egos if they truly cared about the party. Khairy, himself a former Umno Youth chief and ex-Rembau MP and health minister, was sacked from Umno in January 2023 over alleged disciplinary breaches. The Sembrong Umno division has also passed a resolution urging the party leadership to lift the suspension of Hishammuddin. However, the former Umno vice-president has hinted that he will not appeal his suspension as he had not been officially informed of his wrongdoing.

‘Very nice of him': Khairy non-committal on Umno return despite Dr Akmal's olive branch to suspended leaders
KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — Khairy Jamaluddin has reportedly responded to Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh's recent offer to assist his return to the party. Free Malaysia Today reported that the former Umno leader acknowledged the gesture but remained non-committal about rejoining. 'That's very nice of him,' he reportedly said. 'I'm thankful for his comments and support, and I'll certainly consider it.' Yesterday, Dr Akmal reportedly said he was ready to act as a bridge to bring back suspended leaders Khairy Jamaluddin, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Shahril Hamdan into the party. He said his only goal was to ensure Umno remained strong as a family. Dr Akmal also urged suspended or sacked former Umno leaders to set aside their egos if they still care for the party. He also said that Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had expressed his willingness to accept appeal letters from those affected by disciplinary actions. In January 2023, Umno announced that former Youth chief Khairy was sacked from the party along with former Selangor chapter chief Tan Sri Noh Omar, citing breaches of party discipline. In addition, former vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and former information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan were suspended for six years, along with Datuk Maulizan Bujang and Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Sharif.

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Suspended or sacked Umno leaders must set aside their egos if they truly care about the party, says Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh. 'The party is for everyone, and we must come together again. We need them (those who were suspended or sacked) to help strengthen the party. Umno Youth chief urges sacked leaders to ‘set aside ego', says willing to bridge return of Khairy, Hishammuddin and Shahril
SEREMBAN, July 5 – Suspended or sacked former Umno leaders must set aside their egos if they still care for the party, Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh reportedly said. Sinar Harian quoted him saying Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had expressed his willingness to accept appeal letters from those affected by disciplinary actions. 'We need them. As I said earlier, Umno belongs to everyone and must be united again,' he said, referring to suspended or sacked Umno leaders. 'But on one condition – everyone must set aside their ego, love the party, and God willing, Umno will grow stronger,' he added. Dr Akmal said he was ready to act as a bridge to bring back suspended leaders Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan into the party. He said his only goal was to ensure Umno remained strong as a family. 'Umno is a family for all. Those who were disciplined have contributed, and we cannot forget that,' he reportedly said, adding that unity in Umno cannot come from one side alone. Umno Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said it would be up to the Umno Supreme Council to decide whether to reduce or revoke Sembrong MP Hishammuddin's suspension. Earlier reports indicated that the Sembrong Umno Division had proposed reinstating Hishammuddin's membership to strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming general election. Hishammuddin's Umno membership was suspended for six years, or two supreme council election terms, starting January 27, 2023.
