But with three first round picks along the line, and a center in Beebe who per Schottenheimer, already has command regarding checks made at the line of scrimmage, and the solid play (we hope) of Steele, this offensive line might be able to hold up in both the run and pass game to give Dak time to dissect defenses. Granted, we aren't anointing them as anything yet, so we will hold fire, but training camp will be the first "proper" look at what Schottenheimer is dealing with. And once real NFL bullets start flying, we can properly assess this offensive line that Douzable thinks will be the reason Dallas' infamous championship drought will end. IceHogs make it two straight wins in Milwaukee; headed home to Rockford
MILWAUKEE, WI. (WTVO/WQRF) — Yep, playoff hockey is different than regular season hockey, and the Rockford IceHogs seem to be built for the former. The Hogs were only 31-33-6-2 in the regular season, and they finished in fourth place in the AHL's Central Division, but they're on fire night they ran their postseason record to 4-0 by dominating the Central Division Champion Milwaukee Admirals on the Admirals home ice. The Hogs won 6-1. It's their second win in three nights in Anderson had a hat track barely a minute into the second period. He scored a pair of goals in the first period and then got his third tally just minutes after the first intermission ended. Anderson also had an assist. Samuel Savoie, Brett Seney and Aidan Thompson also scored goals for the IceHogs. Drew Commesso ran his postseason record to 4-0 by turning away 30 Milwaukee shots on IceHogs lead the best-of-five series 2 games to none. The next two games, if both are needed, will be played in Rockford this coming Wednesday night and then on Friday IceHogs swept their way through their opening playoff opponent the Chicago Wolves in two games. Colton Dach looks forward to his first playoff action with the Rockford IceHogs
Rockford, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The IceHogs bounced the Chicago Wolves from the Calder Cup playoffs. Now they have the Milwaukee Admirals in their sights. Their best-of-five series opens Thursday night in Hogs got plenty of rest over the weekend thanks to their clincher last Friday morning they had an optional workout at the BMO. It benefited a lot of the young newcomers on the team. Goalie Cameron Rowe, forward AJ Spellacy, forward Mark Vanacker, and defenseman Taige Harding all of the Hogs top players also were on the ice. Defenseman Kevin Korchinski, who was huge with two goals in the Chicago Series was one of them. Goaltender Drew Commesso, the MVP of the Chicago series was also on the ice getting some instruction from goaltender coach Matt Dach wasn't on the ice Tuesday, but he is ready to go for this series with Milwaukee after recovering from a shoulder injury. After sitting out the last six weeks, Dach is fired up to play. 'It'll be very exciting to get back into the game on Thursday and just kind of coming down and watching the guys play and even watching the NHL playoffs, it just kind of gets you itching to get back out there. You want to go out there and make an impact, so I'm really looking forward to Thursday.'Dach says he was impressed with what he saw from his teammates in the two games against the Wolves.'I was really happy with the guys and really proud of them how they played, being physical and hard on pucks. Playing the right way. I think that's what we've got to take into the series against Milwaukee. Play hard and just a smart game, and I think we'll like our outcome.' IceHogs come up short in possible playoff preview against Grand Rapids Griffins
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — There is a good chance the IceHogs could be facing the Grand Rapids Griffins in the opening round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. If so, the Hogs will have to do better in that than they did Wednesday night at BMO IceHogs lost to the Griffins 2-1. The IceHogs only goal was scored in the third period by Paul Ludwinski when the Hogs had been trailing 2-0. Ondrej Becher and Sheldon Dries scored power play goals for the Griffins. Dries came in the second period when the Griffins had a 5-on-3 power play. The IceHogs spent a lot of time in the penalty box. They had nine penalties totaling 26 Commesso was in goal. He had 27 saves while allowing the two goals. The IceHogs will host the Griffins again Friday night.
