NFL Draft national anthem performance slammed as 'worst of all time' by TV viewers
NFL fans have already been left raging ahead of the 2025 Draft after witnessing a national anthem described as the "worst of all time". The wait is almost over for more than 250 collegiate athletes to begin finding out where they will be playing from next season but the event's grand opening left viewers with a sour taste in the mouth. Taking place at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin , it was down to American country rock artist Stephen Wilson Jr to get the festivities underway. The NFL had already faced backlash over its decision to hand the gig to Wilson Jr, with many claiming to have never heard of him before, while others questioned why the draft even needs a national anthem in the first place. Once he started performing on Thursday evening, however, the NFL would come under more fire . "Why it sound like this dude doesn't give a flying f*** about the national anthem," one person slammed on X (formerly Twitter). "Is the guy that's singing the national anthem on draft trying to be Chris Stapleton?? LMAOO" teased another. A third person wrote: "What a horrible version of the national anthem", while a fourth posted: "This gotta be the worst national anthem performance ever." A fith user added: "Worst rendition of the national anthem I've ever heard." The microbiologist-turned-musician , however, recently pulled out of performing at the charity festival Hogs for the Cause in New Orleans after announcing that his mother was in the ICU and "fighting" to stay alive following an ATV accident. Wilson Jr took to social media to release a statement on the situation, in which he revealed that his mom was life-lined from a cornfield before undergoing surgery the following day. "I love her dearly & I can not leave her at this moment," the statement read. "... We are praying for a full recovery for her. thank you for understanding." He is yet to provide an update on his mother's condition but wrote on Thursday that he was '"honored" to perform the national anthem at the Draft, which was last year performed by Caleb Carroll. Unfortunately, the majority of fans haven't shared his same sentiments. The first round of the NFL Draft, or 32 picks, will be held on Thursday, with the second and third rounds set to be completed on Friday. Rounds four, five, six and seven will then be held on Saturday.

Wilson shared with his fans that she was life-lined from a cornfield before saying that she would be undergoing surgery the following day. 'I love her dearly & I can not leave her at this moment,' he wrote in a statement posted to social media. '... We are praying for a full recovery for her. thank you for understanding.' Hogs for the Cause returns to New Orleans for 17th year
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Pork paradise has returned as Hogs for the Cause comes to the UNO Lakefront for its 17th year, and this time, 89 teams are here competing for the top prize. 'We have fireball pork belly bites, which are marinated in fireball, like the alcohol, and then they're fried, and so it's delicious. It leaves a good cinnamon flavor. We have ribs, pulled pork, pulled pork donuts,' Mr. Pigglesworth team member Taylor Hunn said. 'Burnt ends is best seller. We're actually sold out already. We got some desserts, bacon topped desserts, pastalaya,' Pork Illustrated team member Evan Fitzpatrick said. While those teams cook, you can be sure there are thousands of people who come to eat. Volksfest is German fun to celebrate spring at Deutsches Haus this weekend Hogs for the cause is more than just a pork paradise though, as it's one of the largest fundraisers in Louisiana, raising over $12.5 million for families battling pediatric brain cancer since 2009. 'We couldn't do this without our teams. I say that and we 100% mean it. There's 89 teams in this yard. They're here to have fun this weekend, but they know what we're doing, and they are invested not only in this event, but our cause and our organization,' Hogs for the Cause Co-Founder Rene Louapre said. The fundraiser's latest gift is a $1 million donation to John Hopkins All children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, to help build the third Hog's House which will serve as housing for patients and their families receiving long-term hospital care. 'It's going to be a great property. It's going to get remodeled. We've toured it. It'll provide a wonderful housing option especially for families, especially whose children are undergoing things like bone marrow transplants who need to be in a very safe and sterile environment, so we couldn't be more excited for that project,' Louapre accused in Amite homicide investigation was wearing 'military-style attire' when arrested in California: TPSO Speaker Johnson strikes deal with Rep. St. Charles Parish household hazardous materials collection sees turnout
ST. CHARLES PARISH (WGNO) — After a hiatus, St. Charles Parish Government has resumed its collection of household hazardous materials. Residents lined up early for the chance to dispose of household hazardous materials they've been holding on to for some time. 'Electronics, tires, scrap metal, light bulbs and general household catalysts. As long as well as oil-based paint, our residents want to do their part by keeping these chemicals and materials out of our landfills as much as possible,' said St. Charles Public Information Officer Francesca Blanchard. Aviation community await preliminary report in seaplane crash One resident explains it's a great thing because then people are less likely to dump items on the side of the road. 'I got these tires back at my house. I got some paint and stuff like that and I'd rather bring it here rather than try to kill the rat. I used to work for a refinery, so I know this has materials that could be thrown in the ditches all over creation,' said St. Charles Parish resident Benny. For four hours, volunteers unloaded and disposed of the materials safely. Blanchard appreciates those storing their items to later bring to the events. She emphasizes that, with the help of the residents, it'll keep St. Charles Parish beautiful. Hogs for the Cause returns for 17th year 'It is exciting to see so many residents out here wanting to divert these materials from the landfill and help keep our waterways and our roadways clean,' said Blanchard. Terrell Wilson didn't just drop off his materials, he brought materials for his neighbors. Wilson hopes the event will return next year. 'We had accumulated paint cans and car tires. And, you know, our parish does a great job with the trash bag collection, but it is limited to the items that are available to be dropped off at the head.
