Kesha Relishes Doing Music 'As A Free Woman' Ahead Of Her First Independent Album

Kesha is basking in the aura of her new era, and the freedom is refreshing! The prolific singer is back with a bang on the music scene as a fully independent artist, with another new single from her upcoming album to usher in her new era. Kesha has transitioned to an independent artist and is now the CEO of her own label, Kesha Records. This venture operates in collaboration with Crush Music and ADA. The Grammy-nominated artist showed off her insanely toned body on the gram as she announced the date for her new single as an indie artist. Kesha looked glorious in a sheer two-piece ensemble, hugging her toned figure tightly and paired with a transparent polythene overall. The singer paired her sexy look with a blonde hair and dark roots combo. The sultry picture has gathered over 16k likes, with hundreds of comments praising her new look and comeback. "YIPPEE-KI-YAY. FEAT. @TPAIN. THURSDAY," her caption wrote, accompanying the image. After a decade-long legal battle with the record label, the newly independent artist told PEOPLE that her new reality feels incredible. Kesha expressed her newfound sense of freedom and empowerment. After experiencing significant healing, she felt invigorated by the success of her projects, like "Joyride" and "Holiday Road." For a long time, she believed that her achievements were solely attributed to those around her, but the past year has reinforced that her success is her own. With her team, she has taken control of her creative journey, which has been both empowering and inspiring. The singer shared that her upcoming sixth studio album represents a personal milestone for her, showcasing the diverse aspects of her identity, from bold self-expression to vulnerability. She emphasized that, for the first time, she feels liberated both creatively and sexually, fully embracing life as a free woman. In her words: "I'm just really f-cking devouring life right now, and it feels so good to be able to do that as a free woman for the first time in my life. It really feels like my first record." The upcoming project reportedly feels like her true debut, capturing her journey toward empowerment and self-discovery. In 2023, The Blast shared a confession from the singer on why she could not produce another pop album. The pop sensation discussed her journey toward spiritual fulfillment, leading her away from conventional religious beliefs and into pursuing material success. Despite achieving fame with hits like "We R Who We R," she realized that the accolades, such as awards and tours, offered only fleeting highs. Reflecting on a period of isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kesha acknowledged the emptiness of her previous focus on self-centered life and fan expectations. The artist confessed that she now embraces an authentic approach in her art, transforming her trauma and PTSD into meaningful expressions. At that stage in her career, Kesha admitted to feeling a deep sense of fulfillment and is determined not to create disingenuous, upbeat pop songs. Instead, she confronted the raw and often uncomfortable emotions that surfaced during the lockdown. 2023 was indeed a memorable year for the talent. Kesha celebrated her newfound freedom following her departure from Dr. Luke's Kemosabe Records. The moment marks the end of her contract with the label, a culmination of a long legal battle that concluded earlier in 2023. She celebrated her victory with a clip of her on the beach decked in a black top and aqua-colored shorts, playfully running to the ocean after placing her phone in the sand. Accompanied by Beach House's "Space Song," she expressed her excitement, stating, "I haven't felt this free since I was 18." A few days before her beach celebration, reports confirmed that her contract officially ended in December 2022 after she released her final album under her five-album deal, "Gag Order." In addition to her departure from the label, she also separated from her management company, Vector Management. Kesha and her manager, Jack Rovner, released statements acknowledging their amicable parting after 16 years, reflecting on their shared journey through a challenging period in her career. While at Kemosabe Records, Kesha released five albums, beginning with her 2010 debut, "Animal," which featured the hit single "Tik Tok," along with three EPs. The protracted legal battle between the artist and her record label began in 2014 when she filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke. As shared by The Blast, Kesha made serious allegations against Dr. Luke, claiming that he committed sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, and emotional abuse. She also accused him of drugging and raping her, as well as manipulating her emotionally throughout their professional relationship, which started when she signed with his label, Kemosabe. Kesha's allegations also include violations of California's business practices laws. Kesha's legal struggles ignited the #FreeKesha movement, rallying fans and celebrities to advocate for her liberation from her contract with Kemosabe Records, which Dr. Luke imposed. Prominent artists like Taylor Swift, Adele, and Lady Gaga expressed their support for Kesha during her legal battle. Swift famously donated $250,000 to help with Kesha's legal expenses. Kesha has definitely come a long way in her career, and her new era is truly deserved!
