ChargePoint Launches Comprehensive Home Charging Solution for European Company Car Fleets
CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT), a leading provider of EV charging solutions, today announced the new Flex Plus charger. The Flex Plus will be sold in Europe to address the challenge of home charging for company cars, which represent 60% of new car sales in the region. ChargePoint's Driver Management Solution pairs with the charger to seamlessly reimburse employees for home energy usage, enable public charging for drivers on the road, and provide visibility into the charging activity of an entire fleet. The Flex Plus is the first charger to be built on ChargePoint's new AC charging architecture, which features innovative technologies such as real-time dynamic load management. This feature automatically accelerates charging speeds when power is not needed elsewhere in the building, enabling the fastest charging possible without incurring the cost of upgrading electrical service into the home. The charger's smart home compatibility allows it to integrate with solar power, batteries and other components of home energy management systems. The Flex Plus debuts an innovative new backplate mounting system which enables drivers to take their charger with them when moving houses. For fleet managers, this allows a previously fixed asset to become portable, thereby lowering costs and assuring continuity as the charger simply pops onto a pre-wired backplate in the new location. 'Fleet managers and company car drivers require a seamless experience to fully embrace their electric vehicles,' said Hossein Kazemi, CTO for hardware at ChargePoint. 'The new Flex Plus charger pairs with ChargePoint's Driver Management Solution to automatically reimburse company car drivers for home charging, making it easy for drivers and fleet managers to go electric.' ChargePoint's Flex Plus and Driver Management Solution solves a key issue for fleet managers, accurately automating reimbursement for home charging, thanks to the charger's built-in meter and connectivity. The software extends beyond this to manage the critical aspects of home and public charging, from installation to consolidated VAT invoicing for international fleets. Fleet managers can onboard new drivers, easily manage driver groups, assign charging rules for specific segments, and utilize a centralized dashboard to manage fleet-wide activity. For a company car driver, the benefits of the solution are numerous. Flex Plus can be installed quickly, professionally and conveniently at home thanks to ChargePoint's installation partners. From there, the need to stop and fuel during the workday is traded for the convenience of plugging in at home overnight. When a driver does need to charge on the road, the Driver Management Solution enables them to find, use, and pay for their charging via an app that can be white-labeled, or in some cases right from the in-dash experience of their vehicle. The ChargePoint Flex Plus is now available for order as part of the Driver Management Solution, with deliveries beginning later this summer. ChargePoint's Latest EV Charging Tech Revealed
ChargePoint, one of the largest EV charging platforms in the United States, has announced new AC Level 2 chargers, which the company claims are 'up to' double the speed of existing Level 2 AC chargers. Further, these new chargers support bidirectional charging, which will assist EV owners in powering their homes with electricity from their parked vehicles in the event of a power outage. ChargePoint didn't announce a rollout plan but expects the first round chargers to arrive later this year. These new Level 2 chargers are rated for 80 amps and can support charging up to 19.2kW. ChargePoints claims at full strength, an EV parked at home can be charged from zero to 100 percent in about four hours. Currently, charging from zero to full is an overnight procedure. Most homeowners with ChargePoint chargers in their garage have the company's Home Flex chargers, which are rated at 50 amps and deliver up to 12kW of the most exciting news buried in ChargePoint's announcement is that these new chargers will support series wiring, which allows multiple vehicles to charge from a single charger. Currently, each EV requires a dedicated charger to power up; this move should help homeowners with multiple EVs avoid installing multiple chargers, which is very costly. Supporting multi-vehicle charging is news that these new chargers will come with ChargePoint Omni Port, allowing multiple vehicles with disparate charging connectors to use the same charger hub. 'ChargePoint's next generation of EV chargers will be revolutionary, not evolutionary,' said Hossein Kazemi, Chief Technical Officer of hardware at ChargePoint. 'The architecture underpinning them enables highly anticipated technologies which will deliver a significantly better experience for station owners and the EV drivers who charge with them.' ChargePoint announced a joint venture with General Motors earlier this year to bring faster DC charging to public charging stations. That move will see up to 500 new fast chargers installed nationwide - also by the end of the year. These new public chargers also support ChargePoint Omni Port. At home, ChargePoint says its new Level 2 AC chargers will have dynamic load balancing, accelerating your vehicle's charge speed when power isn't needed elsewhere in the home. To wit, the top-end charging speed of 19.2kW would occur when nothing else in the home requires significant electricity. In addition to home charging, ChargePoint will have versions of its new Level 2 charging for fleet and commercial installations. The company hasn't said how much its new chargers will charging has dogged the EV industry for years. Most EV owners charge at home; people often forget to plug their vehicle in when they arrive home, which is an added stressor. Without reaching a full charge by morning, many start their days with range anxiety. ChargePoint's new chargers are a step in the right direction: faster charging at home, particularly overnight.

ChargePoint Innovations Transform EV Charging with Maximum-Speed Bidirectional AC Architecture
Innovative new architecture sets the benchmark for the future of EV charging with Vehicle-to-Home capability & maximum AC charging speeds CAMPBELL, Calif., April 10, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT), a leading provider of networked charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), today announced a generational leap in AC Level 2 charging technology. The new product architecture will feature game-changing innovations such as bidirectional charging and speeds up to double that of a typical AC Level 2 charger. This architecture will underpin models sold across North America and Europe, with variants being designed for commercial, residential, and fleet applications. "ChargePoint's next generation of EV chargers will be revolutionary, not evolutionary," said Hossein Kazemi, Chief Technical Officer, Hardware at ChargePoint. "The architecture underpinning them enables highly anticipated technologies which will deliver a significantly better experience for station owners and the EV drivers who charge with them." Features of ChargePoint's new AC Level 2 architecture include: Vehicle-to-everything capability, enabling an EV to deliver energy as a zero-emissions generator for a home, a commercial building, or to transfer energy back to the grid. Ultra-fast charging at the maximum speed possible: 19.2 kW (80A single-phase, North America) or 22 kW (32A 3-phase, Europe), charging a typical EV battery from 0–100% in about four hours. Dynamic load balancing, which automatically accelerates the charging speed when power is not needed elsewhere in the building. Smart home compatibilities to integrate with solar charging, home batteries and smart energy management systems. Series-wiring capability, enabling a fleet depot, a multifamily housing garage, or even a single-family home with two EVs to maximize charging without costly service upgrades. ChargePoint® Omni Port enables charging North American EVs with any of the most common connector types from a single charging station. The new architecture arises from ChargePoint's nearly two decades of industry leadership designing and deploying innovative charging stations, with an estimated 61% of public AC Level 2 market share in the USA based on data published by the Alternative Fuels Data Center. The architecture will comply with applicable regulations and programs, including MID and Eichrecht in Europe and ENERGY STAR® in the U.S. The first models to be built on the platform will arrive in Europe this summer, and in North America at the end of 2025.
