Popeyes brings back viral fan favourite range after popular demand – but you have to be quick

Hot Honey is one of the biggest food trends this year YUMMY RETURN Popeyes brings back viral fan favourite range after popular demand – but you have to be quick POPEYES is bringing back its beloved Hot Honey range after it quickly became a fan favourite. The fast food restaurant revealed it sold over a quarter of a million of the 'swicy' sandwiches in just three months last year. 2 Hot Honey is returning to the menu at Popeyes UK Credit: Popeyes After pulling the limited edition snacks from the menus, Popeyes social media inbox was inundated with requests for its return. In September last year, one disappointed customer took to social media and wrote: "Come back to the UK to find Popeyes stopped Hot Honey while I was away? Excuse me?" "Popeyes UK need to bring back that hot honey burger I'm so serious," another fumed. A third wrote: "Popeyes UK can you please explain why you have taken away the hot honey wings off your menu?! Do you realise this is a travesty?!?! Bring it back!!!" Well, Popeyes UK diners can breathe a sigh of relief as The Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich is now back for good. Bursting with 12-hour marinated and hand-breaded Shatter Crunchin' chicken breast, the burger is drizzled in the sweet and spicy sauce. It's topped with cheddar cheese, fresh pickles and nestled in a soft brioche bun. And that's not all. The signature sandwich will be joined by the Hot Honey Saucin' Boneless, Hot Honey Saucin' Wings and Hot Honey Box Meal. The sweet and fiery hot wings are lathered in Popeyes house-developed Hot Honey sauce that packs a punch. Available in 6, 8, or 12 wings - or as part of a meal, including fries and a drink - they are a must-try for fans looking to spice up their order. Fans of the flavour can also make it a meal and get even more chicken with the Hot Honey Box Meal. Hungry customers can enjoy the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, paired with a side of two Chicken Tenders, three Hot Wings or one-piece Signature Chicken, regular fries and a regular drink for just £11.29. Dave Hoskins, Head of Food at Popeyes UK said: 'Hot Honey is by far one of our best-selling flavours, as well as a viral trend that shows no signs of letting up. "Our sweet, fiery sandwich pairs sticky honey with our signature Shatter Crunch texture for a mouthwatering experience that fans have been begging us to bring back. Inside Popeye's first UK restaurant as we try the menu – and the fried chicken is better than KFC "We couldn't ignore the unprecedented calls from customers, and got right to work creating a bigger and better range filled with an explosion of the fiery stickin' sweet flavours, to satisfy that huge demand from our fried chicken cravers.' Hot Honey has been one of the biggest food trends this year and thousands of brands have jumped on the bandwagon. Even Jaffa Cakes have their own Hot Honey edition, which created division among fans. Supermarkets have been flogging own brand bottles of the amber nectar and Dominoes even launched a pepperoni pizza slathered in the stuff. Starbucks created a Hot Honey Cortado and culinary influencers have been sharing their own recipes online. "The rise of hot honey is far from random — it's the result of a complex and trackable convergence of cultural signals, consumer needs, and culinary experimentation," Alon Chen, the CEO and cofounder of Tastewise told Food & Wine. Hot Honey is the fusion of sweet honey and spicy chillies - but it's not as new as you'd think. Elijah Morey, co-owner of Elijah's Xtreme, told the magazine: "I saw Hot Honey become a real trend about four years ago. "It's a combination of Nashville hot honey chicken sandwiches and pizza places in New York City adopting Hot Honey, especially with Mike's Hot Honey once it really took hold of the market online." Another massive food trend this year has been the rise of Dubai Chocolate. The Dubai chocolate bar is milk chocolate with a gooey filling that consists of a thin, shredded pastry called Kunafa - a Dubai dessert - mixed with pistachio cream. It's taken off worldwide, but the original was first sold by the UAE-based FIX Dessert Chocolatier in 2022. The bars are hefty in weight and can also vary in flavourings as long as it contains Kunafa. 2 The wings were a huge hit with fans and sold like hot cakes Credit: Popeyes 2025's biggest food trend: Hot Honey Hot honey is heating up the UK food scene—and it's not just a passing fad. This sweet-meets-spicy condiment has become a go-to for chefs, home cooks, and food influencers alike, turning everything from pizza to ice cream into a bold flavour experience. While the idea of mixing honey with chilli isn't new (versions have existed for centuries in parts of South America and Southern Europe), the modern hot honey trend took off in the US. It was popularised by Mike Kurtz, who launched 'Mike's Hot Honey' in Brooklyn in 2010 after discovering chilli-infused honey while living in Brazil. The UK caught on a few years later, with early adopters like London-based WilderBee introducing British-made versions of the fiery syrup around 2016. Since then, hot honey has gone from street food secret to supermarket staple. Big-name retailers like M&S and Aldi now stock their own versions, and it's increasingly common to see hot honey drizzled on fried chicken burgers, roasted veg, and even brunch dishes in trendy cafés. It's a hit across all food styles—comforting, inventive, and just adventurous enough for mainstream appeal.

'I tried Popeyes 'phenomenal' hot honey burger - it's the best I've ever eaten'

Popeyes have brought back one of their most in demand flavours to their menu - the Hot Honey range. Mirror writer Niamh Kirk finally managed to get her hands on one and try it out Hot honey is the flavour of the moment - so it's about time Popeyes brought back their iconic menu items. Since the Louisiana fried chicken chain first came to the UK in 2021, it's amassed fans all over the country thanks to it's crunchy fried chicken, iconic burgers and Cajun topped fries. ‌ When the Hot Honey range was introduced last year, it sent fans into a frenzy with the sweet but spicy sauce generously slathered all over the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and the Hot Honey Saucin' Wings - making it one of the most successful launches ever, only to be taken away again three months later. ‌ Dubbed "better than McDonald's" by fans, who called it "phenomenal", it's now back, and with a brand new menu item too. After missing out on it last year, I knew it was finally my time. The classic OG Popeyes chicken burger managed to convert me to a Popeyes fan, so I was wondering how the Hot Honey would compare. ‌ 'I made my own Strawberry matcha for breakfast - you should know this before you try' I couldn't wait to tuck into the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, and not to sound dramatic, but it might just be the best chicken burger I've ever eaten. The Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich (£6.99) promises the chain's shatter crunch chicken breast in a brioche bun with a healthy drizzle of hot honey sauce and it's topped with smoked cheese and pickles. What's not to love? The Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich is joined by the brand-new Hot Honey Saucin' Boneless, the return of Hot Honey Saucin' Wings, and the Hot Honey Box Meal to complete the full Hot Honey range. ‌ First things first, it's very, very messy and because it's honey, it's also very sticky too - so you may need a napkin, a wet wipe or some hand wash close by just to warn you. The burger is a hefty one, and it's clear they didn't scrimp on the sauce as it was oozing out of my burger when I had unwrapped it. Would you try the Hot Honey chicken burger? Let us know in the comments. Aside from the messiness, the sauce was very, very sweet, but it also had quite a kick to it living up to it's name of 'hot' honey. I think the sweetness was a little overpowering, but the crunchy chicken helped combine the flavours - it was definitely not dry. I can see why this burger was brought back by popular demand, it is definitely something a little different from a regular chicken burger. ‌ The iconic Popeyes crunchy chicken was delicious, and the chicken breast was a very generous size, while the added pickles were a nice touch - without having the faff of too much salad. I really enjoyed this burger, although it was very sweet, I thought it was nice to opt for something a little different to switch up my lunchtime meal. I don't know if it is better than the original Popeyes classic burger, but it's definitely up there. "Hot Honey is by far one of our best-selling flavours, as well as a viral trend that shows no signs of letting up. US fast food chain brings back axed range after fans begged for return

When Popeyes' Hot Honey range launched last year, fast food fans couldn't get enough. Customers had been begging for more of the dip on the menu, and Popeyes didn't disappoint, introducing the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and Hot Honey Saucin' Wings. But then in a blow to Hot Honey fans everywhere, this limited time offer — Popeyes' most successful ever — ended just three months later. But now, it's good news once more for lovers of the Louisiana fried chicken brand, which has been hailed as 'phenomenal' and 'better than McDonald's', as Hot Honey is back — and this time, there's a new addition to the range. Joining the line-up in restaurants and for takeaway from today, there's the Hot Honey Saucin' Boneless, featuring 100% fresh boneless chicken breast pieces with Popeyes' iconic Shatter Crunchin' coating, 'sauced up' in Hot Honey. The range is back by popular demand, after customers took to social media, begging for its return. 'Can you please explain why you have taken the hot honey wings off your menu,' asked an outraged @OyinSoExtra on X in April. 'Do you realise this is travesty?!!! Bring it back!!!!' X user @d1gitalpixie agreed: 'Popeyes UK need top bring that hot honey burger back I'm so serious.' While on TikTok @louisewatson18 mourned the loss of her favourite: 'Missing the hot honey, my fabulous sauce ever.' Dave Hoskins, head of food at Popeyes UK confirmed the range is returning due to 'unprecedented demand.' The Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich (£6.99) features the shatter crunch chicken breast in a brioche bun, but is drizzled in hot honey sauce, then topped with smoked cheese and pickles. There's also new Hot Honey Saucin' Wings (from £5.99), which Popeyes say are 'a must-try for fans looking to spice up their order'. These crispy chicken wings are slathered in the house-developed hot honey sauce that 'packs a punch'. And for those wanting a bigger meal, you can now opt for the Hot Honey Box Meal, which features the sandwich, regular fries, a regular drink, and then your choice of either two chicken tenders, three hot wings, or one-piece signature chicken for £10.99. He said: 'Hot Honey is by far one of our best-selling flavours, as well as a viral trend that shows no signs of letting up. After its initial launch last year, Metro got an exclusive early taste of the items and were impressed with the sweet and saucy range. Opinion editor, Jess Austin, thought the chicken sandwich was 'amazing', and declared herself officially a Popeyes convert because of it. Similarly, Lifestyle writer Eleanor Noyce was also a big fan, describing the hot honey sauce as 'sweet, tangy and crispy.' Metro's resident specialst food writer, Courtney Pochin, enjoyed it immensely, but didn't really think it was a necessary addition to the menu. She said: 'Popeyes is my go-to fast food chain and while this new twist on the chicken sandwich is undeniably yummy, and has a nice warm kick, it's got nothing on the OG version.
