Houchin Community Blood Drive exceeds turnout expectations
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — More than 200 people came to Compassion Corner with their sleeves rolled up to save lives for the Houchin Community Blood Drive on Thursday.
KGET 17 News teamed up with Houchin Community Blood Bank, Valley Strong and Adventist Health on May 15, for our 17th annual community-wide blood drive.
The original goal for the blood bank was to get 100 pints of blood. The turnout ended up being double that number.

Gina Lidgett, the marketing coordinator for Houchin Community Blood Bank, thanked everyone who came out to donate on Thursday.
'Every single donation is going to go to a life here in Kern County and save your friends, your family, your neighbors,' Lidgett said.
Anyone who wants to donate blood can visit any of the Houchin Blood Bank locations during regular business hours. You can view the locations and hours here.
As always, a big thank you to those who gave in the spirit of the Golden Empire.
