A Siberian husky named Bond has left viewers on Instagram in stitches after pulling off a Houdini-worthy escape from his fenced enclosure—and his owners did not even know he had done it until they checked their security camera.
The security footage, shared to Instagram by @jackiethehusky on November 11, shows Bond shimmying under a metal fence in his yard with a mix of agility and determination. Since being posted, the video has been viewed more than 8 million times and liked by over 160,000 users, leaving viewers both entertained and incredulous.
"When someone tells you huskies are escape artists—believe them," the video's overlaid text reads, echoing the sentiments of thousands of them.
In a caption accompanying the post, Bond's owners explained that the escape came as a complete surprise: "When we couldn't figure out how Bond ended up on the opposite side of one of the many fences we have in the yard, we checked our camera and found out we have a new Houdini."
Speaking to Newsweek, Bond's owner Andra Ellingson confirmed that the canine is living up to the husky reputation.
"We are longtime Siberian husky lovers, having gotten our first one in 2001," she said. "We currently have the two—Bond and Jon Snow.
"Bond is our escape artist, he slid under the gate between his dog run, which is a large area, and into our backyard, in 10 years, none of our dogs had ever attempted this and we didn't think it was possible!"
She described Bond as "small, determined, and very clever." Though the video gives the impression of a modest setup, Ellingson said their yard is equipped with numerous gates specifically designed to contain their energetic dogs.
Still, that has not stopped Bond from trying his luck.

The post's caption explained that Bond's owners have since adapted the fence to try and keep him in, but that they are not optimistic this solution will last for long.
Nicknamed "Demon" at home for his constant mischief, Bond is 5 years old and brimming with personality.
"He is extremely smart and calculating, but he is also very affectionate," Ellingson said.
His sibling Jon Snow, in contrast, is a 7-year-old husky with a gentler demeanor.
"He just wants to be petted," Ellingson added. "He will play with Bond but after a while likes his alone time. He is a gentleman, often sitting with paws crossed."
The duo's antics—and particularly Bond's recent breakout—have captured the imagination of dog lovers across the platform.
"That's pretty impressive," one viewer said, while another added: "What magic trick is [this]?"
As Ellingson quipped, the fence may have been reinforced, "until he figures out how to get out from that one too."
