Presidential Council expresses commitment to municipal council elections
by HousamNajjair Wed, 21/03/2018 - 15:30 Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj, discussed in a meeting with the Chairman of the Central Committee for the Elections of Municipal Councils, Salim bin Tahia, the condition of municipalities that have not yet completed their elections. Sarraj stressed during the meeting the need to adhere to the stages of completion of municipal council elections in various regions of Libya. Sarraj expressed commitment of the Presidential Council to the democratic process, adding his government is adopting an option of decentralization and giving broad powers to municipalities, according to the information office of the Presidential Council. Russia visit by Presidential Council member will begin in Chechnya
by HousamNajjair Thu, 14/09/2017 - 16:30 The Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maiteeq, is due to visit Russia to discuss Moscow's participation in the Libyan settlement and pave the way for a possible future visit by the Council's Chairman, Fayez Sarraj. The head of the Russian contact group on Libyan settlement, Liev Dengov, told Russia Today news website on Wednesday that Maiteeq will begin his journey from Chechnya where he will hold talks with Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov. Dengov explained that talks in the capital of Chechnya will discuss Russian-Libyan relations and Moscow's participation as a mediator in resolving the Libyan crisis politically.
